Bleeding Green Nation My Last Mock Draft

Thursday is the big day. Hopefully this year I get even more right than I did the year prior (two..I called Henery and Watkins). I'm gonna keep the pick that we have (trades are just too hard to predict).

*** With the 15th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, The Philadelphia Eagles select Whitney Mercilus, DE from Illinois. ***

The Eagles don't have many needs and there have been several articles cited on BGN stating the Eagles intentions of taking the best player available. Mercilus is drawing favorable comparisons to Aldon Smith. He led the nation in sacks and forced fumbles last year (16 sacks, 9 forced fumbles). His pass rushing ability seemed to be unparalleled by anyone else last year as he was rated as the top pass rusher based on sacks, hurries, and knockdowns. This guy is an absolute stud. The only reason he isn't going in the top ten is because he was much less productive in his first two years at Illinois. I think the Eagles take the risk and reap the rewards like the Giants did with Jason Pierre-Paul a few short years ago. Mercilus will join the rotation early with the Birds and help them continue to bring pressure to every quarterback they face.

According to NFL.com Mercilus' strengths and weaknesses are:

"STRENGTHS Mercilus is a fast, athletic defensive end who is quick off the snap and has a good burst to close on the quarterback. He is a situational rusher who excels against the run and brings the versatility to run to the flats at his size. Whitney is able to quickly get off the snap and engage into his man's frame. He excels in pursuit down the line of scrimmage and is a high motor player. He can win at the next level with his speed rush."

"WEAKNESSES His feet are slowed by his instincts as he oftentimes gets caught looking into the backfield and hesitates when diagnosing the run. He can get occupied by bigger, stronger blockers and tends to shut it down completely in these looks. He is more quick than explosive. He is a drag-down tackler who relies on his weight and is inconsistent in his wrap-up form."

Whitney Mercilus highlights

*** With the 46th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Bobby Wagner, LB from Utah State. ***

The Eagles certainly have a need for an outside linebacker after the Eagles received poor performance after poor performance from their linebackers in 2011. Demeco Ryans should and will shore up the middle of the field. Bobby Wagner will help the linebacking crew become a reliable and strong unit. Wagner has no problem laying the lumber and was named MVP of the Senior Bowl this year. HIs tackling has steadily improved every year and will be ready to start in year one in the NFL. If this pick happens you can expect Wagner to take over the SAM responsiblities, Ryans to be the MLB, and Rolle to more than likely will the position battle at WILL against Casey Matthews. Wagner is also a high character guy as he was a two year captain in college.

According to KFFL, Wagner's strengths and weaknesses are:

"Strengths

  • Very athletic

  • Versatile - can play inside and out

  • Consistent performer - great production (nine of 13 games with at least 10 tackles, including 18 against Colorado State and 20 versus Louisiana Tech in 2011)

  • Two-year team captain

  • Instinctual in pass coverage and an excellent run defender

  • Intelligent and hard worker

  • Lateral agility

  • Wrap-up tackler with immediate stopping power

  • Patient, read-and-react defender

Weaknesses

  • Lacks ideal size (6-foot 1/4, 241 pounds)

  • Quicker rather than being fast

  • Limited experience as a blitzer

  • Teams didn't get to see him work out at the Scouting Combine, as he was hospitalized with pneumonia at the time

  • Struggles shedding blocks from larger blockers"

Bobby Wagner Highlights

__________________________________________________________________________________________

*** With the 51st pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Alshon Jeffery, WR from South Carolina. ***

Jeffery is a tall receiver who's strength is going up and grabbing jump balls. He uses his body well but lacks the burst to run the greatest of routes. However, Jeffery stands at 6'3 and runs a 4.47 forty yard dash. Instead of focusing on what he lacks, the Eagles are going to focus on what he brings to the table. Jeffery is a legitimate deep threat and a force to be reckoned with in the red zone. While he doesn't get consistent separation, he relies well on his elite strength and body control. His weight seemed to be a problem earlier in the year but he showed up to the combine in phenomenal shape and looked like an "NFL receiver". Jeffery comes in and starts as the Eagles number four wide receiver but makes a significant impact in the red zone and other packages.

According to nepatriotsdraft.com Jeffery's strengths and weaknesses are:

"Strengths: Phenomenal size and length – Accelerates to top-speed quickly, but will be hard pressed to run under a 4.5 – Makes some incredible catches, unreal hands – Adept at bringing hands up late and making the catch – Uses his body very well to box out defenders – Very tough to bring down after the catch – Very productive in 2010 – Incredibly high ceiling.

Weaknesses: Lacks a 2nd gear – Loses speed out of his breaks, doesn’t always gain true separation from college corners – Could sharpen up his routes – Makes some drops when fighting for extra yards before making the catch – Legitimate effort concerns arose after horrendous QB situation junior year – Should block much better with his size, inconsistent with his effort – Some off-season conditioning commitment concerns – Can have trouble going up and fighting for the ball over defenders – Doesn’t explode off the line of scrimmage to get separation."

Alshon Jeffery Highlights

__________________________________________________________________________________________

*** With the 88th pick in the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Ladarius Green, TE from Louisiana-Lafayette ***

While many will argue that the Eagles don't have an immediate need for a TE whatsoever, Ladarius Green is such an immense talent that the Birds just can't pass up. The Patriots were able to bully people in the red zone with their multiple tight end sets. Green has such impressive and unmatched athletic ability that he could easily split out wide throughout the game and especially in the red zone. His ball skills are that of a wide receiver and Green can certainly be a difference maker for this team. He is very similar to Jermichael Finley (except less injury prone..yay). This pick will help the Eagles out tremendously.

Green's strengths according to NFL.com are:

"Green is a big tight end who understands how to get open and use his frame to be a good option for the quarterback in the short passing game. He has good foot quickness and uses this and his frame to work against zone and box out against smaller defenders to secure the easy first-down catch. Green has body control that allows him to leap, torque, and reach both high and low for poorly thrown balls, making him the type of red zone option, at his height, where an NFL QB can just throw it up to him."

His weaknesses are:

"Green is a raw player and would likely be a project at the position. He can struggle getting off the line of scrimmage and can give away his routes quickly when running them. He has a lot of negative aspects to his game currently but they are all skills that could be developed through time and coaching."

Ladarius Green Highlights

________________________________________________________________________________________

*** With the 114th pick in the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select David Molk, C from Michigan. ***

You all may have heard of him because of his arrogant comments at the combine. Molk is a very confident guy and claims to be the best center in the draft this year. The coaches in the NCAA didn't agree as he was edged out as an All-American by Peter Konz. Molk is a very good center and is only falling this far because of his size. He stands at 6'1 and barely eclipses 300 pounds. He makes up for his size with impressive technique, strength, and passion. In fact, Molk put up 41 reps in the bench press this year (good for second in the Combine in 2011).Expect Molk to at the very least compete for the starting Center spot in his first year in green.

David Molk Video

_________________________________________________________________________________________

*** With the 153rd pick in the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Akiem Nicks, DT from Canada ***

Nicks was a top recruit for LSU but lost his eligibility there because of a scandal which involved him getting illegal benefits from the college. They weren't ludicrous things, mainly transportation so Nicks is still a relatively good guy in my books. No more illegal benefits once he is in the league. After losing NCAA eligibility, Nicks travelled to Canada to play in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport where he was a candidate for the JP Metras Trophy which is awarded to the best down lineman in the league. Nicks was very productive as he had 6.5 sacks and was respected by his teammates for his rabid play. His performance has been very impressive over the years and I think he enters into the Eagles rotation at DT right away and the Birds add quality depth to the position.

Akiem Nicks Highlights

_______________________________________________________________________________________

*** With the 172nd pick in the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Andrew Datko, OT from Florida State ***

If not for injuries, Datko would probably be picked in the first three rounds. He missed much of 2011 with a torn labia labrum. He got surgery on it and should be okay now. Once again, the Eagles swoop in and take a potential steal. The Eagles starters are set right now. Datko should provide great depth this year and provide them with a quality option to start and/or provide great depth at the RT position two years from now when the Birds more than likely drop or trade Bell and go back to Peters at LT.

Andrew Datko Highlights

__________________________________________________________________________________________

*** With the 194th pick in the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select TJ Graham, WR from NC State. ***

TJ Graham is a speed demon.

He will return punts and kicks for whatever team drafts him. Son of famous track coach, Trevor Graham. This guy can just flat out fly. Maybe he can help us out and take one or two to the house this year.

TJ Graham Punt Return for TD

_________________________________________________________________________________________

*** With the 200th pick in the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Dan Herron, RB from Ohio State. ***

Dan Herron will be a great fit for the birds. He is a between the tackle runner who has soft hands. He is more quick than fast and I really think he would be a nice complement and compete with Dion Lewis for the 2RB duties. I do however think that Lewis would get much more carries but with Herron getting a few goal line opportunities when McCoy needs a spell. (Note: I think McCoy continues to get nearly all the carries in the Red Zone as he shows us time and time again that he can find the painted grass).

Just wanted to mention that Herron was the team captain this year and is constantly acknowledged for his great character.

Jim Leavitt for D-Coordinator?

Please Please Please

Jim Leavitt, currently the LB coach at San Francisco. After spending 1990-1995 under Bill Snyder at KSU, Leavitt spent 1995-2010 as the Head Coach for USF, leading them since their inception. I'll actually paste the exact wording from his Bio here, it sounds better than I could make it sound.

"The program began play in 1997 at the division I-AA level and immediate success propelled the Bulls to a national ranking for 24 consecutive weeks. South Florida’s ascension into the top 25 from entry into I-A/FCS was the fastest in NCAA history, surpassing Boise State’s rise by a mere seven weeks. The Bulls achieved another record on September 30, 2007, when they became the fastest program of the modern era to reach the top 10, landing at No. 6 in the AP Poll and No. 9 in the Coaches’ Poll. On October 14, 2007, South Florida received its first ever BCS ranking as the No. 2 team in the nation behind only the Ohio State Buckeyes."

What do you guys think? This guy would be a monster for our team.

Bleeding Green Nation Eagles Mock by Labe35

23. The Eagles select Jimmy Smith.

This guy is too good to pass up. He has that elite skill set that we have been needing for years opposite Asante. He has the height that would really make a difference against the big wide outs of the NFC East and the press and cover skills to make Nate Allen more effective as our ball hawking free safety. I understand he has character issues but I actually like his cockiness. A lot of people didn't like when he said he had better ball skills than Nmandi but Ioved it. His confidence reminded me of Desean. Corners need swagger and this guy has it.

54. The Eagles select Mason Foster.

For those that don't know Foster, he is an OLB from the University of Washington. He stands at 6'1 and 245 lbs. Foster really wasn't on the radar of many scouts before the 2010 season but he had a monster senior year and capped it off with an impressive Senior Bowl. I like this guy because he seems to be the opposite of Ernie Sims. This guy makes his money off of his natural instincts and tackling abilities which cover up for his mediocre physical attributes. He was a team captain his senior year because his team loved the way he played with a chip on his shoulder day in and day out. Foster was only a 2 star prospect coming out of high school and he will never let that rating pass by. This man is perfect for our Eagles.

85. The Eagles select Danny Watkins.

I know a lot of people know about Watkins already on this site so I'll try to lay off a little bit with the analysis. A lot of people think Watkins will go earlier than this but I don't see it. Watkins is a great guard but he is 27 years old. His age is the only reason that he lasts till the 3rd round.

104. The Eagles select Kendall Hunter.

Kendall Hunter is another good fit for the Eagles. He stands at only 5'7 and 199 lbs but his skills certainly make up for it. He has short but compact with good bulk and a sturdy build. He has great balance and a low center of gravity. He has a exceptional burst and runs with a purpose. He is an Eagles type of player. He excelled academically, earning numerous distinctions for work in the classroom, and was active in the community as well.

120. The Eagles select Dejon Gomes.

Gomes is a strong safety out of Nebraska. He stands at 6' and weighs 200 lbs. He has solid athleticism as he ran a 4.53 forty time and had a 31 inch vertical. Gomes only played two years at Nebraska as he attended City College of San Francisco first. Gomes worked his way into the lineup his first year at Nebraska. This guy is a true football player. He played strong safety, linebacker, and corner. I think that says a lot about his ability. Some teams will find this versatility as a negative as Gomes is not a perfect fit as a strong safety in many systems. With that said I think the Eagles will find this versatility as a major positive and jump on him in the 4th round. The Eagles like to bring their SS into the box so that LB experience will definitely be helpful. His corner experience is another positive for the Birds as he will probably be responsible for covering tight ends in certain situations. With all this said, I think Coleman gets the job until he loses it (Mikell is gone).

153. The Eagles select Kevin Kowalski.

This guy should be a good project for the Eagles. Kowalski is a center coming out of Toledo. He has a great football IQ and plays with a mean streak. I think once Howard Mudd starts practicing with this guy he can do wonders for us in a year or two. This guy just needs better technique as he plays too high standing too upright in pass protection. With a year or two of Howard Mudd lessons I think this guy will be contending for the starting Center spot.

227. The Eagles select Derrick Locke.

Locke is one of the fastest running backs in the country. He is small at 5'8 and 188 lbs but the Eagles are really just looking for him to relieve Desean on punt returns as well as take over the kick return duties. If Locke can become a situational back in his career that would be great too. I really like this pick for the Birds.

237. The Eagles select Alex Henery.

Henery is a kicker from Nebraska. His kicking game reminds of Rob Bironas. Henery is so talented I honestly think that if the Eagles picked him here he would've fallen to them (big time). Henery's only issue is that he can't kick the ball deep on kickoffs. The new rule moving the ball up may actually become a positive as he will probably get the ball in the end zone or near the end zone (opposed to always getting a touchback) resulting in some field position opportunites for our defense.

"Per @LesBowen the Saints believe that Dennis Allen is on the verge of leaving for either the Broncos or the Eagles defensive coordinator job"-Eagles Insider

I may be getting greedy but I would like to see the Eagles at least interview some more candidates. More specifically the Jets D-Backs Coach, Winston Moss, and Trogvac

Washburn, Castillo

With the rumors of Juan Castillo possibly going to Cleveland to be the offensive coordinator I decided to brainstorm a little. This may seem very unlikely but I was watching the "Softer Side of Washburn" video on philadelphiaeagles.com which showed a lot of his friendship with former Colts offensive line coach, Howard Mudd. If Castillo does indeed go to the Browns, how amazing would it be if Howard Mudd and Washburn coached on the same staff. These guys are both incredible coaches and personalities and I think their friendship is strong enough for this to be a valid thought. What do you guys think? *I made this a fanshot because I didn't want to waste room on the fanpost list

A Packers fan's Toyota Camry was "stomped on, kicked and beaten." Mirrors were broken, wipers torn out, and dents made on the hood, trunk, and roof by Eagles fans. Possibly the same ones that gave this man and his son the finger. Read the article if you want. Once again we all look like @$$holes because of a few dumb drunks. Please Eagles fanbase, lets turn the negative external outlook from other teams around. We are better than this.

Bleeding Green Nation Very Early Draft Prediction

First off, Kevin Kolb is going to be traded. And we are going to get some picks. I'm going to pretend that we get a second and third rounder from the Titans and a talented veteran (or Vince Young).

This would leave us with the 23, 39, 56, 77, 88, 103, 120, around 130 (McNabb compensation), 146, 152, and 212 pick. I'm sure we will get more picks before the draft but thats' what I'm going with for now.

So here are the picks.

23. Gabe Carimi OT Wisconsin   This guy is an absolute monster and would make our line closer to respectable from the get go.

39. Jimmy Smith CB Colorado     I love this guy. He is a big corner at 6'2 210 lbs. His size and coverage skills will come in handy against the larger receivers in Dez Bryant and Hakeem Nicks.

56. Mike Pouncey C/OG Florida     Not quite as talented as his Steeler brother. But he is talented and will start at either RG or C right away.

77. Colin Kaepernick QB Nevada    Extremely mobile quarterback to mold under Vick. I like this guy.

88. Luke Stocker TE Tennessee   Celek def didn't have the year we expected. This guy reminds me of Heap.

103. Jeff Demps RB/KR Florida     And we thought this team couldn't get any faster. We have a KR now!

120. Danny Watkins OG Baylor     Talented guy. Will compete for RG spot.

130. Curtis Brown CB Texas  Played for an elite program and had a good career. Depth depth depth

146. Josh Bynes OLB Auburn  very talented player who really has been the heart of Auburn's defense this year.

152. Chimidi Chekwa CB Ohio State   Kurt Coleman has been impressive. Let's see what this guys got.

212. Chris Colasanti LB Penn State   Lee has impressed in Dallas. Eagles take a shot on Colasanti in the last round.

There you go that's all I got. I didn't have the Eagles picking an LB early. I am very aware of that. I think Chaney Fokou and Bradley are awesome and am absolutely in love with Keenan Clayton. He may be my favorite of the four. I think the Eagles stick it out with them and bring in Josh Bynes to fill the shoes of Akeem Jordan whom they let walk.

Bleeding Green Nation Dislocated Elbow Info

As we all know MLB Stewart Bradley is hurt once again. He dislocated his elbow against the Cowboys on Sunday night.

He more than likely suffered a posterior dislocation which is when your forearm bones go behind your arm bone. I say that because that is the most common type not because I am some sort of medical genius. This type of fracture does not require surgery it is simply put back into place. A NORMAL person would have to wear a sling to keep his elbow at a ninety degree angle for about a week and a half. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bradley without one in as short as a day or two just because his muscles are much larger than the norm. A NORMAL person would be out of sports for approximately six weeks. Once again, Stewart Bradley is not normal. He is a monster. It should be really interesting to hear how fast this guy can get on the field. We are going to need him against the new and improved Brandon Jacobs. My brain starts to hurt when I think of Chaney having to bring down Jacobs. Get healthy soon...PLEASE

Bleeding Green Nation Ellis Hobbs Hip Flexor Injury

Today Ellis Hobbs admitted that he was suffering from a hip flexor injury. He was quoted by the Press of Atlantic City saying "it's been bothering me for a while, but it was one of those things where I thought I could play through it."

That quote just pisses me off. The fact that he finished the game makes me think this: he either truly believed he could play through it the entire game OR he really believed he was bad enough to allow an up and coming (but not yet there) superstar to receive 7 balls and 225 yards and 3 tds in less than 3 quarters of football. Either way this man is an absolute moron. Someone people will commend him for playing through his injury. The intelligent people will say, "what the hell man? Lindley and Patterson can play better than you with a bum hip flexor. Get off the field".

Good old Andy doesn't think that way. He said that he has tremendous respect for him, and the team does too. I think that's horsepoop. It would be awesome if he played well with it and he helped contribute to a "w". But all he did was absolutely positively contribute to us losing the game.

With all this said. I only place 50% of the blame on Hobbs. The other half I blame on Coach McDermott for being an idiot and keeping Hobbs the smaller and slower (for that game) corner on the overpowering and fast Kenny Britt. Good thinking moron. McDermott better step up his game versus the Colts, or I'm gonna lose it.

Bleeding Green Nation Why Mike Bell got traded

JasonB just posted a link to an article on csnphilly.com by Ray Didinger. I read it going in disappointed with our special teams and after finishing I am ecstatic that the Eagles got rid of Mike Bell. He is a loser and I will tell you why.

Ted Ginn is a very good returner and really took advantage of our bad coverage all night. I however felt there was a severe lack of effort, not a lack of talent or coaching. One that stuck out to me was the opening kickoff I believe when Lindley "chased down" Ginn. He jogged for about 40 yards on a ginormous angle. The lack of effort was obvious. And this is from  a rookie...he should be pumped!

The one kickoff that the article really stressed was the last kickoff by the Birds.

Akers gave it a nice boot and well this is how it unfolded:

Gaither had a shot at Ginn but missed. Coleman was pancaked. Jordan slipped and fell like a klutz.

Ginn then reversed field coming back to the side where Bell had responsibility. But him being the chicken shit that

he is decided to stay blocked by a rookie for 5.9 seconds. Yes 5.9 seconds. That is a great block in pass coverage

for an interior lineman. Bell stayed blocked on the opposite side of the field on a kickoff return for 5.9 seconds. I just

can't get over that. And well, the Eagles obviously couldn't either when they traded him yesterday for Jerome

Harrison. Great job Roseman!

Also, Gaither sucks. Cut him now. He isn't even good on specials anymore.

Oh and here's the whole article if you want it

Bleeding Green Nation Fantasy "Experts" Plz Click

Whatsup I just drafted my team for this year. I'm looking for some opinions/tips.

It's a ten team league. Non keeper. Non-ppr. Standard ESPN Scoring.

We went for a deep draft this year and it should definitely be interesting....

QB Eli Manning

QB (I'm putting Kyle Orton and Jason Campbell in a committee)

RB Ryan Mathews

RB Beanie Wells

RB Ahmad Bradshaw

RB/WR Dwayne Bowe

RB/WR (I'm putting Clinton Portis and Malcom Floyd in a committee)

WR Randy Moss

WR Greg Jennings

TE Jermichael Finley (I have Daniels as well for tough weeks and trade bait)

D/ST I like to add and drop D/ST every week searching for good matchups. Opening weeks I have Browns vs. TB

K Neil Rackers (I liked his upside so I took him. Options in FA are Carpenter, Janikowski, Mare)

Bench:

WR Malcom Floyd

QB Campbell/Orton

TE Owen Daniels

RB Fred Jackson (should get good carries with Spiller...how about without..?)

RB Larry Johnson (when Portis gets hurt)

WR Laurent Robinson (possible sleeper?)

RB Javon Ringer (if CJ gets hurt...nice trade bait)

RB Keiland Williams (when Portis and LJ get hurt ahha)

Bleeding Green Nation My Practice Squad

Alright I'm not going to bore you by going on and on and on. So here are my six guys:

1. Jorrick Calvin CB

He had a solid showing against the Jets last night earning him a spot on the practice squad. Could be picked

up by another team.

2. Chad Hall WR

Was one of a few fan favorites here in Philly. Sadly he just didn't have the talent to make this team, he certainly

had the heart. The Eagles give him another try next year. No one picks him up.

3. Jeff Owens DT

He had a very good offseason and preseason in my opinion. I think there is a good chance someone picks

him up.

4. Jamar Chaney LB

Has some jets. I mean this man can fly and that alone makes him a candidate to be picked up by another

team. I think Chaney stays on the practice squad and outdoes Gaither next year and earns a spot.

5. Martell Mallett RB

This guy had a great preseason he just couldn't help us out on special teams which ultimately gave Buckley

the spot on the team once again. Mallett was definitely the better runner.

6. Jeraill McCuller OT

He has upside and size. Could make the team next year with some hard work these next months.

Well those are my sixth. How many did I get right?d

Bleeding Green Nation My Fantasy Rankings

These are my rankings for a standard non ppr league. Tell me what you think.

QB

1. Aaron Rodgers- tops the charts for the second year in a row. Imagine what he can do with some blocking...

2. Drew Brees- Another Year Near The Top

3. Tom Brady- Randy Moss is looking great. Edelman and Welker are healthy. Nice passing attack in NE in '10.

4. Peyton Manning-Mr. Consistency

5. Matt Schaub- leads a solid offense down in Texas. Foster will step up in the backfield and Schaub has weapons.

6. Philip Rivers- had a great year last year. Don't expect those same numbers (less in '10 w/o VJax)

7. Tony Romo- had a very good fantasy year. Will have another good fantasy year (but he still sucks and is a homo)

8. Kevin Kolb- our boy. He is ready to play. Hopefully the o-line will decide to block in the reg season.

9. Brett Favre- Grandpa Favre is back for another year. Expect his #'s to drop but still be starter quality.

10. Eli Manning- a good fantasy options with his young and sure handed wideouts.

11. Joe Flacco- has the weapons to be a fantasy star. Too bad the Ravens are in love with the run.

12. Jay Cutler- accuracy concerns are worrisome. If Forte comes back to form Cutler could have a solid year.

13. Matt Ryan- Has the weapons just needs to connect the pieces to the puzzle.

14. Donovan McNabb- Can't stand him but he has talent and if Campbell can have a good year there, so can D-Mac

15. Kyle Orton- is having himself a great offseason and is poised to have a surprise year.

RB

1. Adrian Peterson- All Day. That is all.

2. Chris Johnson- was too active last year as a workhorse to have a repeat year. Still a monster.

3. Ray Rice- he can run and catch with ease. He beats MJD in my rankings by a hair.

4. Maurice Jones-Drew- a back you just love to have on your team. Offense is a little too iffy for me to rank him @ 3.

5. Frank Gore- if he stays healthy he could be a top 3 back. He just needs to stay on the field to be successful.

6. Michael Turner- Will do somewhere between what he did last year and what he did 2 years ago.

7. Ryan Mathews- Is going to step up big and have a great year for the Chargers.

8. Beanie Wells- I'm expecting a breakout year from the Buckeye Bruiser.

9. Shonne Greene- The Jets like to run. And Greene runs well and is a horse. Simple as that.

10. Steven Jackson- Most talented back in the NFL. Needs a passing game in STL to put up the #'s he deserves.

11. Deangelo Williams-In a committee so what? He gets the ball and does great things with it.

12. Ryan Grant- Mr. Consistency. Never a bad choice to draft Grant in the 2nd Round.

13. Jamaal Charles- If he can ward off Thomas Jones he can have a great year.

14. Jonathan Stewart- 2 backs on the same team in the top 14. Yes, they are that good.

15. Pierre Thomas- explosive offense + explosive players = explosive numbers

WR

1. Randy Moss- is in the shape of his life and ready to have an outstanding year.

2. Andre Johnson- is set for another great year.

3. Calvin Johnson- Megatron will finally break out this year.

4. Reggie Wayne- Mr. Consistency

5. Larry Fitzgerald- he is not nearly as good with Leinart under center. Check the stats...

6. Roddy White- could have a better year than Fitz....

7. Greg Jennings- another guy that could break the top 5. Jennings' getting the ball, just he needs it in the endzone.

8. Miles Austin- I don't like him so I'm not saying anything.

9. Brandon Marshall- possession guy. as long as he possesses the ball in the endzone it's all good.

10. Steve Smith (Panthers)- should have a good year with Moore at QB. No more Delhomme!

11. Desean Jackson- I'm expecting a drop in numbers (this is a good thing, other weapons have arrived)

12. Dwayne Bowe- I'm expecting a great year with a lot of touchdowns.

13. Hakeem Nicks-he's a Giant, but I love this kid.He is tough as nails and his hands are as soft as something soft.

14. Marques Colston- The last talented Hofstra product possibly ever. The man catches balls in the EZ.

15. Michael Crabtree- takes another step towards stardom (doesn't make it all the way up the stairs just yet)

TE

1. Dallas Clark- consistency every year.

2. Antonio Gates- talented man. Should put up amazing numbers.

3. Vernon Davis- won't put up numbers like last years but he isn't going to bore you.

4. Jermichael Finley- big year from this guy.

5. Chris Cooley- Shanahan could really turn Cooley back into gold in the fantasy world.

6. Brent Celek- drops in my rankings because of the o-lines struggles forcing him to stay in.

7. Jason Witten- talented guy

8. Tony Gonzalez- Old Man has the skills to pay the bills.

9. Owen Daniels- Expect a great year. Could end up as the top TE this year.

10. Kellen Winslow- Receiving TE. Who's throwing it???

11. Visanthe Shiancoe-Quality backup. Average starter.

12. John Carlson-another good backup who should have numbers consistent with last years.

13. Dustin Keller-Good pass catcher...too bad Sanchez is awful.

14. Zach Miller- Jason Campbell could fall in love with this guy.

15. Fred Davis- The second Skin TE on this list. I like this former Trojan as a sleeper.

D/ST

1. Philadelphia Eagles- we have a new ball-hawking safety!

2. Green Bay Packers- undervalued defense. lots and lots of veteran talent.

3. Dallas Cowboys- Jerry Jones has a good defense.

4. Cincinnati Bengals- Bengals D is set for another great year.

5. New York Jets- No Revis, not too big of a deal in the fantasy world. Jets still make the top 5.

6. Baltimore Ravens- Injuries could ruin there season.

7. Minnesota Vikings- Hard to do anything against a great defensive line like that of the Vikings.

8. San Francisco 49ers- Patrick Willis will take you there.

9. Denver Broncos- Dawkins and Champ Bailey are set this defense again for another solid year.

10. New Orleans Saints- They have a bullseye on their back. So what, just tackle the guy in front of you.

11. Cleveland Browns-Eric Wright is a monster. I'm looking for this defense to improve.

12. New England Patriots- Eh, good backup defense.

13. San Diego Chargers- Could have a great year, could have a terrible year. Feeling lucky?

14. Houston Texans- Consistent defense. Good for spot starts when playing mediocre or worse offenses.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers- Could return to top 10 rankings this year. COULD

Bleeding Green Nation My Thoughts

After watching both preseason games and hours of training camp I have accumulated a bunch of thought and opinions about our 2010-2011 Philadelphia Eagles.

I'll start with my positive thoughts:

  • Sims and Bradley look great and ready to dominate this upcoming year.
  • Lindley and Cooper look like the mid round steals of this draft class. (Maybe even Keenan Clayton)
  • Mallett has been surprising people in these two games so far..lets see if he keeps it up.
  • Dmitri Patterson looks very good this year (much better than some others...see below)
  • Brandon Graham looks like the man we were all hoping for. He has a tremendous motor and the hand speed of a magician.
  • Nate Allen has put his talent and maturity on full display and the bleeding green nation is loving it (except for that one failed tackle attempt this evening)
  • I am very pleased with Rocca and Akers' performances these past two games.
Now, my negative thoughts:
  • Juqua Parker looks awful against the run and at best mediocre versus the pass.
  • Joselio Hanson looks even worse.
  • The offensive line has taken terrible to a whole 'nother level, failing to line up not in the backfield.
  • The red zone offense has to get better. But, as an optimistic thinker, I have to blame it on the vanilla plays and stupid penalties.
  • McCoy is dancing too much. It looked like he was running more downfield in training camp but in the games he is still dancing like a little fairy.
  • Vick has really been killing us in these two games. Turnover after turnover he just looks worse and worse.
  • The special teams units have got to be kidding me (minus Akers and Rocca). The kickoff coverage team blows contain nearly every time and the punt and kickoff returns are failing to gain even mediocre-like yards.
  • Kafka can't throw the long ball.
  • I apologize to all you Chad Hall lovers out there, but he isn't good enough for this team. He isn't the Danny Amendola of last year. Amendola was better. I like Hall as a person but he just isn't talented enough. His punt and kick returns are average at best and his plays that people rant and rave about have all come against broken coverages by the fourth stringers.
  • Jordan has been looking good but tonight he looked awful.
In Conclusion Here are My Thoughts:
  1. Brandon Graham should be starting over Juqua Parker right now.
  2. Parker should be cut....yes...cut
  3. Patterson should be the nickel corner and Lindley should be the dime corner. Joselio should be in a battle with Macho for the fifth spot.
  4. Jordan and Clayton should be in a battle for the SAM LB spot (50/50)
  5. Laws should have the third DT spot on lockdown by now.
  6. Cole and Graham should be the starters. With Fokou, Tapp, DTO, and Sapp...yes. Sapp making the team.
  7. Austin Howard is making this team no matter what happens. Dunlap and McCuller should be battling 50/50 for the other spot.
  8. McGlynn is better than Cole at center plain and simple. He starts until Jackson is back.
  9. We NEED Herremans back in game form.
  10. Andrews needs to pick up his game or a trade needs to be made. The o-line looks horrendous.
  11. Wide Receiver Depth Chart: Jackson, Maclin, Avant, Cooper, Washington...thats it only five
  12. Buckley makes the team over Scott and Mallett because of special teams prominence.
  13. Ernie Sims is making the pro bowl this year.

Bleeding Green Nation 53 Man Roster Prediction

*I MADE MY CORRECTIONS...THIS IS MY CORRECTED ROSTER. STILL NO PARKER OR GAITHER. WHAT DO YOU THINK NOW?

1 FB- Leonard Weaver

3 TE- Brent Celek, Cornelius Ingram, Clay Harbor

5 WR- Desean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper, Kelley Washington

2 FS- Nate Allen, Quintin Demps

2 SS- Quintin Mikell, Kurt Coleman

1 K- David Akers

1 P- Sav Rocca

1 LS- Jon Dorenbos

That makes 53 guys. Tell me what you think and make your own roster prediction. I don't think I left anyone out but let me know. I don't think Juqua Parker will make the team if Brandon Graham has a good camp which i am highly anticipating. I have Kelley Washington making the team instead of Chad Hall or Hank Baskett because he seems to be a better special teams player than both of them. I just heard Bobby April saying that's why they brought Washington in to camp. I also have Chaney making the team over Omar Gaither because he is the fastest linebacker on the team and I think April may put him as a gunner on special teams. Clayton makes the team for his great camp so far and his great motor. And Tracy White is known league-wide for his great special teams play so he makes the team as well.

Bleeding Green Nation Jackson-ruptured achilles

I got my information straight from philadelpiaeagles.com

Also...the injury is to MARLIN Jackson, not Desean.

Since, it seems like Macho is out of the race, the job looks like Nate Allen's at the moment.

Bleeding Green Nation MY FINAL MOCK OF EAGLES PICKS

As we all know the Eagles have a plethora of picks for this week's draft.

Round Note
1 (24) Own Pick
2 (37) Acquired from Washington for QB Donovan McNabb
2 (55) Own Pick
3 (70) Acquired from Seattle in 2009 draft day trade
3 (87) Own Pick
4 (105) Acquired from Cleveland along with LB Alex Hall for CB Sheldon Brown and LB Chris Gocong
4 (121) Own Pick
6 (200) Acquired from Indianapolis in 2009 draft day trade
7 (243) Compensatory Pick
7 (244) Compensatory Pick

The Eagles recently traded their one and only fifth round draft pick for WILL Linebacker Ernie Sims. He will step in and start immediately and be a consistent tackler for the  defense for years to come.

On the the mock....

At 24 I'd like to see the Eagles take a shot at trading up and getting Sean Weatherspoon, OLB Missouri OR Earl Thomas, FS Texas. With that said, I don't think they do it. This draft is very deep so I think they will stay put and take advantage of the immense talent still available at 24. With this pick I think the Eagles will select Devin McCourty, CB Rutgers. His stock is currently on the rise after a fantastic showing in this year's combine and his impressive film. he stands at 5'11" 195 lbs. He ran a swift 4.38 40 and had a solid 36 inch vertical. This guy doesn't mind hitting and definitely looks like an "Eagles" type of corner.

Next, at 37. I can see the Eagles trading the pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for their next year's first. With that said, I can think there is a better chance that the Eagles keep the pick and reap the benefits of this years deep deep deep draft. Right here, the Eagles can draft another great corner...yes two corners in a row...sound familiar? Kareem Jackson from Alabama is another corner that looks like an "Eagles" corner. He loves to hit and flourishes in man coverage. This guy will be a beast. He also stands around 5'11" 195 lbs. He ran a 4.40 40 and had a 37.5 inch vertical.

Still in the second round....the Eagles have the 55th pick. Right here the Eagles will pick another player for their secondary under the great Dick Jauron. There is a chance that Nate Allen is available. If he is there the Eagles will most likely pull the trigger on him. I personally think he will be gone so I predict that the Eagles select Morgan Burnett the Safety from Georgia Tech. Burnett stands at 6'2" 210 lbs and ran a 4.51 40. He also did 16 reps on the bench press. he does just about everythng well, with excellent awareness and reaction in man and zone coverage, and he can be intimidating as a hitter. I really like this guy.

Now for the third round. Our beloved Eagles have the 70th pick. This pick will be used to fill our small hole at SAM. I like Fokou but I like this next guy much much more. His name is AJ Edds. I'm sure most of us have heard of him as he was a stud at the University of Iowa. He is a great cover linebacker and is a good tackler as well. Just what the Eagles need.

Still in the third. With the 87th pick the Eagles will select JD Walton. The Center from Baylor. He stands at 6'3" 300 lbs. He is a monster who will start for the Eagles right away.

With the 105th pick, the Eagles will look for a backup quarterback. There are three quarterbacks the Eagles will consider taking here....Jarrett Brown (if we trade Vick), John Skelton, Tony Pike. Assuming Vick stays I think the Eagles will take Pike from Cincinnati. If they do trade Vick Brown will be the pick. Brown could take over the wildcat duties and could also develop into a great quarterback for trade bait (groom him then trade him).

The Birds also have the 121st pick. They will take Greg Hardy, the defensive end from Ole Miss. He has some motor issues but if the Eagles can wake him up, he will provide first round talent in the fourth round. It is definitely worth the risk.

We are now in the sixth round, 200. With this pick they will take Kevin Haslem. He is an offensive guard and another Rutgers boy. He is pretty slow but Castillo can help him out. At worst, he will provide nice depth.

The last two picks, the Eagles have picks 243 and 244. With these two picks the Eagles will pick, Adrian Tracy the OLB from William & Mary, and Thomas Welch OT from Vandy.

That concludes my mock for the Eagles picks. I hope you liked it. Express your thoughts below. I would love for this to happen personally.
