Francoeur disappointed in Melky

10

"I'm just disappointed for him because all of us in here pulled for him so much, and myself and Gordo [Alex Gordon] were in the outfield with him last year and were so proud of him to come back to the All-Star Game this year and hit the home run and do what he did, but obviously we're just real disappointed for him now."

Team Goal at Break: .500

Billy Butler said this morning that the team goal is to have an even record by the All Star break. That would mean 10-3.

Hosmer really is Casey Kotchman.

It has been said, with little or no debate, that Eric Hosmer is the Royals’ equivalent of Casey Kotchman, or at least Hosmer is slowly morphing into Kotchman each and every day. via i...

"I tried to tell everybody I was the spark plug tonight," Francoeur said. "I got everybody fired up, and Ned finished it off, and we came up with a big win. It was a huge win."

Parlor Mob Demoted to Omaha

Apparently one bad game gets you the hook. Ned is good with player development. (If this was already posted, I am so sorry.)

Aviles: .333/.365/.567

I know at least one person here "fuck@ng hates"* Aviles, but the Red Sox starting shortstop would be among Royals leaders with 5 2B, 3 HR, 20 hits, 10 RBI - and would only be tied with Francoeur...

Yamaico Remembered

Yesterday was a day that will endure in a famously bad way. First, there was Pearl Harbor; then Yamaico “the Yam-man” Navarro got shipped out for more “prospects.” Like all of you, I am shocked...

Butler Credits Seitzer

"At the start of the Boston series, we went to the cage and did some things we wanted to work on," Butler said. "Getting my hands higher, working down to the ball and it creates more backspin. I just give him a ton of the credit for this week and, hopefully, for the rest of the season, because it was a minor adjustment. But it's paid huge dividends and the results are huge, so far." "He's done a great job making me a better hitter each day, and I'm so glad that I [have] the opportunity to work with him," Butler said. "He knows his hitting like no one else I've worked with."

Royals Best at Being Worst in Pickoffs!

Pickoffs: (1) Royals (28 this includes Frenchy's on 7-31-11); (2) Rays (23); (3) Mariners (21); (4) Diamondbacks (20); (5) Athletics (18); (6) Mets (17); (7) Blue Jays (16); (8) Reds (15); (9) Rangers (15); and (10) Nationals (15). "Butlers trade value is not going to get any higher than RIGHT NOW! Trade him for the starting pitching that the team needs. History shows that he will not continue to be this dominant offensive force and will revert back to the non-clutch, single/doubles hitter that clogs the bases. I think that this is a move that the Royals NEED to do. Keep Melky & Frenchie. No other team wants Davies, Francis or Chen. Same goes for Getz & Aviles. This thing is showing signs of turning the corner and the Royals could add a couple more parts with a trade of Butler."

Aviles Vows: Don't Bet Against Me!

The June 9 demotion of Mike Aviles set off a bit of a war of words mainly concerning whether Chris Getz was better, worse or equally bad (http://www.royalsreview.com/2011/6/9/2216382/royals-call-up-3b-mike-moustakas and http://www.royalsreview.com/2011/6/9/2216311/aviles-demoted). Aviles’ numbers at the time were obviously bad at .213/.257/.391/.647, and he had been picked off five times and committed eight errors. Subsequent to the demotion, Aviles has had a very good hitting line in Omaha: .315/.333/.608/.941, with 9 HR in 130 AB. However, he’s also had 5 errors in 33 games. He (and his AAA hitting coach) say that he has made mechanical adjustments and he thrives on being more aggressive, instead of trying to go up the middle and opposite field (or what I call being "Seitzered"). Aviles was quoted as saying he’ll be back in the big leagues: "I know I'll be back up there." Since the demotion, Getz has hit .264/.295/.264/.559 without a single extra-base hit. Do you want Aviles back? Is Getz just fine? Giavotella?
