I don't know how many of you gents are into mma but being as bored as I am at the moment I thought I might throw this out there. Who on the Jaguars roster would make the best ultimate fighter? Things to take in account would be speed, reaction, strength, stamina, and any previous specialty training such as wrestling or bjj. I know Donovan Darius used to train mma for great cardio workouts. I also believe Michael Westbrook from the Redskins has a few professional fights under his belt. Anyone seen the clip of him busting in Stephen Davis's head at practice? Anyways, who would make the best professional fighter or I guess you could answer what Jag can put a whooping on all the others? Again, I'm just a little bored and not much football related going on right now.

As the leaves started falling last year I knew it was time to start spreading the word about my beloved Jaguars and the BIG things that were about to happen... I would tell my buddy Daryl (diehard Pats fan) that "This is my year!" He would politely tell me to shove it and remind me about the pretty rings on that dude's hand that sleeps with all the models... Needless to say, things went downhill fast.

Now that a new year is upon us I'm sitting thinking about what we need the most for this to be a successful campaign. With solid oline depth and our druggie wideouts gone, that left me with one thought. Getting to the QB. An important part of any contender is being able to rush the qb. That means Harvey and Groves stepping it up and giving us some production. Getting pressure on the QB will eliminate guys like Manning and Brady being able to sit in the pocket and pick us apart, If you disrupt the timing and get in their face, you have a chance. How you feeling about our top picks from last year?

So how does everyone feel about our draft? I saw it this way...

Positives: We got one great tackle that will hopefully be an anchor for our line for a long looooong time. W/our second pick we added quality and much needed depth. The rest of our picks show some promise and were much NEEDED, not really BAP in some instances but deff. filled some holes.

Negatives: I have no idea why we would give up next years #2 and a #7 for #3 pick this year...I hope this kid can play. I would've prefered to save next year's #2 we need all the picks we can get. If you value picks over players then making this move really shows what you think about a player! I hope Gene is right.

Overall I think Gene did an admirable job. I do happen to think that crabtree w/be a playmaker and wonder how things would've shaken up if we took him and w/our second pick gotten the OT? That immediately adds to two different needs but the Monroe pick is very safe and he provided awesome value at our pick.

I guess we'll have to wait a few years to see if ol' Gene was right or not. I'd give this draft a B-...Due to trading away a future pick and some major needs are maybe being met by some late draft picks. What do you guys think?

I think that a lot of people are assuming/hoping that we get one of the top three tackles in the draft, but what if the top 3 are taken by the time we get to pick? Would you go ahead and take Oher that soon or trade back and hope that he falls to us? Maybe you would take a look at DB or best available player at the 8 spot? I've been looking at the draft order and there's a few teams that IMO will be looking hard at Matt Cassell. With Warner probably retiring or resigning with the cards this leaves Cassell as the best available QB on the market. I can see the Lions and Cheifs deff. being interested. Maybe the Lions will trade number 20 (which would be dumb IMO) for Cassell and get their stud LT with number 1. Scott Pioli the new Cards GM formerly of NE could also use this strategy. Anyways I guess there's a number of things that could happen, just hope we don't get screwed out of a tackle!!! Excited to see how things unfold.

Welcome to another losing season?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Wow who would've imagined this at the beginning of the season? This is rough man... It didn't kick in until right about ......now lol. I deff. see a a big change in coaches/players coming up. I guess we get a high draft pick huh? I can only hope that we trade out of the spot for a couple players or get a serious impact player, which is what what we need imo. We have MJD who can break some plays open for the most part but who else? Garrard gets the ball rolling but I believe that a reciever who can actually do something after the catch would work wonders!!! Crabtree??? Will he be available? Probably not. Anyways, what a rough year. Here's to next year, cheers.

We suck at free agency boys and girls, bottom line... It seems like we shell out big bucks for mid-line players.. When's the last time we got a "big" free agent pick up? Porter, Florence...eck nothing seems to really work out for us. I'm not saying that the big names will always get it done but jesus something's gotta give. Where would we be right now if we took the chance on Moss? I believe in building through the draft and filling in the spots, but if you're gonna spend...... spend god dammit!!! lol I've had enough of this mediocre bullshit. I'm just thinking about what this year "could've" been... Here's to next year....... sigh .........

Alright, top 5 jags that have ever played the game???

1.Fred Taylor
2.Jimmy Smith
3.Tony Boselli
4.Mark Brunell
5.Keenan Mcardell

Some might think this is lame but it's something to talk about I suppose? In my opinion Taylor is a top ten back in the history of the NFL. He only has one pro bowl in his resume but is on his way to surpassing jim brown on the all-time rushing list and possesses a rare combo of speed and power. If he were in a bigger market he'd get much more love.

How you guys feeling about brian williams moving to safety? He has played the position before and I do believe he upgrades us at safety but where does that leave our cornerback crop? Florence has good potential but he was the nickel in san diego and is now expected to be our #2? The only thing that really bothers me about this is the lack of depth at the corner spot. How does everyone feel about sensabaugh, can he get the job done??? This is my first post, new member of Cat Country. Fan from day one.
