learning from the rams
I'm 20 years old and i first got into football probably when i was 9 never payed much attention to details just loved to play on rec teams and watch games. i got into middle school and found my real calling was for playing soccer (what a wimp right?) so basicly my only ties to football were madden video games and watching the ravens play on sunday. when i was in about the 6th or 7th grade i watched the 99 stlouis rams season video and was fascinated by the rams offense i always knew they were good but watching the whole tale was truly magical. Ravens fans always get on my nerves around here so I really wanted a diffrent team to follow and watching the st louis rams tear up opposing defenses was so fun and entertaining to watch, so quickly i became a big time ram fan grabbing up kurt warners biography and a adam archuleta jersey ( I even bought his workout dvd for Christ sake.) But until maybe 8th or freshman year did I really follow start following stats and realize how crucial the draft was. And about that time the rams started to go really down hill and ask anyone around steel town sparrows point and they'll tell you im the only ram fan on the peninsula. And I don't claim to know everything or exactly know how a franchise works because im still learning season to season and I think the rams are teaching me a lot about football right now. I know its still early in the season and 4 wins might be all that we get. Couple things i have learned this year though about nfl football in general.
1. Your quarterback makes or breaks your franchise
2. Defense does indeed win championships
3. Big free agent signings don't always help your team in the short or long haul
4. Players buying into what the head coaches are saying make a world of a diffrence
5. DRAFTING right, yes the caps are to make a point haha but we've all seen how pitt new england and baltimore draft vs oakland detriot and buffalo and even us and you can see why those franchises always seem to be in the post season year in and out. and i'm aware the 4 teams are doing well i'm just makeing a point about the past.
again I know this post sounds like something a elementary kid would write because it's so general and uses horrible grammar but I'm learning (not English) and I think every game and ram season i watch i kind of see what to do and what not to do. Trial and error my friends. GO RAMS!

Dennis Morris for Davis Hall Deal 8/30
As you guys have heard we acquired Dennis Morris Through trade with the Redskins for Hall Davis. I know we lack Defensive Ends and are Tight Ends have been playing pretty well I'm not going to panic and rant but I just want to show you guys a video and see your opinions on the deal. According to Yahoo Dennis Morris was not going to make the 53 roster cut. Davis was impressive week 2 with 2 sacks against Cleavland so we shall see how this turns out.
we here alot about the draft but...
How about the free agency? I really think the free agency is equally important as the draft. The pick ups we've acquired have been a real success I do realize their has been disappointment in some maybe but they defiantly have helped a lot. Jason Brown, Mike Karney, and the safety James Butler (literally) are all true nfl starters and have had a positive impact i think we can agree.
This is my opinion and a pretty simple one. Fill your needs in the free agency and Draft by the best available player mindset. Because in the NFL and especially the rams players get injured all the time and some do not rebound after it and you do not know when this is going to happen or at what position so mine as well go with a safe approach. With free agents you know a little more about what you're getting. You know how they play, how productive they are, and you can make an assessment to see if he fits into your system.
My real reason for writing this is to see who you guys think we should pick up. Heres just a couple guys that come to mind.
Arron Kampman, he doesn't belong in a 3-4 defense i really believe he was a lot better in the 4-3 and he is a pass rushing nightmare age might be a little bit of an issue, 29 years old still has some good years in the tank.
Johnny Jolly, Ray Edwards, Seymour, Winston Justice, Chase Blackburn,Miles Austin?, and Vincent Jackson
Sorry the list was so vague im watching the world series and im getting really sleepy so please comment on who you guys think would be a good pick up?
warning on kyle boller
I know he had a decent drive and topped are season best with 2 touchdowns. But i live in Baltimore and i got to see him plague the ravens for years. He is a decent quarterback but he makes mistakes at the worst times and isn't consistent in his performances. I do think his legs helped out alot today and he can roll out and throw pretty well but i think we already have enough 1st round busts on this team and to add another one would be kinda ram like. If you thought bulger was bad you do not want to see boller behind center. He's like a pretty whore evreything looks good and your haveing a blast then you wake up with a burning sensation with no cure to the damedge that is reeked upon this orginazation. Sounds harsh but he has a loseing vibe to him. We need someone fresh and ready to start a new era. I just pray the rams dont get attatched to him. But I do wish him the best of luck lol
where do we go from here?
I know it's the first game of the season and it wasn't a good start to the rebuild of the Rams. But i do believe some of it brought out things that will happen later this season. We're just very inconsistent and do not have big play makers on offense. We have to give Steven Jackson more carries because bulger passing every down just isn't working and Steven is supposedly are star. And basic football is if you run the ball it opens up the passing game and we have avery for a burner who can definitely run a fly route successfully. Are defense is pretty much thier but this pass rush is unacceptable this unit needs to perform. Because if the slightest pressure is thier we have 2 ball hawking safteys who can make plays along with the defensive backfield. defensivly i think we didn't do that bad we just have to be consistant. over all I think we put this behind us and keep trying diffrent things that work.
vobora and smith starting?
I just read from stlouisrams.com that these guys are set to start for the opener. The smith i kinda had a feeling might happen but Vobora really surprised me. I think he might do pretty good and i'll be looking for his number all game. Pretty cool how the last pick of a draft is starting. And hopefully smith can contain the seahawks line. How do you guys think Smith and Vobora will do?
Rams Football
the rams won tonight and are 3-1 in preseason but since i live in Baltimore and could not see the complete game until NFL network shows it. but the ravens made the falcons look stupid. they had their 2nd offense and defense in for the most part and made the falcons look ridiculous we should be able to do that the ravens have no names playing defense at times just hard workers who find their place due to leader ship and how the coaches position them. The rams are in progress the only thing they have to do is have consistency year and year out i see this as well as any ram fan should. I just came back from the bar so excuse my English and grammar mistakes i make. But we got something special brewing in st Louis right now I see a team that has excellent character, skill and discipline. And the years to come we wont deal with bull sh*t we want players who can make decent plays or just stay discipline enough to make others make plays so we don't have these 60 yard runs. Spags is makeing his team slowly but surley we got some old pass rushers L.L and james hall. Both are insane espically Little but if you look at it Spags has yet to begin his Strategy he loves pass rush and exotic blitz's he has some of that in place and its sad that he brings in gary gibson who had shown more then carriker that is a 1st round calliber player and garys starting over him. Spags knows ball players and he will straigtn this team out. I'm calling this out i might be too drunk but the rams in 3 years will be in the super bowl no DOUBT!
The Rams future
I really about had it with the rams this past year. It just seems like since 2002 and 2003 the rams have been losing great players due to injury, age, and bad decisions made by the front office. After losses of kyle turley, dre bly, london fletcher, aeneas willams, Issac Bruce, Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner, The Dounut Brothers, (timmermin and mccollum) etc. We had idenity then. They where very skilled and played through pain and never had serious injurys (sorry turley) they jus could play football and had a winning vibe to them. And thats what i think Spags is doing today for example as well as the off season. We never had a good full back since Hedgecock, so what did we do? got rid of linehan's hybrid leonard and got Karney. And the o line was bad so he sighns Brown where starting to get people who can make plays not jus fancy popular players that where good in colledge. Hence Hill and Klop have left the building. If your a player who simply can not make plays and gets burnt or drops passes time and time again or is inconsistant they dont belong on the field because its makeing decent people look really bad. Spags i know for a fact plays unselfish football thats very tight knit and plays as a solid unit. This will be a good season because he will see first hand who can play how they react in the locker room and how well they bounce back. Reminds me of vermeil except he doesnt show his passion in his emotions. But you cant judge him until hes coached a year. All i know by the decisons made this off season and how things are going so far this team looks to be headed in the right direction
Klop is gone! and Roster moves
man today must be trash day in st louis. Klop and Hill? Lets keep piling in linehan's junk in the dumpster i can't wait to see who else goes. Adam Carriker, Alex Barron are on my list to most likely go during the next off season. Bulgers future really depends on this season as with all of them. But he's the only one who has proven anything in the past so until we find a direct replacement hes staying. Who do you guys think is going to get cut? or added as of that matter.
Anybody else think the rams have a curse?
the more and more i watch and look at the rams. it jus seems like its bad luck all the time whether its injurys or a play that goes horribly wrong when it shouldnt. maybe jim haslet put some of his old voodoo he brought from new orleans before he left haha. But you think about some teams in sports like the cubs it seems likely. usually saying teams are cursed is just an excuse to how bad the team sucks. but somthn aint right since the 2002 superbowl and the loss against the pats this has been a diffrent ball club. i mean we where stacked back then i dont even have to list all the greats. but i think when martz was coaching it really screwed us hes a brilliant cordnator but a awful coach. decisions like bulger and warner. even though bulger had more upside. he had a nack for finding great offensive players in drafts though. kevin curtis and shaun mcdondald. but again screwd us with archuleta, and the 3 dt's that were busts. which lead tot scott linehan and he wasnt much of a coach at all he really jus made the problems worse and tried to make an exsiting struggling team better. Coach spags is a great man for a one year coach hes impresed me hes made tough decisions but hes getting rid of people who wont fit in his system no matter what they are supposed to be and what they where. And theirs no doubt in my mind this football team is going to the superbowl in the next 3 years. we must get rid of what doesnt work. stop giveing players time to set in their poisoin and rot the team from the inside out like a barron or carriker. Whether it be a curse or not look for the rams to reverse it and start puttn w's on the board
Marc Bulger
In my opinion Marc Bulger is still a very elite quarterback he can throw into tight coverage he just risks too much. but about his accuracy, release, and intelligence i think hes never changed the only problem i have with him is hes not mobile he's very slow and he really does his damedge out of the shot gun. And another thing that he misses is torry holt and issac bruce they are greats they can make any quaterback look good. kurt warner has pretty much only done excellent in teams with great recivers and a line. with us and arizona. the giants he didnt do so hot due to a run happy offense at the time and so so recievers. I'll stand behind marc til he gets replaced traded released retired you name it jus because hes our qb. jus like our president even if you hate him and hes doing a bad job you have to respect him because hes leader in chardge. but i do think we have to think about our future options. After all it seems your team is only doing good as your quaterback is (few exceptions for the most part true). The draft is very far away and jus takeing a glance at it that thibou or however the heck you spell it. is a winner but just reminds me of a alex smith in a way lil more elusive. and colt mcoy aint bad but im not gonna jump on band wagons because i havent seen enough of either to really have an opinion. But lets jus all hope and pray marc gets the job done this year.
Offense and Defense Predictions
I want to see where you think the rams will rank in the nfl when the regular season is done.
Offense 19th. they will run the ball alot getting decent yards but passing i think they jus dont have enough fire power and thiers way too many quistons about the offensive line and bulger and the young receivers. again they will be solid and be able to score alot more then the past 3 years.
Defense 14 I really think this unit is going to surprise evreyone i think the coachs really have this team set up for the next few years to be a real contender we have alot of youth at evrey position and savy vetreans right thier showing them the way. if the team works on tackling and take advantage of a poorly thrown pass to to the pass rush or jumping on an exposed ball they will really get evreyones attention.
all in all im really optomisitic after a couple years of not wearing my rams jersey out in public (haha) i think they will be 8-8 i think that would prove what good coaching and great moral charicter can do to a team. maybe playoffs as well depending on how the nfc west does but thats a whole diffrent story
St louis Defense
I live in Baltimore but am a huge ram fan. i got to watch the jet game but couldnt see the falcons. I was very impressed by how smooth evreything went against the jets and they have a decent running game. it kills me how solid they play they will shut a team down and let in a 50 60 yd gain one play and its awful i swear they are the most frustrating team out thier haha. and the defense always picks awful 1st rounders look at damionie lewis, pickett, and kennedy they never did a thing really. hopefully long and carriker will change that. and even look at the linebackers. we havent had a true middle linebacker since london fletcher left us and he never gets injured. will did a ok job but belongs on the outside. in my opinion pisa was a dissapointment to see go. the man was a play maker who played thru injury and always was top 3 in tackles. with him will and james i think wed been a lil more solid. and as for our db's they are pretty solid thats one thing i think we really did good on and shouldnt have an issuie with. Bartell and hill are very talented and oj atogwe is emerging to be one of the top safteys in this league. and Butler seems to be solid havent seen to many giant games but i kno he doesnt make many mistakes and hes around the ball alot. as for depth i think thats are most solid unit on defense. wade is impressing me and fletcher seems to be catching up on things. I have high hopes for this st louis Defense. they will easily be top 15.
