Buffalo signed Terrell Owens and the town didn't burn the football offices down. In fact, I think the fans were totally behind it. If owner Ralph Wilson, desperate to catch the Patriots, thinks Vick will help, I can see him wearing a flak jacket to take all the criticism.

Ranking the QBs -- AFC East

The quarterbacks in the AFC East are no different than any other division; the better the play at quarterback, the better the team and for the most part, the better division ranking. He's a closer look.

via blog.pigskinpundits.com

1. Tom Brady -- New England Patriots - Tall and limitedly mobile, Brady throws a very nice ball. His throwing motion, is also just nice. But Brady excels at carving up the defense, as well as hitting the short passes. Swing passes and slants seem to set him up greatly for success. He is an excellent leader at his prime, and at the very top of his personal game, and the entire NFL for elite quarterbacking.

via img.fannation.com

2. Trent Edwards -- Buffalo Bills - Tall and fairly mobile, Edwards still has a young quarterbacks nack to tuck and run and make some significant yardage. He seems to have slightly unique footwork, and throws good, accurate ball many times, but it lacks confidence at times, and his indecisiveness shows with his passes. He has lacked rhythm, and is too safe, but seems to have a good head on his shoulder. He needs to energize the offense and turn into a leader or he will not come near elite status.

via nflplayers.me

3. Chad Pennington -- Miami Dolphins - Little athleticism from Pennington and limited arm strength, have hampered his career, but he can be lethally accurate, and knows when and where to throw,as good as any QB, but either has suffered from a bad team, or has been let down by his own physical limitations, which have included a laundry list of shoulder injury. A strong leader, he has hit, and passed his peak, and his decline will be more evident as every season passes, possibly every game.

via i.cdn.turner.com

4. Kellen Clemens -- New York Jets - Unfortuantely, the rookie incumbent Mark Sanchez has been drafted, and will most likely be squeezed into the starting position, but it is my opinion that it will be lead to failure. And because I Sanchez has not played, I can't speak of his pro play. I also didn't hate what I saw of Clemens a couple years ago. He has a strong arm, has a good physique, and is still an unkown commodity in many ways. Because of his long absence from the field, it is hard for me to gauge his mental grasp of the game.

I predict that the ranking of these QBs will reflect the pecking order in the division. Second place does not guarantee a playoff berth for the Bills, but it gives a chance. Hopefully some parity, and mediocre records across the conference, will get 9-7 a playoff berth, but my guess is if Trent Edwards can't bring our team 10 wins, and that is what I believe he has to do, then we will not make the playoffs. The QB has to lead his team to the next level. If he steps up, I am confident the team will rise with him. If he fails, our team will not be up to the task, and will fall below .500 for the fourth straight year.

While we are going TE, DE, OT and OLB crazy...coming up with scenarios and scoffing at the mocks...I wanted to take a minute to share and give a forum for sharing, some memories of maybe the greatest Bills player in history....#78...Bruce Smith.

With a need at DE, and with his induction a few months away (anyone going?) it seems only fitting to name one of the best players at the position in NFL history, and a player who single handedly ruined the playoff and super bowl dreams in the early nineties of Dan Marino, Joe Montana, John Elway, and Warren Moon (all hall of fame QBs) and aiding his own HOF gun slinger, the only one of the five to call his own plays, Jim Kelly.

Bruce was the man, a beast among men. While he was a Bill for a few years before we won our first of a string of division championships and six straight playoff appearances, maybe seven or eight (not sure, am not looking it up) he was the one player teams had to gameplan for, and for the most part it didn't work.

He was the number one selection in the 1985 draft...a very good draft at that...and as a bill he came in a bit heavier than his consistent weight of about 270, but after some steroid allegation he did slim down to that weight and was as dominant against the run as he was the pass. So many tackles behind the line of scrimmage, so many times double teamed, making mediocre defensive lineman look great (Jeff Wright, Phil Hansen, Leon Seals) he was the anchor of a good and sometimes great D, that was known for the bend but don't break philosophy, but should have been known for making the big plays when it counted.

Basically, i am making this post because of all the DE talk in regards to the draft and as a place for us to share some memories of the Bruce.

I met him only once at the Marriot Hotel in Amherst, NY, while he and Darryl Talley were signing autographs at a card show. He wasn't very nice, but I didn't and don't care (Talley was very nice) and I also know he bitched about money every offseason, never showed up for mini-camp, barely for training camp and never played in the preseason, but from September to January, he dominated, and minus the Super Bowls, which I care not to start breaking down, always showed up in the big game.

I guess, when I think about Bruce, and my favorite on the field memory of his, is not one play in particular, but after those big plays, he started the fad of having a signature move after the big sack or tackle for the loss (what was it exactly?) and of course, his big smile on the sideline after we had kicked somebodies teeth in, and especially the Raiders after the 51-3 dismantling, blood on his pants, smiling. That was one of the highest highs as a fan...I will always remember and grateful for those years, and for Bruce, the biggest star of them all....

Curry slipping to the Bills?

Curry slipping to the Bills?

If this scenario happens, the Bills should take him...I would if that means anything

"Could LB Curry be option for Bills at 11?
By Chris Brown - Posted April 21st, 2009
With the rapid ascent of USC QB Mark Sanchez into the top 10 and Missouri’s Jeremy Maclin reportedly coveted by Oakland’s Al Davis, a premier linebacker talent could be slipping all the way out of the top 10 in Wake Forest’s Aaron Curry.

Once thought to be a lead pipe lock top five pick, Curry is sliding according to several draft insiders because he’s considered by most to a be a strong side linebacker. That’s the one that grinds with the tight end in the run game and does most of the dirty work.

If Curry slips out of the top 10 and is still on the board when the Bills pick, that’s going to make for a very difficult decision. Strong side linebacker is unquestionably a need, and Curry might be the safest pick in the draft, but he is not going to help your pass rush.

I want to say that a pass rusher is still the play at 11, despite the trade of Peters and the possibility of Curry slipping to 11, but Curry is special. If he slid that far it would really give me pause if I had to make that call.

Granted, Buffalo could still get a solid linebacker prospect at 28, 42 or heck even 75 that could compete for that starting role vacated by Angelo Crowell.

But Curry is a great talent and a future defensive captain (he has that kind of presence). If it’s Everette Brown and Aaron Curry at 11, it’s a good dilemma.

If you believe in getting your big men early you take Brown and help Buffalo’s pass rush. If you believe in trusting the value on your board I think you take Curry. What would you do?"
