Born and raised in Buckner, Missouri, just a half-hour east of Kansas City. I've been a Chiefs fan since I was old enough to chant "Go Chiefs." I joined the Navy in 1997 and followed that route to San Diego, where I've been ever since. I'm stuck in a city that is in the same division as the Chiefs, but I have never given up on my roots or my boys. I got a Chiefs Arrowhead tattoo when I was 17 and am branded for life as a Chiefs fan, which I am more than proud to sport. I don't mind living in San Diego and love to give these Chargers fans crap after we drop the hammer on them. Regardless of our record year in and year out, red and gold will always course through my veins.

IndyCar Driver Ed Carpenter Puts PM in KC?
"It’s going to be awkward especially if he ends up in the division and we have to play him a couple of times a year. It’s not going to look right. It’s going to be like seeing Joe Montana in a Chiefs uniform," said IndyCar driver Ed Carpenter, an Indianapolis native who has been attending Colts games since Jeff George was the starting quarterback. "Hopefully, he’ll perform better than Joe did in the Chiefs uniform."
Peyton Manning? A potential QB candidate in Kansas City? Really?
Yes, I was as excited as a fat kid in a candy store when I heard that the Chiefs were rumored to have shown interest in Peyton Manning. Do I believe the move would Pey off? You bet your enlarged forehead that I do. Let me Peynt you a picture of a little math equation that I recently created.

Playing with Poetry
Alright fellow AP members, I am seeing new cliques forming throughout the ranks. I will not get into the granularity of any of the numerous discussions that have been beaten to death already. I will just state my case and say that I am all about winning. I would love to have a QB that is getting the praises of Luck, but I do not want to see our beloved Chiefs lose that many games to even be in the running. I would rather see Cassel miraculously turn on a dime, the light goes on for him, and he becomes an elite quarterback. Will it happen? Probably not, but that does not mean I am not praying for it to happen. If the light does not come on, I would love to see what we have with Stanzi. I was somewhat impressed with him in the preseason and would like to see what the kid can do under fire. I will now step down from my soapbox and treat you to what I refer to as a poem. I am bored at work and with nothing better to do, thought I would share with the class. Enjoy!!!

Whitlock's NFL Truths
Pisses me off, but basing our season off the preseason and the home opener, I can see how people would think like this. It is evident by the number of posts about us drafting Andrew Luck. Screw Luck, I would rather finish the season 8-8 than draft number one overall. I do not want to see any more crap like what was displayed against Buffalo again, EVER!!!
Ol' Horsetooth Actually Making Sense
Elway states his opinion on the top 4 positions to build around. In actuality, it makes pretty damn good sense. Relating to the Chiefs, what are your thoughts? I think we have the corner tandem and a potent 1-2 punch with Houston rushing opposite of Hali. I think Cassel has the potential to lead this team, but needs marked improvement. As for LT, Albert also needs to step it up. So IMHO, we go 2 for 4 here.
AFC West Preview
Merril Hoge and Antonio Pierce provide their predictions for division champs. Hoge goes with KC and Pierce goes with the Chargers. Funny thing is, around the 6:57:00 mark, Pierce pronounces Phyllis Rivers as the QB...
Fitzgerald a possible free agent?
Hopefully they cannot come to an agreement and we see a reunion between Fitz and Haley next season...
Talks Break Down?
Great, here we go again. Another article of talks breaking down.
More News on Judge Nelson's Ruling
More specific details to include Judge Nelson's verbiage in the ruling.
Destined for Lockout?
Adam Schefter just tweeted that the paperwork is ready to go. Sounds like this ends today. Hopefully a miracle happens, but my optimism tank is about empty.
Dustin Colquitt Speaks Out
"Obviously, we're fighting over millions of dollars. But there are people in this world that fight over water and food and necessities like that," Colquitt said. "If we can look at it like that, I'm sure they can come to an agreement and we can keep on playing."
^^ This^^ It swells me with pride to think that one of the most rational statements made thus far has come from one of our own.
Willie Roaf One of 17 Hall of Fame Finalists
Here's hoping Willie gets on his first attempt. Damn I wish we had some more linemen of his caliber.
Champ Bailey in KC?
So I'm confused. The link claims that the Bailey rumors have been running rampid in "red town." Has this been discussed here?
Returning Home...
It's been awhile since I've revisited the homeland. I was born and raised in the Independence area where I grew up and lived for 24 years. I joined the Navy late and met my lovely wife in San Diego. I sort of got stuck out here in Dolts country, but I've never lost my love for the home team. I don Chiefs gear practically year round and I do so with pride. Listen...
Vote For DBowe
NFL has posted miscellaneous game pics from this past week and are asking fans to vote for their favorite. Our very own Dwayne Bowe is one of the candidates, so ensure you get on there and vote often.
Philip Rivers' Son?
If y'all have not seen this video, it is pretty damn funny. This kid is pretty upset about the Chargers getting beat by the Raiders. What's sad is that I have been in this kid's shoes before, though I didn't bawl like a little Philip Rivers...
Merriman Done In San Diego
Merriman's career is over in SD. Can it be rejuvenated elsewhere? Potentially KC and would anybody here want him?
A Thing of Beauty
Not sure if you all have seen this or not, but it damn near brought a tear to my eye. It makes me proud that actors like Rob Riggle take time out of his busy schedule to promote our beloved Chiefs.
TJ "Who's Your Momma" Gone
Seattle finally informed Housh that if no trades materialize, he will be released. It'd be nice to grab someone of his caliber and experience level, but highly doubtful. Wonder if the Don is even pondering this?
Running Back By Committee - A Good Thing?
On a comment I made in another post, DanielUM referenced the success of the 2008 Patriots with the Running Back By Committee (RBBC) approach. It sparked me to do a little digging, which in turn, sparked me to write this post. Essentially, RBBC is catching fire in the NFL. Featured backs are becoming a thing of the past and coaches these days actually prefer to have extra horses in the stable. If you don’t believe me, visit Todd Haley’s ranch for validation.
Dreadful Past and Hopeful Present...
Bored off my ass at work and tired of hitting F5 every two minutes, I decided to review our past three losing seasons. Keep in mind that in that span of time, Kansas City has been sailing in rough waters. I am not here to make excuses as to why we bottomed out, but I will say that I am glad that it happened. The tracks our beloved Kansas City Chiefs were on seemed to lead down a darkened tunnel, with no light at the end. We fans had to strap ourselves in and just ride it out, praying for change. Change has finally come, but not before going through highs and lows that, looking back, seemed to be essential for Clark to throw up his hands and say enough is enough. After the jump, I point out some highlights and lowlights for each of the past three seasons. Highlights? Yes folks, there were actually a few, depending on what type of fan you are and how much Kool-Aid you consume.

Draft Retention (Revised)...
First off, my apologies to AP for bogus information. I mistakenly used the Colts as one of the better draft teams, but after further research, proved my initial numbers incorrect. I have removed the Colts from this thread and updated the Texans numbers from 91% to 86%. For the record, the Colts draft retention was only 69% over the course of the last three years.
Since we are all still reeling from our recent draft class, let me delve a little deeper into drafts. First and foremost, I will admit that I was a little taken aback by the brass and their choice picks of Dexter McCluster and Javier Arenas. When we gave up a pick to jump back in to grab Moeaki, I became infuriated. I was like, who the hell are these guys that they are picking when we clearly need an OLB and a NT. Insert dead horse picture here. We’ve all said it and I’d be surprised if any of you actually jumped for joy when those names were called. I will digress because that is not the reason for this post.
Poetic Flow
It's been quite awhile since I have put up a post. I've been relaxing and enjoying everyone else's fan posts. I still read everything that is AP and often chime in with my own thoughts or quirks, but haven't really felt anything worthy of posting. Reading Lanier's latest post pushed me to post a poem that I wrote a few months back.. By the way Lanier, I'm a huge Elvis fan myself. At any rate, hope you all enjoy it...
Disclaimer: I never claimed to be a poet!!!

The Lost Wager
News is slow right now and we don’t seem to have any signings filtering in, so I thought I’d share a quick story with all of you. Last year was a rough one, we all know that. There were so many games we "should have" won but couldn’t seem to close the deal. Those, my friends, are the games that cost me $100.
Packers Extend Offers (Wynn Not Included)
DeShawn Wynn may potentially become available. This is a guy who could come cheap to the Chiefs and be a productive backup to JC. He's already used to the role and could be the Thunder to Charles' Lightning...
Tomlinson as Backup In KC Might Make Sense
Claiming the KC Star is speculating that the Chiefs would be a good fit for LT. Anyone see this story in the Star?
Past and Present...
I am off today and am sitting here reading headlines, fanshots, and a lot of comments. Honestly, it’s the comments that really make me feel like I am a part of a family here. I love this site and just like so many of you have posted in the past, I just can’t seem to stay away. I am pulled to this site because of the love that we all share, the love of the Chiefs.
I was born and raised in a Podunk town called Buckner. I lived there for 24 years of my life before I joined the military. The Navy brought me to San Diego where I’ve planted my roots for the last 10 years. I didn’t stay because I wanted to, mind you, but because my wife is a native and her family resides here. Yes, they are ALL San Diego Chargers fans. Don’t fault me or look at me like that, love knows no boundaries. I’ve accepted them, but it doesn’t mean we get along throughout the season. It actually gets downright nasty when we square off twice a year. And of late, it hasn’t been pretty for me. So I reminisce of the past…

The Christmas Spirit...
Good evening brethren. And sisters. It's been quite awhile since my last post. I've hardly been on here at all lately. Between family matters, disappointing losses, and Christmas, it's just been a daunting task to sit down and login to AP. That said, the Christmas Spirit has taken hold and I felt compelled to post once again. I know this year has been crap for our beloved Chiefs, and those who stay true, well, we will eventually prosper. We all want nothing more than wins, and if Santa could put a W under our trees, that would be spectacular. It seems that no matter how much we progress, the regression overpowers the good and we falter yet again. However, I do see the light. I am a firm believer that this team is establishing itself. If you look hard enough, you can see signs of life. However small, the signs are there and the players are pushing themselves to establish an identity. I believe through FA and the draft, we can become a good team yet again. The seats will be filled again and the fans will rejoice. Well, at least that's the hope, and I refuse to let that go. The Chiefs wins were far and few between, but so far, we've got one more than we did last year. Keeping that in mind, I modified the lyrics to Faith Hill's "Where Are You Christmas?" Enjoy my version after the jump. Here's wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and as far as football is concerned, a Happier Next Year...
Steelers S Polamalu's status uncertain for Sunday's game vs. Chiefs
A Glimmer of Hope?
Fan Favorite
Not much else going on after the let-down. That is to say, the news of our two latest additions to the team. Who knows, they may be a welcomed surprise, but I'm not going to hold my breath until I see it first-hand. I'm hoping that they make such an impact that one of these guys becomes my new favorite player. Each of us has a favorite player or two on this team and more than anything, we want the Kansas City Chiefs to succeed. Moreso than that, we want a win and we want it badly. A win this weekend against the New York Giants would be miraculous, but again, I won't hold my breath. It would take a drastic turnaround from last week and God's hand to make that happen. Am I hopeful? Absolutely, but I am also a realist. But I can tell you this, I will be praying for the big "W."
