I just thought it would be awesome to tell people, especially Longhorn fans like myself. We bought a new puppy, miniature schnauzer and we decided to let my 5 year old daughter name him. Without skipping a beat, she promptly said, "his name is Jordan, like Jordan Shipley, my favorite player." After her birth, this was the proudest day of my life...

If Texas wins Saturday, is it an upset...?

So, I had read somewhere that OSU was looking at possibly wearing all orange on Saturday night and thought I would check their official website to see if any details could be found there. After finding nothing, I stumbled across the transcript of what players and Coach Gundy have said about the game coming up and figured it might be worth the read. What I found caught me by surprise and maybe I am just not reading it right or something, but it sounds like RB Keith Toston feels that a loss to Texas would be an upset...Maybe one of you guys could read this and decipher what it means...

This is not intended to be any kind of trash talk towards OSU, as I am very nervous as a fan about the game on Saturday, I am just trying to figure out exactly what Toston meant. Below is the text of the statement by Toston:

On how the hype before the Georgia game and after the Houston game will help the Cowboys this week
“It makes us have our mind on the right things, knowing that we can get upset at anytime. It’s a big deal. I think that’s what U of H did for us. We came off a great win against Georgia. We were looking at the sky as the limit and then we got swept out from under our feet and that happens. I think that was a good thing to happen to us. Now I feel that we’re a little more alert and I think it’s going to help us.”

CFN Picks

CFN has their Big 12 Outlook posted today. Surprisingly, they have Texas as a three loss team. Not only three loses, but three loses in a row. Can you guess the losses?

CFN Big 12 Picks

CFN picks Oklahoma, Missouri and Okie Light to beat the Horns in consecutive weeks and finish 3rd in the Big 12 South. As I see it, the OU game is kind of a toss up right now, until we see how well our d-line is and their o-line is.

Ok State has a highly touted team, with a decent receiving corps which is pretty much made up of Dez Bryant, a consistent QB in Zac Robinson and a good RB in Kendall Hunter, but their defense under Gundy has been pretty bad and they have a new D-Coordinator this year. The key to beating Texas for Okie State is to get pressure on Colt and pressure is not their defensive bright spot not to mention the amount of experience Texas returns on the O-line. However, Texas seems to have to come from behind in Stillwater and I guess that is why they picked Okie State to win.

The biggest problem I have is with the loss in Columbia. New offensive coordinator, probably the best player in Mizzou history gone in Jeremy Maclin, breaking in a new QB this year with the loss of Chase Daniel, and the nations best tight end last year in Chase Coffman...Really? That is a lot to lose on offense and lets just say that Mizzou is no USC. They dont just reload, they have to rebuild. Now onto the defense which lost 7 starters from a team that gave up tons of yards in the air. This due, like Okie State, to the fact that they didnt really have a pass rush. Giving Colt time to make a decision is killer on the defensive backs and, I mean, the guy did complete roughly 78% of his passes last year with a young line in front of him. I just dont see Mizzou having enough to beat Texas even if the game is in Columbia.

I understand its just one websites view of how things will shake out in the Big 12, but it still boggles my mind as to how they came up with this conclusion. I'm sure I have missed some things, so please let me know what you think.

HOOK EM!

I was wondering if anyone else is heading up for the game in Laramie? I bought three tickets today, said that they were in the Texas Donor section(???) for my daughters first "Hook 'Em" game, as she call's the Longhorns. I was hoping to find some other people that maybe we could hook up with and tailgate with before the game. Driving from Colorado Springs and we will be there sometime Friday night since we dont get off work until 5pm. So, if anyone else is going, hopefully we can get together and hang out before we put the wuppin' to the brown jersey'd Cowboys...

BTW, if anyone knows where the "Texas Donor Section" is, please let me know. I am unable to find the info anywhere...

that I will be missing all but two games this year. I will be here, and by here I mean the USA, for the FAU and UTEP games, but two days after the UTEP game I will be on a plane and headed to an all expense paid trip to a vacation hotspot I like to call Kirkuk, Iraq. My wife has promised to DVR all the games for me, but I will not be able to hold off catching scores for almost 5 months so, hopefully I can keep up with you guys as best I can.

I've also spent the past two weeks going through some awesome training for this deployment so coming back today and reading some of these posts has been awesome.

Anyway, I look forward to reading BON as much as I can and hopefully keeping up with how the games actually went since we have such a great fanbase here at BON.

Daniel Gibson is tearing up the nets in New Orleans, he made 11 three pointers during this game, a record, and led all s1corers with 33 points.

Not only did Daniel have a good game, but all the Longhorns represented well. Gibsons 33, Durant put up 23, and Lamarcus had 16. Great showing for the Horns if you missed it...

And Daniel Gibson won the MVP of the game....

Anyone watching the OU/Tech game thinking about us last year?

Watching the game and seeing Bradford on the sideline reminds me of the K-State game last year when Colt got hurt on the qb sneak. Hopefully for us, this works out for us the way it worked out for BlowU last year.
