one Mel Kiper. He has them taking LSU Tyson Jackson. Interesting. It seems that Pioli wants a Richard Seymour type of player here. If that happens, then Curry will fall to Cleveland.

My head is starting to spin now. My latest gut is telling me that they should trade out. There will be a team desperate for Sanchez. It could be the Jets, Redskins, Jags, Seattle.

Tomorrow at 4PM ET can't come quick enough.

Curry still posturing, getting old

Is anyone else getting tired of hearing Curry talk about how great it would be to fit into Detroit's team? Recently, I read that he's love to play with an ex-high school team mate.

Whatever happened to, "he'll do the best he can with whatever team drafts him". I don't see Stafford or Sanchez taking like this.

"After my visit to Detroit, I felt very comfortable with the coaching staff and the management," Curry said. "And, you know, they made the new changes to the logo, which I fell in love with. And they brought in Julian Peterson, who I’ve always been a big fan of. I see myself in that uniform, and I could also see myself playing beside Ernie Sims and Julian Peterson."

As Curry was describing how he exchanges text messages with Lions GM Martin Mayhew, all I kept thinking about was how the Bears built their team around Brian Urlacher.

The pressure to pick first in the draft

All of the scrutiny will be on Detroit. It seems as if they have to make a splash by getting an OL or QB. I really have a hard time thinking that they would draft an OLB like Curry to be the solid player on their D. I'm sure another lower level tackling machine can be found later in the draft.

All of the pressure is on for them to take Stafford, and let Curry fall to KC. I don't think their fans will "like" them pickiing a LB that won't change the game in one play. I honestly think that they will not take an OL as well. If they had some kind of stop gap QB, maybe an OL, but the chance to take the best QB of the class doesn't come along too often.

And sometimes the pressure to miss out on the "next one" may be greater than taking the "safe one".

Lions coach Jim Schwartz had also planned an extended visit to Athens, Ga., before the draft as well to get to know Stafford better.

Here's to our number three pick of the draft. Seems like our options are Curry, one of the OL, or trade down. Pretty clear cut in my eyes.

Maybe he doesn't know how loud Arrowhead can get when things are right.

As it appears, we're trying to sprinkle last year's team with some veteran presence. I think we may be close to being a .500 team this upcoming year. I still want to see a few more FAs (OL, DL, LB).

saving cap for released players

Maybe that's what Pioli is doing. Maybe he's saving money for players that will be cut or released.

Levi Jones is another one.

This move could turn out to be a smart one, as players have out priced themselves. Teams would rather go young and "cheaper". I wonder if Jones is worth a flyer if he is released. There are starting to be a pile on the scrap head. And we'll see if Pioli shops at garage sales.

Flip this QB?

As I'm sitting here in NJ, a little before midnight, as I'm still celebrating a NY Ranger shootout victory over the Habs, I'm watching "Flip this House". It's one of my favorite shows. They buys a house cheap, fix it up, and sell it at a pretty good profit. They usually make 40 to 50 grand.

So, I wonder, being that Pioli supposedly stole Cassel for a second round pick, would it beyond Pioli to "flip" him to Denver for a first? Then keep Thigpen as the starter, and draft a young QB (Sanchez or Stafford) and another first?

Not sure if I'd like to see Cassel and McD together in Denver, but I'm still a Thigpen fan.

Was it McDaniel or Cassel?

Was McDaniel's coaching what brought out the best in Cassel? Or was Cassel just a star waiting for his chance?

Then he turned a backup who hadn't started a game since high school into one of the top quarterbacks in the league. Josh is not frightened to go to the bench, if he has to."

Most of the time a good coach puts a marginal player in a good position to succeed. I have to think Cassel's success was more McDaniel's coaching than Cassel's ability.

Cutler "demands" trade

Could this be a win for KC? McDaniels New England arrogence rubs Cutler the wrong way.

Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler said Sunday night that he will not report to the team's first meeting on Monday and has formally asked to be traded.

"At the end of the meeting, he wasn't like, 'Jay, I want you as our quarterback, you're our guy.' It felt like the opposite. He basically said that I needed to tell him if we can't work this out, to let him know," Cutler added. Really, I figured we'd hash things out, shake hands, laugh a little and move forward. What happened [Saturday] was the last thing I expected.

Sounds similar to Brian Waters? Hopefully for the AFC West, this blows up and they trade him to Tennessee for a few pics. Then they get stuck with Garcia and Simms as their QBs.

It'll be a few weeks before this gets ironed out. Draft is coming soon!

Curry sounds too excited to be a Lion

"Actually, I'm very excited about (Peterson), being that he's going to be a perfect Sam linebacker," Curry said in a phone interview. "Ernie Sims is going to be a great Will (weak-side linebacker) and I just have the opportunity to play the Mike. That Mike position is always a position that I always looked at at Wake Forest that I wanted to play but just never was allowed to really just play it 400 snaps (a season)."Acquiring Peterson appears to end the Lions' need for drafting an outside linebacker with the top pick. But Curry is considered versatile enough to play in the middle -- Lions coach Jim Schwartz has called him "multidimensional" -- and widely thought to be the draft's safest pick.

First, I don't like the posturing to be the number 1 pick. Secondly, why would the Lions draft someone ( a LB) that high, and aske him to change positions already? One would think that if you are spending that high of a pick, you want that person to be a playmaker at his chose position. I for one hope Stafford has a great pro day, and the Lions can't pass him up.

Here's a scenario to chew on though. Say Stafford drops to us. I would think we'd have to trade out. That would have to be our 3rd pick exit strategy if Curry didn't fall to us.

I'm not sold on moving Albert. He was fine last year. We got lucky drafting a him out of position, and moving him. Why mess with that luck.

Arizona fans view of our DC

It looks like the Cardinal fans were not thrilled with Pendergast. He had some good spurts but wasn't overwhelmingly successful. While he was great in the preseason, his overall statistics weren't that good.

My guess is that we'll have a middle of the road defense. Hopefully the change of coaching staffs, will have an impact on our ability to tackle. I'm still having nightmares of Tiki Barber running through our team (twice).
