Talking Chop At Home with Jason Heyward

If you haven't yet, try to catch At Home with Jason Heyward on Fox Sports South. It's a really cool interview from start to finish, and briefly chronicles his playing career from when he started playing at age 5 up until his 2010 season.

Aside from having to listen to Brian Jordan call him "Haywood", you get to see his childhood home and hear his parents and little brother talk a little bit about the journey to the big leagues, his prep teams, the draft, etc. The best part, for me, was hearing Jason talk about what was going through his head when he got called up and recanting his opening day at-bat versus Zambrano.

Talking Chop J-Hey's HR 3rd Longest All Year

I was just watching MLB Network's "Biggest Blasts of the Year". At 474 feet, our beloved rookie HOF'er (shut up) crushed the 3rd longest home run to be hit all year with his first swing ever in the major leagues. That's pretty freaking awesome, especially for a 20 year old who has yet to reach his power prime and whose swing "lacks the uppercut necessary to be a perennial 30+ HR hitter". Pffftttttt....I had to make this a post (sorry if it's already been mentioned) because I still get goosebumps every time I see the replay. Chip's call was pretty cool too, as much as he sucks he got this one right.

Also of note, Jim Thome was peppered ALL OVER the list. Every time I looked up he was trotting around the bases. He hit the 2nd longest HR of the year as well. Dude can still hit the ball a LONG way.

Edit: Josh Hamilton was number 1 on the list at 485 ft.

Talking Chop TC Fantasy Baseball Draft Results: Best team?

Sunday night, a mix of 12 frequent posters and (ashamed) lurkers of TalkingChop.com joined together to draft their collective teams. This league's biggest strength also presented it's biggest weakness: Would the dozen Braves faithful select too many players from their beloved team too early, too often, and in excess? Would too many Philthies and Mets players fall by the wayside because quote, "I don't care how good he is, I'm not putting him on my team!"?

In the end, battle was done, casualties were stacked in piles, dejected managers with buyer's remorse aimlessly wandered and pondered why oh why they ever selected so and so at such and such spot, and elated managers rejoiced at their low-risk high-reward value picks. To the victor will go the spoils, as they say (I don't know who "they" are, but rest assured, "they" say it). But that leaves the elephant in the room yet to be discussed. Who is the victor? Who came out on top when all was said and done? You decide! After the jump, of course...
