So much for the "standard"

After proclaiming to the world that Arizona was the "standard" in the conference, if not the nation, it is refreshing to note that for tonights highly anticipated matchup between the "standard" and the lowly SUC, Arizona is favored by 1 point.

Yep, you heard it right sports fans, the "standard" bearers of the mighty PAC-10 conference, nay, the entire college basketball nation, is favored by only O-N-E point over Timmy's pathetic, unranked, 2 loss Trojans.

For the first time in my life, I find myself compelled to root for and utter the words, "Go Trojans"....just kidding.

Now, due to the 200 word limit, I have no choice to but go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and..whew, made the word count.

Open letter to TJ and Curry -

Dear TJ and Curry -

Thank you for your recent articles on the plight of the UCLA Bruins under their current "leader", Coach Dorrell. After having been overlooked by the media at large and disrespected by same after an "impressive" 10-2 season last year, I guess we should be happy to have your attention at last.

However, after having read your articles, it became painfully clear to me (and other loyal Bruins) that the media still has no clue why we Bruins are so upset. True, we are upset at the loss at Notre Dame, a game that by all accounts, we had won. However, our pain and anger goes deeper than that one game. For you to focus on our complaints after that one game and paint us with the broad stroke as being unrealistic or overzealous is incorrect, to say the least.

The loss to Notre Dame, while maybe not a tragedy on the scale of an airplane crash, was still devastating, considering that the game was won. What you seem to miss is that the loss to Notre Dame is not the ailment we are complaining about; instead, what you should have noted in your articles is that the loss to Notre Dame is a symptom of the ailment afflicting UCLA football right now.

As Adande and other "experts" have noted, Coach Dorrell has not won a single game against a ranked team on the road during his 4 years. Yes, he pulled off an "impressive" 10-2 season last year, yet that "impressive" record still failed to garner the Bruins any respect in the pre-season polls, as evidenced by the fact that the Bruins were not ranked in the top 25. Why is that? How can you now cite to last years 10-2 record as evidence of Dorrell's success, but at the same time, disrespect him and the team by ignoring that "impressive" record?

Our anger stemming from the loss to Notre Dame cannot be viewed in a vacuum and if you think that is the sole basis for our anger, than you are the ones who are unrealistic.

I fear...

We will end up below .500 this year. I see loses to the Cougs and Bears and yes, even $C under our current leadership. I think the Sun Devils and Beavers are going to give us a run for the money. Maybe that's the "Shock & Awe" DG needs to even consider replacing KD...

Did anyone else hear

Al Michael's comments last night about how Randy Moss failed to materialize as a leader for the Raiders? I thought his description of Moss as an uninspiring, passionless, apathetic, lethargic player fit KD to a tee.

I can't wait......

for game time tomorrow. I know we've got issues with our coaching and the injuries from last week sure didn't help  matters, but as a Bruin, I can't help but get excited whenever I see our boys take hte field. The Ducks are not as invincible as the media makes them out to be, as exposed by Cal last week. I truly believe PC and Markey can beat them and our vaunted defense can hold them...in short, its duck season boys and I've got a hankering for some duck. I think I'll stop by Sam Woo on my home tonight and get me some roasted peking duck to munch on tomorrow while watching our boys "shock" the nation, to quote from KD.

GO BRUINS!!!! and KARL, DON'T LET US DOWN AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PrimeTicket

What is going on with FSN and FSN2(aka Prime Ticket)? For the second week in a row now, the listing on gameday DOES not show them covering the Bruins. I thought it was a problem with my Direct TV, but I noted that another fan had similar problems on TimeWarner.

Chicago Bruin T-Shirts

Received my UCLA-ND T-shirts the other day. Looks awesome. Can't wait to wear it to my local watering hole on gameday. Hope KD and his crew will have learned a thing or two by then....
