Conundrum

I was talking with a fellow Longhorn about this earlier today and I have come up with a question for my fellow BONers. Would you rather see Texas do well for the rest of the season, finishing up with 9 or 10 wins as usual, or lose 4 or 5 more games this season, keeping in mind that the latter would all but assure a shakeup in the coaching regime?

Baton Rouge Longhorns?

I moved to Baton Rouge a couple of months ago, and I was wondering if there are any alumni/longhorn fans here. I haven't found anyone to watch games with, and since I don't have cable, I end up having to sit at the bar by my self and watch the game, if the manager is generous enough to turn a single tv to the Texas game.

Funny Aggie poll disparity

I know it's just the beginning of the season and the polls don't mean much, but I like that in the AP poll, the Aggies dropped two spots after winning in triple OT to an unranked team at home, but they manage to jump up 5 spots in the coaches' poll. Hopefully they'll drop out of both polls after an embarrassing loss next week at the hands of UL Monroe. Go Indians! Just kidding. But not really.

Conference play-outs

Here's a rundown of the major conference bid numbers and the number of teams remaining in the Sweet 16:

ACC - 7,1
Big East - 7,2
Big 10 - 6,1
Big 12 - 4,2
Pac 10 - 5,2
SEC - 5,3

Of particular interest to me are the ACC and Big 10. I know only a quarter of teams can make into the third round, but you would still expect a conference that is given enough respect to earn 6 or 7 bids from the commitee would perform better.

Anyone know where I could find a list of men's basketball players from about 1995 on? Texassports.com has player info, but it's limited to people that played from 1999 on. Just want to reminisce about the guys playing when I went to school there.

Brendan Hansen is a stud

Former Longhorn (always a Longhorn) stud Brendan Hansen broke the world records (both of which he previously held) in the 100m and 200m breaststroke at the National Championships. Though I don't have the stats to back it up, I'm sure that Ian Crocker, Brendan Hansen and Aaron Piersol, all Eddie Reese students, have broken more world records in the past three years than has any other trio (as long as that trio excludes Michael Phelps).
