Representatives of Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc. say they want to calm nerves in the capital city after a summer of uncertainty over the fate of the railyard, and to take quick steps to get the redevelopment project back on track...Inland also indicated that it is willing to listen to any development suggestions – including an arena – that could make sense for the site.

...Hassan fits the Kings’ rebuilding process very well. Dalembert may/should be gone by the start of next season, vacating the spot of defensive-big-man-who-tries-not-to-get-in-DMC’s-way. I see no reason why Hassan can’t fill this role in the future. If all goes to according to plan, his development should perfectly mirror the team’s – slowly rising from irrelevance over the next two-three years, hitting his stride in the seasons that follow, and hopefully, peaking at great heights in his prime. In that regard, the Kings are absolutely perfect for a project big man.

If I'm reading this right, Tyreke Evans isn't just NaPG- he's a center.

It's entirely possible that Donté Greene was put on this planet purely to thrive in Summer League games. His ball-handling skills and decision-making aren't exposed against the inferior competition, and he essentially has license to fire at will. As a result, Greene reveals the flashes that made him such an intriguing prospect coming out of Syracuse. Yet that's part of the problem. Greene is so athletic and so talented for a 6-foot-11 player, but he's more or less the same talent he was a year ago or the year before that. Donté manages to catch lightning in a bottle in Vegas, but in the big leagues? He still has a fair way to go.

The Sacramento Kings ran the tallest team in the NBA this year with an effective height of about six-foot eight ... Despite being really long, the Kings didn’t rebound any better overall than the average team (50.4 TRB%). That’s largely because Donte Greene has arguably been the weakest 6-11 rebounder to get big minutes in the NBA of all time. A premature superlative? Possibly. But just remember that his 7.8 percent career total rebound rate is the lowest among any 6-11 or taller player to play at least 100 games in the NBA.

I said, 'You want some?' He was like, 'Damn right I want some.' He started walking toward me. So, you know, it's a good thing there was a ref there because, hey, he's one of the toughest guys in the league. I don't want to fight that guy.

I’d have to say our rookies (played) extremely well, led by Tyreke, of course… He’s just a young kid. The expectations of him are too high, but if he learns to become a more prominent point guard and things like that, he’ll be fine. He has to work on his defense, too.

Some Notes on Getting Blocked

An analysis of how often players get their shot blocked. It happens to Donté and Landry more often then it should. Tyreke? Not so much.

...he'll [Tyreke] train in Los Angeles this summer, with the main objective to improve his shooting and a number of other items on the to-do list as well. Keith Veney will be his shooting coach, adding Evans to his client list that has included Dallas' Caron Butler, Boston's Paul Pierce and Detroit's Ben Gordon, among others. Evans also will utilize a track coach to help with his conditioning and a boxing coach to push his physical ability and stamina to a new level.

...a leaguemate and I were discussing Sacramento's utter lack of player development for the past two years, especially the bigs. The only player who showed marked gains is Kevin Martin and that's mostly via his offseason work with David Thorpe. Thompson, Spencer Hawes and Sean May have all regressed instead of stepping forward this year.

It's a sad day for me in the sense that [Sacramento] was the first team that took a chance on me late in the first round of the draft," Martin told the Sacramento Bee from the team bus after news of the deal spread. "They showed so much loyalty to me throughout the years. They gave me the big contract to show that [they] loved me. ... [But] I just think it was time for us to go in a different direction. I was the young guy before, and now I'm the oldest starter. I think it's good.

Kings are looking at a Sergio Rodriguez deal with Memphis, most likely for a trade exception. It would save them his expiring salary the rest of the year and Sergio would certainly be happier. New York and New Jersey have also inquired.

When I first started playing, T-Mac (Tracy McGrady) and Vince Carter were definitely my favorite players. As I started to get older and learned the strengths of my game, Rashard Lewis was one guy who I looked up to.

In general, these young Kings are an emotional bunch, and about as transparent as toddlers. But Thompson, 23, who is a mature, delightful figure off the floor, is the ringleader of the on-court outbursts, and it's no coincidence that the slump coincides with his recent pattern of self-destruction.

Inefficient offensive units often have a tendency to squander a good 10 seconds before getting into their sets. Finding good shots against a defense as stingy as Cleveland's is a tough business, and the more time you budget to generate those looks the better. By milking 10 seconds off the clock, you also let your opponent off the hook because it requires far less energy to defend for 14 seconds than 24 seconds.

Nothing new here, but I can't help being delighted. Kings should strike while the iron is hot - trade him for Maynor!

#6 - Sergio Rodriguez: So Spanish Chocolate was a YouTube mirage. A team that wants to run, and needs a PG (even a capable back-up) could do far worse. Sacramento has buried him in the rotation, in part because Beno Udrih has redeemed himself and Donte Greene (a guard, I guess) is starting to come around. But Rodriguez, for all his faults, can push the tempo. He's restricted this summer, so maybe the Kings get a draft pick for him?
