Captaincy (Poll)
With the roster now more-or-less complete for the season, the Sabres remain without a captain. Who should become the Sabres next captain, and why? How should the Sabres decide: By write-in vote? By self-nominations followed by a vote? By Lindy himself? Should the Sabres wait a few weeks to see how Regehr fits in with the team before pegging him as a captain, given their previous situation with Rivet? Has Atlas earned the crown? Give your thoughts below.

Langenbrunner to be traded from Devils
I know this is old-ish news, but would anyone be interested if the Sabres went after this guy? I'd imagine losing Roy cleared some cap space for the rest of the season, and this guy would definitely help to fill the void left by Roy, as well as add some (hopefully more effective) veteran leadership. Thoughts?
Did you know? "The Sabres are 10-3-2 against backup goalies and 3-11-2 in games in which they faced the starter. Two of those wins came in shootouts."

Niedermayer and Connolly out
Nieds had knee surgery, out 2 weeks.
Connolly injured groin in practice, may miss time.
Random Sabres Statistics
So I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where we can all post random and interesting statistics about the Sabres. I'll start us off:
-Tim Connolly has had 10 career 2-goal games, but never a hat trick.
-The Sabres and Amerks hold the record for the longest NHL-AHL affiliation (29 years).
-The Sabres all-time win-percentage is 0.553, which is third overall behind Montreal and Philidelphia.
-The Sabres have made the playoffs in 28 of their 39 seasons (71.79%), ranking 6th in the league. Surprisingly, there are two teams with even better percentages that also have not won a Stanley Cup - St. Louis (2nd, 83.33%) and San Jose (5th, 72.22%).
-Craig Rivet led the team in PIMs last year.
-Derek Roy ranks 15th on the Sabres all-time career points list with 357.
-The 2009-2010 Sabres allowed the fewest total 2nd-period goals-against in the league with 65. They also allowed the fewest power-play goals-against at home with only 13.
Feel free to add more interesting random stats in the comments section.

Deadline Deal
In the poll below I have listed some of the forwards who will be UFAs at the end of the season. I only included the names that I think will be available and realistically attainable for the Sabres at a fair price. The list ranges from veterans with Stanley Cup rings to younger guys who could potentially stay with the team beyond the rental period. So which players would fit in with our system? Which players would help solve our problems? Who would you give up to acquire them in a trade? What other UFAs (no Kovalchuk please) should be included in the discussion?
Discuss.
