Knicks not serious about keeping David Lee
Is anyone else interested in David Lee? The thought of pulling off a sign and trade for him (maybe throw NY Tyrus and Tim... Tim for the expiring and Tyrus because they could evaluate him for a year and either sign to a long-term or not pick up his option next year) is really growing on me.
Lee is incredibly efficient, finishes well of pick and rolls with both hands, beast on the glass at both ends, runs the break really well, solid defensively, and is really starting to develop a more all-around offensive game. I think signing him to a 5yr-50m deal could be a smart move because, assuming he continues his offensive development, he could either team with Joakim to be our frontcourt of the future OR we can use him to get Bosh in a trade next year since Toronto will want something of value in return.

Bulls have deal in place?
I'm linking Poopsworld again, I know, but this caught my attention due to the certainty in his tone. Here's the excerpt:
Argie Grigorakos in Toronto, Ontario, Canada:
Hey Bill, Have you heard any rumours about the Bulls in regards to BG, the Draft, or Free Agency. Thanks.
Bill Ingram:
They're set on bringing back BG, but expect to see a major move involving one of their front court guys. I can't say more than that, but there will be a deal . . .think about what they almost did at the trade deadline.
Does he mean back court? That would make sense in regards to the almost Hinrich to Minny trade. But front court? What deal almost went down at the trade deadline? Anyone have any ideas?

Poopsworld tantalizing Amar'e speculation
Here's the comment that got my attention:
Jade Wilson in Arizona:
Hey Bill is it likely that the suns trade shaq and Amare? If so who plays the four? Will then will there be a chance to draft a d blair or earl clark?
Bill Ingram:
Amar'e . . .yes. That Chicago deal that almost happened isn't dead. Tyrus Thomas at the 4? But not sood . . .Amar'e's eye is still very much a concern.
He also says that the Shaq to the Cavs rumor is nonsense... so what if Gar Paxdorf could actually pull of an Amar'e trade? Would it be TT (Marion 2.0?), Tim Thomas (played well for the Suns in the past), Jerome James and #16 for Amar'e and filler? Is that enough? Does VDN have an Ainge/McHale relationship with Kerr that we can capitalize on?
Is Amar'e even a good fit for us? With Noah and a physical big on the bench, I say yes.

Trade proposal - Noce to Raps
After hearing Pax's comments about him 'actively' looking at trade proposals, I started thinking about what teams right now would be really willing to deal. It's got to be either a crap team looking to shed crappy contracts (Like Sac insisting Kenny Thomas go with BMiller) or a big time underachieving squad that needs a shakeup. Under that category it's undeniable that the Raps are at the top of the heap.
The knock on the Raps so far has been their un-inspired wing play, lack of 'toughness' and underachievment of their #1 pick from a few years ago, Bargnani. Seems like the door is open for Pax to help Colangelo remedy those issues.
Here's my proposal: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=2456~3028~3030~2987~2010&teams=28~28~28~4~4&te=&cash
That's Noce + Thabo + Simmons for Bargnani + Kapono
For the Bulls, the main incentive is to unload Noce's contract. Getting back Kapono, who's contract runs thru 2010 (he has player option for 6.6m that year) isn't ideal but he is a dead-eye shooter who can now hit 46% of the threes that Noce now takes and hits at at 37% clip. Plus I really don't think his d is that big of a downgrade from Noce. Yes, Noce still flops his way to some offensive foul calls and will valiantly try to guard 4's, but I can live without that if it means 5 less years of the overpriced and aging Argentine. Plus that means VDN is forced to give TT more time in the 4th quarters. And Bargnani - all I can say is he only has this year guaranteed, so if he plays well in pick and pops with DRose, keep him for one more year. If not, let him loose. Saves us dollars to re-sign Gordon in the summer or go after someone else.
For the Raps, they get supreme Intensity! from a wing position, a good, young athletic guard in Thabo that can spell the shell-that-was-Anthony Parker, and some inside help from Simmons, who can steal a few minutes for Bosh/O'neal, who don't have ANY inside help at all. I really think they're fed up enough to take a gamble on Noce bringing a fire to the team that re-ignites them. Plus, Colangelo LOVES the euro ballers, so to get a two for one swap might make him drool.
I'd love to see this happen as the first of maybe two deals Pax makes before the deadline - the second of which would shed either of Hughes/Gooden/Hinrich for a more useful big man (ala BMiller or Kaman) or give us big time salary relief for next year and 2010.

Beasley's line in his first game
Not trying to gloat or anything, but, check out Beasley's box score from his game against the Knicks last night:
4-14 from the field, 1-5 from 3 pt land, 4 rebounds! In 27 minutes! Against Zach Randolph and the Knicks! I know it's his first game and all, but I agreed this summer with the Derrick Coleman comparisons, and this is the beginning of the proof. He might light it up once a week for 30 pts, but I don't see consistent greatness from this guy. And he definitely would not have filled a need for the Bulls - five 3pt attempts! No matter what, he's not going to be an inside scoring presence. Have fun Miami.

T Time...the other one.
In Swirsky's latest edition of orginazational "reporting" (though it seems he might be the only media they've let in to watch practice), he leaves a juicy tidbit that might be a harbinger for Thabo's expected playing time (about three quarters down):
Steve from Galena, IL: Chuck, can Thabo Sefolosha deliver?
Chuck: Vinny Del Negro and the staff will give him every opportunity to succeed and play this year. The rest is up to the player. I have not seen a lot of Thabo the past two years but I can tell you that pro personnel people love his upside and athleticism. He should be able to thrive in Coach Del Negro's system.

Bulls invite three to training camp
[From the FanShots. Roger Powell! -ed.]
I've only heard good things about Elton Brown, so maybe he's got a shot at making the 15 man roster.
Roger Powell and Darius Washington are probably just warm bodies.

New Sam Smith column on BG
[From the FanShots (you guys are fast). I don't agree with all of his points, but it's good to see Sam talking Bulls. -ed.]
Sam is back on HoopsHype with a little 'insight' on Ben Gordon-gate. Pretty entertaining, as usual.

Nocioni hurts knee vs. Greece
I can't find anything written about it yet, but I saw a reference on Thorpe's latest chat that Noc hurt his knee in the game - the best I could do to find info on it wasto watch the recording of the ARG v. GRE game in the link above. It happens when he pulls down a rebound off a missed dunk just a couple minutes into the fourth quarter, though it looks like he was favoring it before that. He played on but was taken out and obviously hobbled. Might not be anything serious, but you never know...
