If You Missed It! VIDEO: "Wilt 100″ (Wilt Chamberlain Documentary – Narrated By Bill Russell)

I know it was 50 years ago and the Spurs didn't exist when Wilt joined the NBA. But NBA/TV's documentary is really well done. The first couple clips show how different the NBA was back then and why Wilt is a LEGEND!.

PS. He spent most of his career with the "Philly Warriors" so this isn't a "Laker thing".

ESPAÑA Beats FRANCIA 77-53

Btw, I think that might be "le baguette" getting blocked at the rim at about 1:10. Hard to tell though.

Thought this might be interesting.

Derek Fisher was voted No. 4 of the top five floppers in the NBA in a recent Sports Illustrated poll...

Poor guy only got #4.

Silver Screen and Roll [Not so] Great moments from Celtics Camp

Lakers camp seems pretty quiet today.  And I am beyond tired of the "Bynum's Delayed Return" controversy.  So I thought it would be fun to check out what's up with the Lakers' foes these days.  And there is no better place to start than with the mean, green Celtics

ITEM 1:
Up on CelticsBlog I was amused to read this story about how Glen Davis is unsure of his role and annoyed that they brought in Rasheed last year and then the O'Neals this year when he has played so well.

Link here

Update:
Then today Doc Rivers beat me to it by saying "I think he's living up to [his Big Baby nickname]. I didn't even hear it, someone just told me. I'm not that concerned." ESPN Article here.

(This reminds me of the best new nickname I have heard for Shaq:  "Even Bigger Baby".)

ITEM 2:
Then there is their debate about the Lakers coming close to matching and surpassing the Celtics in number of championships.  You'll no doubt be surprised that their 1959 trophy "counts" whereas the Lakers' Minnesota championships don't.  (I don't feel too strongly either way.  I just find the debate amusing.)  Link Here.

ITEM 3:
[EDIT:  Oops!  Justin N was smart enough to look at the date and notice that item 3 was from way back in June.  I think they blog links to "related stories" even if they are old.  Sorry.]

And finally for now, Dan Shaughnessy in the Boston Globe writes of some smack talk Pau dropped on KG.

“On Kevin’s part, he’s also lost some explosiveness,’’ said Gasol. “He’s more of a jump shooter now, you could say . . . time passes and we all suffer it one way or another.’’

"Garnett’s young teammate, Rajon Rondo, raised his eyebrows when he heard Gasol’s remarks."

Seems like there is still a bit of hostility there.  I like it.  We are in their heads now.  Keep up the good work.

Disclaimer: If you visit Celticsblog be respectful.  I do hear they give Laker lovers a short leash.

Now I think I'll go rewind the DVR & watch game 7 again!

Wow! I HATE the Blazers but that sure is brutal for them. Roy says he's going to "try to play" in the playoffs. The ESPN guys Mashburn & Legler say no way.

Silver Screen and Roll POLL: Off-Season Brain-Teaser

Although NBA rosters are still being firmed-up for the coming season, we are now in the doldrums of the doldrums of the offseason and I have a little brain-teaser for all y’all to keep your NBA analyst skills sharp.

In 2009 Yao Ming was the starting center for the Western Conference All-Star Team and Shaquille O’Neal was the back-up center.  Unfortunately, Yao is out for the season and Shaq has been traded to the Eastern Conference Cavaliers.  So I want all you brainiac’s out there to tell us who will be the STARTING center for the 2010 Western Conference All-Star Team.

LAL – Andrew Bynum (Gasol is a PF, right?)

SAS – Antonio McDyess (Duncan is a PF, right?)

I can’t quite bring myself to vote for any of these guys as all-star starter

Silver Screen and Roll Poll: Who gets the last playoff spot in the West?

OK, I love Lamar and all.  Plus we need him so I hope he resigns with the Lakers.  But I’ve heard enough about his frickin’ contract negotiations already!  Beyond that, the Laker roster is already full so not much that happened in the draft or summer league impacts next season’s squad.

So take your mind off Lamar and the endless summer with this simple little poll.

Silver Screen and Roll Poll: Most Likely Christmas Day Matchups

Easy summer poll - no deep thought required

This off-season has been more interesting than most.  But assuming the Lakers sign Lamar then their most interesting moves are probably done.  Plus the Lakers’ summer league team does not include (m)any players that are likely to make their very full roster (except Ammo).

Who will be the marquee match-ups on Christmas Day this year?
Lakers v. Cavs; Boston v. Chicago

Not directly Lakers related but an amusing article about Shaq's intro to Cleveland and how eerily similar it is to his intro to Phoenix.

Orlando Pinstriped Post Will the Magic get "physical" with the Lakers?

I'm a Lakers fan who is trying to figure out the Magic.  And I just started posting here so if it is in the wrong place let me know & I'll delete it.

Ever since the Lakers lost to the Celtics last year the conventional wisdom on how to beat them is to "out physical" them.  By that I mean an extra grab, push or forearm shiver, etc. (oh yeah plus the KG growl & Kendick Perkins scowl)
