On Jacoby Jones
Interesting stats about Jacoby from Bill Barnwell of FO. Following is copied from Paul Kuharsky's blog post (The original article is insider's only).
On Jones, Barnwell writes:
“…He was a legitimate go-to guy when teams were tripling Andre Johnson and daring Matt Schaub to throw somewhere else. Schaub threw Jones 13 passes on third down; Jones caught 10 of them, gaining 125 yards and seven first downs.”
So more than a third of JJ's receptions came in a third down situation. Not exactly what you expect from someone who is seen only as a deep threat.

A slightly different draft than usual?
Am I the only one who thinks this draft is somewhat different from previous Smithiak drafts in that they seem to have actually drafted keeping depth as much in the picture as need. Mitchell is expected to be a situational player, Graham is insurance against the injuries in our TE group, and we even picked a WLB. While we are still missing a couple of pieces in FS and OL (and a big NT, but we all know that's not gonna happen), that's something that can possibly be addresed through trades. On the flip side though, we happen to have fair amount of competition at every other position, including FB and K. This is something Kubiak has always stressed in his interviews and press conferences. So, here's my question.. Does this draft indicate that Kubiak believes that the roster buildup is close to complete, or is it in preparation for a run into the playoffs this year. What do you think BRB?
Edit: Fixed the Headline
K news!
Arguably, Texans were a good kicker away from playoffs last season, despite the awful running game. Apparently, FO is working to solve that issue. From Pancakes on twitter:
Gary Kubiak said at coaches breakfast that K Kris Brown will have competition beginning in OTAs and not just training camp and preseason.
