They post one of these at least once a week, and its a must listen if you're a draft nut, tamer than last week, but still good stuff.

They discuss:

1. Impact of the Cassel trade on 1st round
2. Josh Freeman
3. Impact of more teams going to a 3-4, on 1st round
4. Impact of Houshmanzadeh, other FA signings.
5. The bad class of DB's in draft

"Cutler asked for a trade shortly after the Broncos lost offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates -- Cutler's confidant -- to USC after the season. So maybe both sides need to go into marriage counseling here."

From Peter King's Monday Morning QB

Interesting, gives another perspective on why the Donkeys might have felt inclined to push a move this weekend.

This was just posted a few minutes ago...just speculation.

Sorry, boys, but I'm really depressed today.

Waters wants out.
Vilma resigned.
Dawkins to Denver.
We're trading draft picks for 33 year old LB's (hopefully late ones).
And now...maybe we're giving up our #3 pick for Cassel. I just can't accept this one, hopefully it doesn't happen.

McShay's Mock Draft:
1. Lions- Stafford
2. Rams- J. Smith
3. Chiefs- A. Curry
4. Seahawks- BJ Raji
5. Browns- Orakpo

Kiper Big Board (not a mock draft):
1. Curry
2. Crabtree
3. Stafford
4. J. Smith
5. M. Sanchez

Its interesting that McShay kept Stafford at #1 in his mock, when he's as passionate as he is that the Lions shouldn't take him #1. That said, it is a mock, and it is the Lions.

Hopefully that link will work, there is another good video of Mel going apesh8t defending Stafford to McShay here.

Offensive Coaching Clarification

From kcchiefs.com

http://kcchiefs.com/news/2009/02/19/kansas_city_chiefs_add_maurice_carthon_to_coaching_staff/

In addition, the Chiefs announced the responsibilities of six other members of Kansas City’s coaching staff: Chan Gailey (offensive coordinator), Bob Bicknell (tight ends), Joe D’Alessandris (assistant offensive line), Steve Hoffman (special teams), Bill Muir (offensive line) and Dedric Ward (wide receivers).

So, Chan is officially the OC.  Maurice Carthon is the assistant HC.

I think its still somewhat undetermined what position Carthon will coach besides being assistant HC, I'm sure that will be announced soon...or not.

Source says Cowher to Chiefs 'not going to happen'

Source says Cowher to Chiefs 'not going to happen' Babb - Red Zone

"He's said no," the source said. "I just don’t see it."

The source did say Cowher hasn't ruled out a return in 2010, but that won't do the Chiefs much good, will it?

Well, all of us that were realistic knew this was the case, but for the rest of you, I think we can put his name to bed.  Probably just bad luck, with different timing, I think he'd have been very interested.

SO, lets put the chin behind us, to me the other 'name' that is extremely unlikely but still possible is Parcells.  Until we hire someone else, or his 30 day window closes, its still a possibility.

Schefter still reporting...

Schefter on the NFL Network Crawl is STILL reporting that there are NO NEGOTIATIONS between the Chiefs and Shanahan. Mortenson or Schefter is getting played. I hope its Schefter, b/c I like Shanahan better than any options still out there.

610 Sports' Corey Anderson

Is reporting that his 'source' says the offer to Pioli is 6 years, $40 million dollars. That's a loooooooot of money.

I have to be completely honest, I very rarely listen to 610, so I have no idea if this guy has any sources or anything...just thought you guys might be interested.

RUMOR: Chiefs Holding morning presser tomorrow

Minutes ago on 810, Petro relayed a rumor that he heard that the Chiefs were holding a press conference tomorrow morning at 10:30.

This would be in ADDITION to the already scheduled presser at 3:30 for Carl Peterson.

If this rumor is accurate, given that Pioli is in town interviewing today, this could be big news, and seems to point towards the hiring of the #1 GM candidate on the market.

Here's to hope in the new year.
