I'm off the clock (and loving it) after co-owning an Ace hardware store for 26 years.
My wife and I have had the unending pleasure of living on Keuka Lake since 1985. Our dock is the longest around so the blue herons like to stand on the end of it and look for fish. We have owned many boats including a 21', 1956 Chris Craft Capri, a DN iceboat, an M scow sailboat and a jetski. Toys are good.
We had one child who has graduated from high school and is now off on her own.
When discretionary imcome allows, I scuba dive in the Caribbean. Love it.
By far my biggest toy is a 29", f4.5 newtonian telescope with a 7" Mead Maksutov piggybacked on it. The tube on this scope is 36" in diameter and 10' long. I built an observatory for it on the bluff between the two branches of Keuka Lake. The dome is a converted silo dome 20' in diameter. Views through it continue to take my breath away. We've had 1200 power on the moon and up to 500 power on planets. As a light bucket it is unexcelled on deep sky objects. There's lots of detail in the arms of the whirlpool galaxy. We use a binoviewer on globular clusters. M22 in Sagittarius fills the field in the binoviewer and looks three dimensional. I have way too much money in eyepieces. A great hobby I will enjoy and share with others for the rest of my life.
