I am 32 years old. I live in Lexington, Kentucky (HOME of the Kentucky Wildcats!) where I was born and raised. I graduated from UK in 2002. I have an adorable five year old son. I am a HUGE UK fan and have been for as long as I can remember, and being employed at another Kentucky university, tend to take quite a bit of heat for it! I recently finished my masters degree and plan to become a teacher. I definitely "bleed blue" and LOVE talking about anything UK. It was actually quite a blessing to find this site. My stepdad is an avid UK fan but the rest of my family are very mild UK fans (as in they enjoy watching a game if they happen to be home with nothing to do when one is on tv, but have no desire to sit around and discuss every facet of UK there is). So, ASOB has become my haven, so to speak, where I can sit and chat with others that hold UK as dear to their hearts and lives as I do!

Giving Up The Fight
Ok. I am here today to say that I am officially conceding the Billy Gillispie plight.
A Christmas Reflection: Our Progress Thus Far
A note from Ken: kentuckygirl has written an outstanding poem commemorating the 'Cats, so outstanding that it certainly deserves to grace the front page of A Sea of Blue for Christmas. Thanks kentuckygirl, and a Merry Christmas to you, as well as all of our faithful readers!
This is just a little holiday poem I put together at the request of JLev. I had forgotten how much fun this was for me! I hope you enjoy it. Merry Christmas ASOB! :)

Darnell Dodson Arrested
Looks like this is proof that the reason Darnell Dodson isnt on the team any longer is: Darnell Dodson.
Cal's comments to the media when Dodson left the team - along with some rumors I had heard about Dodson - made me think his off the court presence might need a little work. Darnell has a lot of potential. Here's hoping he realizes it and reigns things in before they get out of hand for him.
Izzo Is Thinking About It
Seems Tom Izzo had a meeting with his team and told them that he has "alot of thinking to do."
Cleveland Coach Mike Brown Fired?
Wonder if Cal will need to make his statement one more time... ;)
Calipari Presser
Coach Cal will hold a press conference at 3PM this afternoon.
Also, Lorenzo Romar will be holding a presser of his own at 6:30PM.
HAT TIP: KSR
Wall and Patterson Presser
I am SO going to miss these guys. Its really even hard to put into words just how special this season was. I loved this team more than any team I can even think of right now. It sure was a fun season and I feel certain there wont be another one like it for quite sometime - these guys were just too special.
For me, personally, this marks the second season in a row that ended with tears - fortunately these tears are for a little bit different reason. ;)
Gillispie/Floyd Prospects for Houston Job
I'm sure everyone knows my opinion on this - I just can't wait to see Billy back on the sidelines again!
Tubby to Auburn?
A co-worker came by and told me about this earlier this morning. Appears to be rumor at this point. The link I gave is kind of the jist to what is out there about it right now. I, personally, wouldnt mind having Tubby back in the SEC. Anybody heard anything on this?
Tyler Smith kicked off UT basketball team
I, personally, can NOT stand Bruce Pearl but I have to give him credit for this decision. Guns are no joke. I think he did what he had to do in this case. As Tru always says, your mileage may vary.
Looks like the fate of the other three Vols involved is still up in the air though it has been decided that none of them will play in the upcoming game against Kansas.

UK Football Freshman To Be Charged With Assault
Hat Tip KSR.
...as usual the comments over there on this are disgusting.
UK Basketball Releases Three Walk-ons
Looks like Matt Scherbenski, Adam Delph, and Dwight Perry have been dismissed from the team. The only walk-on that will remain is Mark Krebs.
From WKYT's website:
Sources have told 27 Sportsfirst that 3 Kentucky Basketball Walk-ons will not be back next season.
Matt Scherbenski, Dwight Perry and Adam Delph have been dismissed.
Coach Calipari told the media in one of his earlier press conferences that he would only keep a few walk-ons.
With these players leaving it ups the total to 12 players that have left the program.
Mark Krebs is the only walk-on left on the team.
Thoughts? I hadnt heard about this and saw it on KSR. Needless to say, there were a wide range of comments over there.
Sad and Disgusting
I hope Erin Andrews keeps her head up and does not allow this disgusting behavior discourage her.
Landon Slone
Seems as though there were quite a few Kentucky fans that were really upset over the whole Landon Slone "situation" - specifically that Slone apparently wanted to meet with Cal and wasnt able to and Cal's "apology" tweet sent out in reference to that. I was just curious as to what people here thought about the whole deal.
I, personally, was not really bothered much by the whole situation and was kind of suprised at the number of people that were really upset and the level of the complaining over this. I wish Landon much luck and success in the future wherever he goes.
Oh Yeah
A friend of mine sent this to me this morning and said that she got chills watching it. I checked it out and couldnt agree more! It's going to be a GREAT year to be a Wildcat! GO CATS!!!!
USC Coach Making Headlines Again
...only not in a good way this time.
Dear Wildcats
Dear Wildcats,
Please accept this letter of encouragement and support.
Go out there and have some FUN and leave it all on the court!
Meeks - here's hoping, you have another high scoring game.
But we'll gladly take your average though since that will work just the same.
Patterson - get mad and mean and show them you're our beast!
Block all their shots and rebound, too - and one NASTY dunk, at least.
Mike Porter - believe in your shot. We all know its there.
When they leave you open and dare you to shoot, sail that ball right through the air!
P.Steve - you've showed us your skills and made some damn big plays.
We need your A-game, that's for sure, today above all days.
Ramon Harris - we all know, on defense your the man of the hour.
Making scorers disappear tonight will be your super-power!
Liggins - be steady, be strong, and be sure to make good choices.
That combined with your passing skills and your sure to raise some voices!
Darius Miller - be confident! You have done this all before.
You've scored some points and made some plays, now go out and get some more!
Galloway - you may get some time. Make every second matter!
Heart and toughness in minutes played - that's how you climb the ladder.
J. Harrellson - keep fighting and scrapping like we all know you can.
Your gritty style of play makes you our "garbage man."
AJ Stewart - show us your skills when you are put to the test.
Help keep the team on an upward keel when giving our big guys a rest.
To the guys on the bench - there are some that wont see the floor tonight.
But you are all still part of this team and this is still your fight!
To Billy Clyde - coach your heart out, and let's go and beat the Gators!
After the win, you'll hear the crowd roar and drown out all the haters.
Here tonight the losing stops! Bring on the change of plans!
Just know we're here and we've got your backs; Love, your UK fans.

Meeks Makes History: Oh What a Night!
Surrounded by a sea of orange, Kentucky took the floor.
They had won their opener in the SEC, but they wanted something more.
Tennessee and Kentucky is a long-time rivalry, that's true,
But tonight there was a special feeling in the air for the team wearing blue.
"Rocky Top" was blaring its ode to the mountain man.
The whistle blew to start the game and history began.
A few minutes in and it was clear that Jodie Meeks was "on."
The Vols would need some defense quick if not to become his pawn.
They tried all different combos, but Meeks' shooting was divine.
"I had my hand right in his face and, hell, I'm six foot nine!"
Dont worry, Wayne, it's not just you. No one could hold Meeks down.
He can shoot from anywhere - up close or from downtown.
JP Prince tried and failed. Pearl searched his bag of tricks.
It must have been empty though cause at the half Meeks had twenty-six!
Second half, more of the same, Vols fans are feeling low.
Kentucky fans were loving life and enjoying the one-man show!
Meeks shot the two, he shot the three, he was perfect from the line.
But then the history happened and sent shivers down my spine.
Meeks had already tied Tony Delk in most threes in a single game,
But tonight he sunk TEN and put that record in HIS name!
The crowd amazed and speechless, Meeks continued his hot hand.
No more "Good Ol' Rocky Top" coming from the UT band.
Meeks, again, went to the line and the Vols were looking shifty.
The shot went in and to Bobby Maze, Meeks smiled and just said, "Fifty."
Fifty points and still not done, Meeks left us one more token.
Four more points - thats FIFTY FOUR - Dan Issel's record BROKEN!
Issel's record set in 1970, was before young Jodie's birth,
But tonight a prophecy was filled, Meeks DID inherit the Earth!

T'was The Night Before Tip-Off
T'was the night before tip-off and all through the house,
Coach G had some game films and his team he did rouse.
"Come on boys, no time for sleep. There are plays to be learned!
Let's get up and watch tape leaving no stone unturned!"
The team had been nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of National Championships danced in their heads.
Mike Porter in his 'kerchief and Jodie Meeks in his cap,
Rubbed sleep from their eyes as "G" began his recap.
"We're seven and three and we'll keep getting better,
But its gonna take more than a new Christmas sweater!"
The team saw their coach standing there in his tie,
A devilish grin on his face and a gleam in his eye.
He was dressed all in blue from his head to his toes
This guy sure means business, they all thought as they rose.
The team gathered round their coach by the fire
In all of their hearts burned the flame of desire.
"Appalachian State's first in our rivals' hometown
So they'll be the first to receive their beat-down!
Tennessee State is next, just before Christmas Eve
The only gift we'll give them is a reason to grieve!
Christmas Day we'll have practice and you can just call me Santa
Anyone absent or late will run from here to Montana!
The next team in line is Florida Atlantic
We'll be ready to sink them just like the Titanic!
We play Central Michigan just before the New Year
By then, winning's easy - Cant you hear the crowd cheer??
Then, boys, its time to make the Kentucky name known
By giving Pitino and Louisiville a little "gift" of our own!
See, while Louisville is ranked and too big for their britches
It's the perfect time and place to make them our bitches!"
Now seeing his team all fired up and hype
A tear from his eye, ol' Billy did wipe.
And they heard him exclaim as he walked out of sight,
"Merry Christmas, boys, the future sure does look bright!"

Cat Vegas
After winning at Rupp in game one and game two,
The Cats headed to Vegas - and were followed by Tru ;)
Kansas State was up first in our Vegas showdown.
The crowd made them feel like they were in our hometown!
The first half was great. Meeks played like a dream!
Going in at the half, he had outscored their whole team!
The second half was different, and not in a good way.
K-State was coming back. They had turned up their play.
Their shots started falling. Their defense got mean.
Soon they were back from being down seventeen!
Coach G went to Liggins to come into the game
Who stayed in his seat saying, "Thanks all the same."
But the Cats scratched and clawed and won according to plan
WIth Meeks our "High Roller" and Billy G. our stickman.
A close win by two and 20 hours gone by,
It's the Cats and the Mountaineers coming in off a high.
So, we won by two and they crushed their opponent.
A win here makes us champions so we need to own it.
The game started out, our Cats came out slow.
Our turnover total, continued to grow.
Bad pass by Porter. Harris gets stuck.
For being in Vegas, we arent having much luck.
Both teams playing sloppy, struggling to score.
We'd get in a few shots, but they'd get a few more.
Down by 10 at the half - Will the Cats win???
Hell yeah - this is Vegas! Now, hit me again!
Somewhere in the second half, we decided to play
With sophomore Josh Harrellson leading the way!
Pat Patterson, double-double in the City of Sin
And tonight even Liggins agreed to come in!
They dug in and fought. Our team scored at the line
And since Huggy Bear's couldnt, the score realigned.
Nine minutes to play and we take the lead!
A roar goes throughout the great Big Blue sea!
54-43, Kentucky is the winner!!!
Champions in Vegas - Winner winner, chicken dinner!!!

UK/UNC: A Poetic Reflection
Who is that, out on the floor?
Cant be Kentucky - have you seen the score??
It is Kentucky! I hoped I was wrong.
Why are they wearing shorts that are so long?
Get me the phone - I need to place an order.
Yes, I'd like a new point guard, one that ISNT Mike Porter!
Dickie V. is killing me, think I'll turn on the radio.
Is Meeks playing basketball or Hot Potato??
He shoots on the pass wherever he stands.
I have to believe the ball is burning his hands.
Miller and Liggins and new guys we've chosen,
Look like deer in headlights - just frozen.
Where is P-Pat, isnt he on our team?
A victory tonight feels like a pipe dream.
Why is Stevenson at half court? Where is Galloway?
Why do we keep giving the damn ball away???
We're getting killed out there, just murdered on the court.
What ever the plan was, Billy G. should abort!
Our defense is failing, our offense shut-down,
We have to figure out how to turn this around.
Well that game is over, a loss is once more.
So, let us mourn FOR TONIGHT our basketball score.
But, tomorrow a new day will begin,
And soon our team - KENTUCKY - will win.
We'll win one game here and another one there,
And soon Big Blue Nation will have to declare,
The season's not over, we've been given reprieve!
And all it will take is for us to BELIEVE!!
GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is everyone???
We have a BIG game today and I, for one, am too excited to focus (fully) on work! I am ready for GAMETIME!!! I thought I would open up a fanpost in case there are others out there -like me- ready to get fired up about tonight's game!!!! This can be our own little "war room!"
Funny story - A Louisville fan stopped by my office today and said that he heard the federal government was working on a "bail-out" plan for Kentucky's basketball team. I have to admit, I DID think that was pretty witty, being easliy baited as I am, I responded with, "Yeah, just wait until we knock off number one tonight!"
(BTW, this is my first fanpost, too!) GO CATS!!!!!!!!
