Hillman: Injuries no excuse for dismal season
Wait. Sorry. I got that wrong in the title.. This is what he said:
"I've made mention of this many times throughout the course of this injury-plagued season that we've had: I'm much more impressed with where we're at mentally, work ethic-wise and attitude-wise with this club in comparison to what we had last year," Hillman said. "I think that has grown, I think the character has grown. Right, wrong and indifferent, I think that's something that leads to more wins."

JoPo joins the party
And at the end of the day, I guess, it’s pretty simple to sum up: The Royals are team that cannot field, hit, hit with power, run or walk. They just traded for a player who cannot field, hit, hit with power, run or walk. I’m just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round — I really love to watch them roll.

Hillman going to the ASG!
In the American League, Maddon selected Kansas City Royals manager Trey Hillman and Seattle Mariners skipper Don Wakamatsu to join him on the bench for the game.

"And I thought, 'I really wonder how he would be as a starter? The way he makes his innings so easy.' And then about 10 seconds later, I'm thinking, 'Well, hold on. To have a guy that can just dominate the ninth inning -- in a way, it's more valuable to have that. It's more important to have a guy nailing down games than maybe a starter winning 13 to 14 games.'"
