Canal Street Chronicles Random Musings

We are in another world that we have NEVER been to before.  It's like being on Star Trek... exploring strange new worlds.  Undefeated... errr... ummm... Saints?  11-0???  I know I am dreaming or on life support somewhere but if that's the case... just leave me right where I am!

I live in Cowboy land.  Home of the Death Star.  And guess what?  The game against the Saints is three weeks away and guess who they are talking about... you got it... the Saints!  That's when you know your team is big time!  When your team is the hot topic of conversation across the country and when they are the TEAM TO BEAT!

And... what am I supposed to do with the Saints all but assured of at least a first round bye?  In seasons past it's always been about checking out the standings and trying to figure out how the Saints would be able to claw their way into the playoffs... either by one team losing or some other winning.  Hell... I would cheer for that most hated of teams (Dirty Birds) to win if it were to help the Saints in securing a playoff spot! This year I don't have to!  So how do I replace that almost favorite pastime?

So now I have a very very good team to cheer for and... I can't believe I'm saying this... EXPECT to WIN!  Not just show up and give it their best shot... but to actually expect greatness!

All I can say is... enjoy this with every fiber of  your being... this is OUR team that we've been waiting for since they first came into the league.  WE deserve this... the city of New Orleans deserves this... and we may never get the chance to bask in this kind of glory again.

Geaux Saints!

Canal Street Chronicles Uncapped Season

Quote from the front page "But with an uncapped year looming, they won't be able to back-load his contract ".  So I've played enough Madden NFL to understand that you sign a player to a contract that increases exponentially during it's duration in order to have a lower cap number starting out.  At least that's what I think?  So... how does next year being uncapped affect this years signings?

Any and all are welcome to make me feel like a dumbass now!

Canal Street Chronicles Stuck in the wrong TV market

Didn't get to see the game Sunday.  How is Carl Nicks looking?  I haven't heard anything bad and that's normally a good thing for an offensive lineman.

I'm thinking Nicks will continue to start even when Nesbit returns from suspension.

Along those same lines... what about Lance Moore?  I find it hard to beleive he will not continue to be in the starting lineup for the rest of the season.  His numbers have spoken for themselves.  Of course with Brees on fire right now, I could probably catch that many passes!  Oh... and I think Devery has found his niche.  He's a really good 3rd receiver/home run hitter.  Kind of reminds me of Alvin Harper except that Harper was the number 2 receiver.

Geaux Saints!!!

Canal Street Chronicles Carl Nicks

While I am a diehard Saints fan, I can't say that I'm a fanatic when it comes to the draft.  This for me, right now is the most exciting time of the year.  Hope springs eternal and all that crap!  But it's for real.  Everyone can see their team making the superbowl at this time of year.  There's even a Falcons fan out there that is delusional enough to think it!

One of the things that is exciting is trying to get a feel for the players that will impact the team this season.  Which will stay, which will go.  Even though it all starts up front, you don't hear as much about the offensive lineman.  I continue to hear about Carl Nicks this preseason.  For an offensive line that seems to be set in stone, it seems this rookie is getting his fair share of press.  I searched online to see if I could find anything else about him and I came up with a combine workout video.  I was amazed at the athleticism of such a big man.  And he looks powerful as well.  I didn't get a chance to see him in the Cardinals game, but I am truly excited about the possibility of him unseating a veteran this year and using his skills to open up some holes for our running backs to run through.

GO SAINTS!

Canal Street Chronicles Audio Clips

I live in DFW and at night, but well after Bobby and company are on, I can pick up 870AM.  So, I'm really appreciative whenever you have links to the broadcasts the next day that I can listen to while I'm at work!  Awesome job with everything you do!

I am a diehard fan and the folks who live in NOLA or nearby and get to see the games and experience the chance to talk about and share your love of the team with your neighbors and friends... you just don't know how lucky you are!!!

Thanks!
