A Fireman's Night Before Christmas

I'm at the station tonight, so lets keep it quiet.  Lets wait til Jan 7th to start up a riot.

To the men and women all across Texas and beyond, The boys and I at the station wish you all a very Merry Christmas.  God Bless, be safe, and Hook em!

Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the land,
Not a creature was stirring
Not even Command.

The gear was all hung
In the stations with care
So if help were needed
We'd soon all be there.

The firefighters were nestled
All snug in their beds,
While visions of new trucks
Danced through their heads.

The training was finished
All action was stopped,
In hopes that at Christmas
No calls would be dropped.

When over the pagers
There rose such a clatter
We all sprang to our feet
To see what was the matter.

A fire was burning
No time to be slow
And though it was Christmas
We all had to go

With sirens a'blaring
Our energies high,
We sped in the trucks
Toward the glow in the sky.

On engine, on rescue,
On ladder, on tower,
Now hook to the hydrants
And show it our power

We'll sector the fire
By roof and by wall,
Now dash away, dash
Dash away all.

So up to the top
The roof sector flew,
With axes and pike poles
and smoke blowers, too.

Interior was working
In front and behind,
And all of a sudden
Reported a find.

He was dressed all in red
From his head to his foot
His clothes were all soiled
With ashes and soot.

But his eyes had a twinkle
It wasn't a trick,
Who else could it be?
It must be Saint Nick!

He said thanks for the rescue
For hearing my call,
We were close to not having
A Christmas at all.

I wish I could stay
'Till you end this command,
But I've much work to do
All over the land.

The gifts that I'll leave
For each one of you
Are nothing compared
To the giving you do.

So thanks one last time
For the service you give,
For keeping us safe
Wherever we live.

My Holiday wish
As you keep up the fight,
Merry Christmas to all
And to all a good night!

I wish him the best of luck there, and he's a great pick up for the Aggies.

Bowl Season is Upon us. --Open Thread for New Mexico and St. Petersburg Bowls--

Ah, finally.  Bowl season is upon us fresh after a beautiful win over North Carolina in Arlington on the court.  Two of our past opponents (victims) are playing tonight.  Wyoming will take on Ryan Matthews and Fresno State on ESPN currently in progress, and UCF will take on Rutgers tonight in the St. Petersburg Bowl.  Apparently the winner gets free cover to the various late night "dancing" studios throughout the Tampa Bay Metroplex.  Totally not worth it. Open thread below.

The "other" UT that is. I felt bad for Lane Kiffin for a little bit, but one look at his wife made me change my mind.

Gerry Hamilton--great ESPN article on 2011 targets in Texas.

The main article is based upon Herschel Sims, while not only does he have the best name for a RB ever, but he's having the best production out of any RB in the state right now who is not named Traylon Shead.  Sims is only 102 rushing yards away from having 1000 yards in the playoffs alone on the ground.  He's excelled at kickoff returns as well this postseason and is going to be quite a recruit come next year.

Hamilton also reports on Brandon Williams from Pattison, Texas who is a very talented RB, however from a very small school.  He runs a recorded 10.6 in the 100m and has attended mini camps for Texas this past year.  According to Hamilton, Texas recruiters came by Pattison this week to check him out.

Hamilton then dives into the seemingly large pool of Defensive Backs in the Houston Area for 2011.
The list:

Leroy Scott from South Houston
Sheroid Evans from Sugarland Dulles (very very fast)
Kolby Griffin from St. Pius X
Charles Jackson from Klein Collins

For those who want to read the article, here is the link.

Enjoy and discuss below.

As someone who has always been a Seminole fan, this is something I will not want to watch Tuesday, when he oficially announeces his retirement at a press conference. I do realize, "its about damn time!", but then again...its Bobby Freaking Bowden!

Alot going on in the world of college football coaches today.

Also, the players are having a team meeting to discuss whether they will attend a bowl game this year.

Texas moves up to #2 in the latest coaches poll for College B-Ball

Sparty drops out of the top 5 after losing to unranked Florida.  Kansas received all of the votes save for one, which went to 5th ranked Duke.  Kansas out gained Texas by 44 points (774-730).  This is certainly looking to be one hell of a season for the Big 12 in Basketball as there are about 5 teams who stand a chance to pull an upset and take the throne away from either the Jayhawks or the Longhorns.

I'm watching the Ole Miss and Miss St game on SEC Network (lovely), and Bedlam on FSN (even worse).

Lets hear your predictions and we'll see if Tebow tries to out-do Colt's Heisman bid later on against the Noles.

Also, later on tonight we get to see Baylor play Tech in the stadium that I'll be gracing with my presence next Saturday.

Seems our RB carousel contines. I have to admit, I'm glad to see this. Thoughts?
