Also, Danica Patrick nearly ran me over with an electric scooter in the Paddock Saturday thanks to me somehow ending up in the paddock without a paddock pass.  He's even smaller in person than I imagined; he'll grow up to be a handsome young man once he cuts his hair and hits puberty.

Ashley Agerenza, 19, has been charged with child abuse, resisting arrest and battery of a police officer after an incident outside Extreme Tan and Smoothies in St Petersburg, Florida.

Police said she first took the child inside the salon, but was told she could not leave the baby while she had a tanning session.

She then took the child back out to her car, strapped her into the car seat and turned on the engine, before returning to the salon.

That play that Byrd made on Sloppi with Buck's bloop single (Buck is on waivers, seeing how HBC values catchers so much) was nice and slick.  Sloppi gets LVP awards for not taking a couple of extra steps down the line.  There's no way Byrd would have been able to make a throwback to catch him.

Also, Microsoft makes lots of money on XBox Live, and Activision is pissed about it:

In a new twist on the "Twilight Saga: New Moon" movie-taping controversy, former defendant Samantha Tumpach has become the plaintiff.

In a lawsuit filed today in Cook County Circuit Court, Tumpach alleges wrongdoing at that hands of the movie facility where she was arrested in November 2009 after employees caught her recording segments of the tween vampire hit with a personal video camera.

She remained incarcerated from Saturday Nov. 28 to Monday Nov. 30. On Dec. 11, the charges were dismissed.

Tumpach, 22, is suing Rosemont's Muvico movie theater for more than $50,000, charging malicious prosecution, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and defamation.
"She has suffered great public ridicule, embarrassment, humiliation, inconvenience, damages to her reputation and other damages," the lawsuit states.

Tumpach was taken into custody last November after theater employees said they saw her recording the popular vampire movie. Only a few minutes of footage was on the camera. Tumpach said she was only capturing the festivities of her sister's birthday party.

Less than a month later, prosecutors dropped the felony charges.

Tumpach said in her lawsuit that she and her family had been celebrating her sister's birthday at the theater, using digital cameras to take photos and videos of themselves. Tumpach said she videotaped the opening of the movie "hoping to capture the title and beginning as a memory of this exciting event."

She later recorded a minute and twenty-five seconds in hopes of capturing "her favorite actor take his shirt off," the lawsuit states.

Tumpach alleges that instead of telling her that she could not record in the movie theater, the theater manager contacted the police.

Laugh you may have when you heard that Kevin Costner was stepping into BP's oil spill disaster with a potential solution, but BP has now snapped up 32 of the centrifuge machines to help separate the oil from the water.

The technology was created by Costner's brother, with the actor pumping in $20m over 15 years. While 40,000 barrels worth of oil is leaking into the gulf of Mexico each day, the V20 machine can clean up 200 gallons of water a minute.

Horrendous the spill disaster may be, but it's terrific well-known personalities such as Costner and James Cameron are leaping forward with possible solutions to clean up the gulf. [ABC via The Guardian]

LORETTO, Ky. — It seemed like any other day at the Maker's Mark Distillery, as workers dunked tops of whiskey bottles into tubs of red wax. Only this time, the bottles were different — and so was the bourbon.

Since the late 1950s, the quaint distillery tucked into the Kentucky hills has churned out just one product — Maker's Mark. That's changing with next month's introduction of Maker's 46, a close cousin of the original but with a different aging method in the final weeks to give the whiskey a distinctive taste.

While the world of expensive spirits is rife with offshoots, Maker's was steadfast in clinging to a single product until now.

"This is our first creation in 52 years, and it really is a creation," Maker's Mark President Bill Samuels Jr. said. "It's not like it's Maker's with a couple of more years age on it."

To create the product, master distiller Kevin Smith started with Maker's and dabbled for more than a year before hitting on the recipe.

Whiskey barrels storing Maker's are emptied so workers can insert oak planks inside each. The barrels are refilled and aged two to three months longer than traditional Maker's, which ages six to seven years. As Maker's 46 mingles with the wood, it takes on stronger hints of caramel, spice and vanilla, Smith said.
