Olivo wants to be Oleaving?

"We'll see what happens. Maybe the team will trade me. I don't know," he said. "They have said I could play some other position, but I'm a catcher. I don't want to do a bad job in another position that I don't know.

"It's a new team, new thing for me," he continued. "I've never been through this. I talked to my lawyer and they say maybe things will change, but nothing has changed. This is very hard for me, but things change and you have to adjust."

There was a time, not to long ago, when WHO was present at an organizational function with press coverage was important. When men didn't wear hats indoors and children were seen but not always heard.

Perhaps in this day it just is not as telling of a sign...but....

If we are going to let DeJesus or Teahen go soon, should they be on that stage putting jerseys on our new players and our past Royal greats?

While I have little to no faith in Odalis or Elarton because they are typified by the early-season phrase 'vortex of sucktitude'....it might not be such a bad idea to have some 'seasoned' pitchers throw to the Yanks.

In recent years we have thrown some pretty green talent at them, (often in the Bronx, no less) and have had predictable results. E. Villacis, Greinke, C. George, Mike Wood, J.P. Howell

Why not throw Perez? He definitely thinks he is better than any hitter, which is probably a good thing versus a lineup like NY has.

"It's not always stuff," McClure said. "It's competing and knowing yourself. It's knowing what you can and can't do. It's knowing your limitations and actually really believing that you are better than whoever is up there, no matter who it is.

[Odalis] Perez believes he is actually better than the guys he is facing. It's something that [De La Rosa] is going to have to get over."

Elarton also might have the memory and moxie that could get him through the order two or three times even if he winds up allowing three or four homers. That is about all I expect from most of our starters this year. Get us to the pen.

Posting Pictures Vol. II

Arguably, words are the better mode of communication in the blogosphere. That is probably why the only way to post images is still through using HTML codes as opposed to something a bit more user friendly.

But occasionally a picture is worth a ..... you get the idea.

The tutorial continues for images that are just hanging around on your computer and demand to be posted on RR....

As stated in the Posting Pictures diary earlier, any image that you want to show up in a post has to be published somewhere on the internet. Actually, it must have an "address" that the blog can go to and retrieve the picture from. This makes posting images that are already online significantly easier to post if you know the codes to get them to show up...

To get one of your prized photos posted of Gordon striking out on an inside fastball (soon to be a collectors item I hope), you need to take the picture from your files on your computer and put it online at an image hosting website. This is a very simple exercise.

Find an image hosting website. You could google "image hosting" or just use http://imageshack.us/ for a good start.
Follow directions for uploading an image. With ImageShack, this is simple. Click "Browse", select your file, and click "host it".
You should now have a list of possiblities for displaying the image.
Ignoring the myriad of options for now--we want the actual address of the image for our purposes, which would be the last option "Direct link to image"
Copy the url (http.....etc) and paste it into the image source tag we discussed in the last diary....

And there you go. Basically, once you can get a picture of yours to show up on a website you can make it show up on this blog. What website you use is of little difference. If some other picture upload site works better for you or you are already using a different website to show your Aunt Matilda who lives in Jersey your pictures of Al Gore dumping his trash in the ditch near the old Blue Ridge Mall, go ahead. Right click on the picture, select "copy image location" and paste it into our tag.

Before you freak out and resort to an alcohol-induced coma because of your lack of programing skill---remember that many other people (who shall remain nameless but occasionally post annoying items) have figured it out and you can also.

HTML code doesn't change much, so once you learn a bit there is nothing new to learn. Pictures are posted by telling the computer where to find the image. This is done through some brackets and codes that are called tags. The tag for an image looks like this...

....and is typed into your post wherever you want a picture from the web to appear.

The easiest picture to post is one already found on the web somewhere. like: the Royals Review logo. It is located at:

http://images.royalsreview.com/images/admin/royalsreview.gif

How do you find that out? 1) Mouse over to the image and right-click, 2) Select the "Copy Image Location" from the menu that pops up, and 3) paste the image location into our HTML code which would then look like this when we are typing our post...

...but would look like this when we preview or actually post the comment:

Viola! The image is now where our code was! Yeah!

Now, more information about basic web tutorials can be found at www.w3schools.com (which is where I learned my very rudimentary HTML skills).

Today's assignment: Post one picture on this thread.

Everybody now it Feels Good. Toni Tony Tone, our newly beloved Jalepena has in only 8 games effectively doubled his career line in RBI, total bases, and is slugging a grab-the-doggy-bag, I'm going to puke, no Royals SS has ever .552 with four triples. Holy DeJesus! (Or maybe-- Holy Smokes & Gee Whiz) No one can expect him to continue along this lines (especially against lefties) but due to the early season effect mentioned by NHZ; his begining of the year production will keep many off of his back as he spirals back down to a more pedestrian Royal output.

It was also nice of Alex Gordon to drop by. Congrats again to Royals Retro and lordbyronk our closest prognosticators by virtue of picking their inning. Leo, marbotty, and Gordon Rocks also chimed in with last night's game as "the one".

Alright, place your bets. Pick your date and inning. Make sure to list the count as a tie-breaker. It absolutely has to happen at some point. Right?

If we had an actual pub we definitely would start a home-run jar. One person gets a chance to hold the jar when he's batting. If he doesn't homer, you add a dollar. Or a calendar with innings, counts, and names. In lieu of that...

April 12, off of Trash-chel, 3rd inning, 1-1 count.

AND IT looks like: Royals Retro and lordbyronk split the 3 dollar grand prize. Maybe we need a bet every night?

Not much in the article other than a brief mention about La Comb:

Tony Pena Jr., the Royals' new shortstop, falls into the same category. He, too, will never hit like Hall, but his defense is so good he needs to be only adequate offensively.
Pena went 2-for-3 with two triples in the Royals' 7-1 victory over the Red Sox.
The shortstop he replaced, &$^$&#, had one triple in 474 at-bats last season.
