Fab Melo ineligible for NCAA tourney
Despite earning a No. 1 seed in this year's NCAA tournament, Syracuse now faces an uphill battle in their quest for a national title.
The Orange (31-2) announced on their website Tuesday that sophomore center Fab Melo will not participate in the tournament due to an "eligibility issue."
"Given University policy and federal student privacy laws, no further details can be provided at this time," the site said.
Melo was held out of three games earlier this season while he resolved an academic issue. Syracuse went 2-1 during that absence.
The 7-foot center has averaged 7.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 blocks for the Orange who spent a good portion of the season ranked No. 1 despite multiple off-court distractions.
Syracuse, given the top seed in the East Region, opens play Thursday at 3:10 p.m. in Pittsburgh against UNC-Asheville with a possible third-round matchup against Jared Sullinger and Ohio State.
Demolition set to begin!
The structures surrounding Memorial Field will be demolished this summer but the field itself will remain intact until the construction of a new basketball practice facility begins at some point in the future. A steep slope on the site will also be stabilized. The $800,000 budget for the project will be funded by private donations, the university said.

the '05-'06 uconn huskies center that could have been and the one that was...maybe we would have been just that little bit better with bynum that season, and george mason would still be an nobody university. and of course we'd have won our 3rd 'ship (just maybe).
thought i'd share
Todman slighted by Doak Walker semifinalist list. Country's #2 RB doesn't make top 10 list, curiously

Bills 4th-round pick Marcus Easley will be appearing on ESPN on Thursday (April 29th).The wide receiver will be interviewed on ESPN’s First Take show at 11:30 am, which airs on ESPN2.
Easley’s appearance is likely due in part to the fact that the UCONN campus is just a short drive from ESPN’s Bristol, Connecticut studios. Nevertheless it’s an opportunity for fans to get a feel for one of Buffalo’s newest wideouts.
LETS GO BUFFALO!

had a nice little convo with our favorite center, the dove, this past weekend. first, wholeheartedly agreeing the female talent at uconn is garbage...but more importantly we talked about recruiting and scholarships and such. he said that we were losing two players to "the transfer" which would open up TWO more scholarships. yessir!
trice was one of the names dropped and the second was up in the air. we talked about how the next savior, brandon knight is the most amazing this since porter's spirit hand dance.
he also said that doron lamb would be wearing the husky blue and white, so....of course taking the always intelligent dove with a grain of salt, some interesting info. he also said our newest version of ed nelson, olander, can flat out ball (for a white guy) and is super athletic
then basketball talk was quickly ended when a drunky asked him how big his "brandon knight" was...
