Does anyone know if the Giants lost a draft pick by signing Sweeney? I didn't see anything about the timing of the deal.

Does Worrell's $500 K signing bonus count as money the Giants will spend in 2006 or in 2005? If it's '06, why the hell bother with a signing bonus at all? Just pay him a $2 M salary. Is there some weird tax consideration, either for the team or the player?
