Dallas Cowboys New Orleans Saint's Gameday Thread

Time to end those December woes Dallas Cowboys. Holding Drew Brees to those short passes out into the flat and making solid tackles will be key to stealing a win in the Bayou. After watching each of the past few Saints games, the Cowboys have to take advantage of the early mistakes that the Saints tend to make, while limiting their own penalties. As good as Drew Brees has been, he's not superman, and to be blatantly honest, I think he's a little overrated. This cowboys team never does what anyone expects them to do. With all the pundits in the world against them, my prediction: Cowboys pull out a victory 30-24. Discuss!

Ps, Saints fans have got to be some of the most overconfident fans in the world. But then again, so must Cowboys fans.

Ownership Thoughts

So forgive me if i lace this post with grammatical errors or stupid thoughts, this past week has been mentally draining (final exam week). However, I just had some thoughts about the Ownership situation that I would like to hear some feedback on.

Does the aspect of getting a new owner excite you or strike fear into you about the future? The aspect of losing Nolan and/or JD with a different ownership group scares the crap out of me. Do you guys have a favorite for the ownership group/ a group that you definitely do not want to see buying the team?

Basically we have team Gilbert (with a potential replacement GM in Kevin Towers - aka a situation that makes me queasy), team Greenberg (if I had a "favorite" replacement owner it would be him), and team Crane (who I have the least knowledge about).

OT Dallas Cowboys Gameday Thread

Let the first sunday of the NFL season begin! I for one am incredibly excited to see what Cowboys team will come out today on the road after playing games at the Death Star in Arlington. To be honest, I expect to see them come out a little flat. The key to the game would be to stay in the game early, even if they fall behind to give themselves a good opportunity to take the game in the second half. My prediction 31-17 Cowboys.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/preview;_ylt=AqpaW4riRzj3LlDtwAo6AapDubYF?gid=20090913027

Oh yea, that dude in purple, whats his name? That old man.. Brett Farve is playing too. He wont make it through the season.

My prediction for the player to tear his ACL today (someone prominent always gets hurt for the year the first game)... Donovan McNabb.

As much as I hate using Fox News, http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,529328,00.html. Billy Mays died today unresponsive. He was an awesome pitchman, with his show Pitchmen. With Products like orange glo, oxyclean, and his own brand of shams. He was the 'infomercial king'. I was going to ask you guys, what your favorite product he endorsed was. Personally, i liked the ESPN 360 commercial. pure hilarity. Discuss amongst yourselves!

TR Mailbag

So T.R. has a new mailbag up with some slightly intriguing questions that are asked.

Why did the Rangers designate Franklyn German for assignment to call up Kameron Loe, if they were just going to send Loe back to the Minors a couple weeks later? German seemed like he was contributing.
-- John M., Denton, Texas

The Rangers were concerned with German's inability to throw strikes in crucial situations, but that's a problem all through the bullpen. The Rangers lead the league in walks by relievers and they have allowed the second highest number of inherited runners to score.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So this is definitely why Ron Washington brought in Robinson Tejeda yesterday right? A bonafide show stopping run stopper. At least German would have been a better bullpen option than bringing up Kam Loe and successively Robinson Tejeda.

Shall we do another question?

Ken Rosenthal said that the Royals may make Zack Greinke available and would be looking for positions players at the upper levels. Given the fact that's the Rangers' strong suit, what would it take to get him?
-- Cameron P., Wylie, Texas

At least two of these three: Davis, Elvus Andrus and/or Max Ramirez. Still interested?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hell Yeah im still interested. I would trade Elvus and MaxRam for Zack Greinke. A guy with Ace potential for a shortstop who is in all likelihood probably not going to hit that much better than average and MaxRam who would be blocked by Chris Davis, Taylor Teagarden and/or Salty. Trading Andrus and MaxRam is not going to deplete our farm system, but it would significantly help the major league club with Greinke.

here's the link

http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080602&content_id=2825767&vkey=news_tex&fext=.jsp&c_id=tex

Finally! I know that everyone wants to see Chris Davis at 1st, and with Max Ramirez taking 1st base practice he's obviously also in the consideration for the 1st base job, but JMJ is playing very well as of late. Even with the game that Chris Shelton played today, I think that Mayberry definitely has a more than slight chance of getting a good look with the Rangers pretty soon. Junior went 2-3 in today's game and hit a homer. Sorry if this has been discussed in another thread.

JMJ's stats

Blake Beavan made his debut tonight and a very good debut at that. 6 IP 3H 3K 0BB. You can't ask much more out of a 1st rounder. Frisco's offense is amazing, with 6 guys hitting above 300 with Gentry at 291. Ben Harrison has three hits again. Hunter and Hurley both pitch late games tonight.

Oh the incredible powers of the word limit. By the way, this town is now a hockey town until august and september, probably until july with mini and training camp for the cowboys.

I would like to get people's opinions on Kasey Kiker vs. John Danks. Who do you think will have the more productive career long term/ who has the better "stuff." Who would have benefited more from being a left-handed pitcher in Ballpark in Arlington? Also, do you think that Kiker will progress similarly to John Danks through the minors, or will he move faster or slower? Do you think that Kiker's size will pose as a serious road block in his progresssion?

Danks's Stats up to Kiker's age
