I was there ya know. Yeah, it was called the '80s. Ford was President, Nixon was in the White House and FDR was running this country into the ground. I was bummin' in a hole-in-a-wall town in what is now called Utah. Some fella from Colorado shows up, starts making so called "improvements", right? Before we knew what hit us, the streets are running with latte'."NO" It got so bad that a fella that liked to, you know... smoke a little grass or drink a little ripple. Crow like a rooster, maybe challenge the mayor's son to a gentlemen's duel, was "uncouth, against God." More like bad for real estate values. So we had to go!

Texas DT Coach, Mike Tolleson rumored to not return next year
As per Bobby Burton, from 24/7 sports.
Great Story on Colt from Dawgs by Nature
Great story by Bernie19Kosar from Dawgs by Nature on Colt's 1st gig at QB for the Browns. Very well written.
Honest Predictions
Be honest with yourselves. Do you really think Texas pulls it out. I'd like to see the true general assessment in regards to the outlook the BONers have for the Longhorns Football Team. I for one, see it as being a very close game, and I have yet to decide who would win it.
Remember, you have to be honest with yourselves. No homerism, no blatant pessimism. Just honesty. I think I'll find it interesting to see the outcome after tomorrow.
Enjoy the game. Hook em!

Brock Fitzhenry is Taylor Martinez this week.
The scout QB this week will be Taylor Martinez per Jeff Howe from 24/7sports. They are using him to emulate the speed and quickness of Taylor for the defense to become accustomed to taking the correct lanes and angles for the tackle.
Will Muschamp also stated that Chris Jones will be doing some reps at scout QB this week as well.
Great way to Start Off the New Year in 2011

Lets Step Back from the Ledge
I remember a certain gem that 54b wrote a few years back asking, "What kind of BONer are you?" I've always figured that I've been a very optimistic fan, that at times fails to keep things realistic in his optimism. I guess you can say that about alot of my favorite sports teams, as I've had to have learned patience after growing up an Astro and Oiler fan. I'm not one to throw in the towel, and I'm not one to give up on a season in which so much can happen. Remember 2007? After OU beat us, did anyone ever think that Rutgers would have a chance to play for the MNC? Kansas? Missouri?

Return to the Desert: UCLA Preview
Hey guys, sorry about this, but I never got a chance to get a RttD this week for UCLA because I've been in the process of moving and also the new MMA blog over at Fantake just launched. Scipio Tex and I will be writing over there for MMA news and whatnot, so along with trying to get the internet hooked up in my new home, I was busy with that and work.
Needless to say, I didn't churn out a preview this week, and I apologize. However, all is not lost. Scipio Tex from BC has a great breakdown, although a bit depressing and unnerving about UCLA here and here. Enjoy the previews and enjoy the game. I'll be back with the RttD in late October, as TES and PB have Oklahoma and Nebraska covered respectively. Enjoy the game and hook em horns!
BON Preview of the Texas-Wyoming Game
Hey guys. Longhorn fan here, and I was letting y'all know that I posted a preview of the game tomorrow over here at BON. You're more than welcome to drop by and give your opinion, as I certainly appreciate feedback from the opponent. I wish ya'll the best of luck tomorrow, and for those who are making the trip to Austin, enjoy the hospitality and most of all have fun. Austin is a great city with an amazing fan base. We'll treat y'all right!

Return to the Desert: 2010 Wyoming Cowboys Preview
Bumped. Thanks, kriess! Good stuff. Hook 'em! --PB--
Last year we took the trip to Laramie, Wyoming and left with a 41-10 victory, although the game at halftime was very indicative of our usual "slow starts". We had to get accustomed to the altitude, the poor special teams play, and all around poor play in general. Fast forward to a year, and a BCS MNC loss later, and we're in the same boat of some sorts. Against Rice, we got out to a slow start, had poor special teams play, and the running game never got off like we would have hoped. What can we expect from Wyoming this year? Well for one, at least we know who their starting quarterback will be. Thats always a plus.
Wyoming is coming to Austin on Saturday with a heavy heart, from a fallen Cowboy, who passed away last Monday due to injuries from a car accident in Colorado. Ruben Narcisse, a freshman LB, will be honored by the Wyoming Cowboys all season for the next 4 seasons by wearing his initials on their helmets, and each week a player will get to wear # 12 in memory of Ruben. DKR will hold a moment of silence in memoriam and the Band will play a tribute to the Wyoming Cowboys. For those who are planning to be at DKR, make sure your horns are up, and your heads bowed. Further information can be found at this link.

A Return to the Desert -- 2010 Rice Offensive Preview
-Last year I had a series of previews (although my busy schedule didnt allow one for every team) called the "Leave No Doubt Tour 2009". Well we certainly didnt leave any doubt as to whether we deserved to return to the Promise Land in College Football, also known as The Rose Bowl. Problem is: We came up short. And numb. And blindsided. But alas, we have moved on and realized that we live to play another day. We have a chance to once again return to the Grand Stage if we play our cards right.
This year, we have no need to remove all doubt. This year, we start the dynasty. This year, we redefine Texas Football. This year, we silence the critics and whiners (I'm looking at you Bo Pelini). This year, ladies and gentlemen....We Return to the Desert!

The house that John McCain built, but Quan Cosby tore it down.
After a hellacious 8 months of zero Texas Football, we are back! This Saturday, the Texas Longhorns travel to Houston and Reliant Stadium to take on the Rice Owls of the C-USA. This is a low-caliber opponent to start off the season, but exactly what Mack Brown and the Texas Longhorns need to refine the new schemes they plan to unveil as the season progresses. After the jump, lets dive into what to expect from the Rice Owls and how well, or not well they match up against our Horns. Also, please check out Mr. Bean's quick take on Rice and also Scipio Tex's preview from BC.
2012 Texas prospect, Matt Davis, Injured in Loss to Cinco Ranch Tonight
2012 prospect out of Klein Forest HS in Northwest Harris County (Houston) was injured in the second quarter against Katy Cinco Ranch on opening night of football. It was a knee injury that took him out of the game, and Klein Forest coach, Keith Hammock stated that it could be serious, possible ACL tear.
Also, Daniel Lasco from the Woodlands rolled his ankle and sat out the rest of the game after the 2nd offensive series. The injury appears to not be serious. The Woodlands beat Monterrey Tech (Yes....from Mexico) in a rout, 44-7.

Texas RS Fr Tight End, Trey Graham, Out for the Season with Knee Injury
After losing out on TE recruit Austin Sefarian-Jenkins earlier tonight, we get more bad news that RS Fr TE Trey Graham is out for the season with a knee injury. Although it was unlikely that Trey would have had much impact on gameday, he was in contention for the blocking TE position along with EBS and Ahmard Howard.
Texas officials have stated that this is a right knee injury and will require surgery. Seems like out TE woes keep getting worse.
Also, Greg Timmons had a neck injury in practice and was hospitalized. He is expected to recover and return this season.
Dates set for Austin Super-Regional against TCU
We take on Texas Christian University for the second year in a row at the Austin Super-Regional and the game dates and times have been announced.
Friday, June 11th at 2pm (Texas Time) on ESPN2
Saturday, June 12th at noon on ESPN
Sunday, June 13th at 3pm on ESPN (if necessary)
Yes, the game is on national TV. You're welcome Texas fans. Obviously, the winner of this Super-Regional gets to punch their ticket to Omaha to play in the 2010 College World Series in Rosenblatt Stadium. This will be the last CWS to be played at Rosenblatt. Lets take that honor of winning there, back home to Austin for the 7th time. Hook em!
Houston-area BONers unite!
I've seen this link on a few SBN Houston-teamed blogs (BattleRedBlog, DreamShake, etc..) and think this would be cool idea for some Houston area BONers to meet and talk about....what else? Texas Sports.
Free Drink Specials too.
Go to the link and RSVP if you wanna go. Its going to be on Thursday, June 10th if anyone is interested.
Memo to UT baseball fans: Step back from the ledge.
I wish you would step back from that ledge, my friend.
Lyrics to a song, yes; but they convey a plethora of meaning in relation to Texas athletics this season as well. We had our National Championship dreams taken away for the past year in numerous sporting events, and I'm not gonna lie to you...it takes its toll. From losing to LSU in Omaha, to choking away a 2-0 game lead against undefeated Penn State in Volleyball, to a freak accident in the BCS National Championship Game, and to watching our extremely talented basketball team implode on their impressive 17-0 run to start the season. Sure we have Men's Swimming and Diving to hang our hat on, and while its not exactly Women's Equestrian or Pork judging, its still not on a level as the Big Three.
And now, we have come to another road block. Our beloved Heart-Attack Horns of last year have resurfaced its ugly head, making our BP and BAC rise significantly in the hot summer months. For the first time all year, the Longhorn Baseball team has what we like to call, a "losing streak". I know this may be a new concept to the younger BON-ers out there, but it is true, and it is staring you back in the face.
So what are you going to do about it?
