SacBee: Sacramento Kings sign new, more lucrative TV deal with Comcast

+

The Sacramento Kings have signed a lucrative deal with Comcast to broadcast games and other programming for the next 20 years. Kings officials would not discuss the financial details of the agreement, but the Sports Business Journal reported the deal was worth between $690 million and $700 million – or an average of $35 million a year. The team’s previous deal with Comcast was pegged at about $11 million a year. Report by Ryan Lillis.

The official 2012 @TailgatingBYU Football/Tailgating season map. This lot is the one on the corner of 2230 N. 150 E. (About 3 blocks north of LES). This will be ground zero for tailgating this football season. Come and enjoy! (CLICK HERE to enlarge) An empty RV stall does not necessarily mean a spot is available -- these are just the spots that we know who has reserved them. If you have any questions, drop them in the comments and we can add answers when they become available. This can be a one-stop info page for emerging questions on how the new tailgate experience will work.

Expand the D-League

I have often thought about the NBA's Development League and how it can best be utilized to allow basketball to progress and to raise the level of play in The Association. Today the new D-League...

They’ve [Houston] been talking to the Kings, as Marc Stein and I reported late Sunday night, for several days about what it would take to get the number five pick. I think that now, that more people are finding out that that’s happening, the fact that the Kings have worked out several prospects that are mid-first rounders, and frankly, virtually every agent in the NBA that has a prospect that’s slotted somewhere in the mid-first round believes that the Kings will be there, not the Rockets. The speculation begins about what it will take. From my understanding, there was never discussion about big-time players with Sacramento. This was not about a Tyreke Evans swap or a Kyle Lowry swap, with Sacramento. This was about picks and perhaps another young player or two from the Rockets roster, like for example Sacramento has some interest in one of the former Rockets first round picks, the draft rights to Donatas Motiejunas the Lithuanian forward, for example.

Chad Ford on The Scott Van Pelt Show via ESPN Radio Ford goes on to say that he is unsure if the Rockets can make this deal happen. He also says Houston really likes Andre Drummond at number five. The clip is just over seven minutes long but starts off with the Kings-Rockets chatter.

Un-Fredette-Able | An honest and fair breakdown of Jimmer's rookie season in the association

+
Take your time machine back to last June and review what was expected. Jump back in, skip forward, and compare that to where he sits now. I believe you’ll find the difference is not as great as swiss-cheese memory makes it appear to be. Fredette is lacking a certain measure of blue-collar tenacity, confidence, and a physicality that will benefit him at both ends of the floor. But watching the development of J.J. Redick should leave you with the thought that his considerable ceiling is still well within reach. -Ian Levy, @hickoryhigh

Nick Martineau Will Not Return Next Season

2

I would like to say, I called this! Right here: [Martineau] won't see any significant time and I wouldn't be surprised if he "graduates early." BYU now loses four players from last year's roster: Noah Hartsock, Charles Abouo, Nick Martineau, & Demarcus Harrison (who will be serving a mission). Two of those scholarships are already spoken for, by Tyler Haws (returning from a mission next week) and Raul Delgado (a JUCO transfer from Western Nebraska CC). It is HIGHLY likely one of the other spots will go to non-scholarship player Craig Cusick (he deserves it). As for the other, your guess is as good as mine. In fact... leave your guess as to what position/player should be considered/targeted in the comments section below. UPDATE: Nick Martineau's response can be found here. His family contacted the Salt Lake Tribune's Jay Drew on twitter. He reached out to Martineau and told him to call if he wanted. Nick obliged.

Is that the new parking garage?

Leading Off: Crystal ball sees new arena

Interesting "look" at October 2015. SacBee Sports Editor Tom Couzens gazes into his crystal ball to see some pretty incredible things in Sacramento's future. None of these will be possible if the votes aren't cast our way on Tuesday. We need to show up en masse. If you live close enough, go. If not, get others you know to be there at City Hall on Tuesday night. #BeHeard P.S. The craziest prediction in here is that in 2015, ESPN 1320 will have a local morning sports show. I wish.

Ailene Voisin: Fredette's education continues as Kings rookie

Brad Rock: Time for BYU to reveal its game plan to fans

1

Agree or disagree? My personal opinion. I trust the powers that be at BYU (Samuelson, Worthen, Holmoe, Mendenhall, etc.) to make a prudent decision for the athletic program. I think peoples obsession to know what the thoughts and feelings of this administration is, stems from the fact that we as a society have moved past a 24 news cycle to something much more insane/fast.
