4-0 Thoughts and Observations
Hello POD... I am an avid reader of this website but rarely post or comment...so sorry if I invade your collective circle... living in Texas and seeing this win today was awesome, what a great win
My observations of fans and my thoughts:
I just wanted to post my thoughts on the 4-0 record. Several fans seem to be very negative about our record, we're lucky, we have a lot to fix, blah blah blah. Yes, we have some improvements to make. However, this is a bottom-line business and its the Wins/Losses that matter. This is how I see it. Just for a moment, say the lions were a company such as wally. If they have two negative quarters, but finish the fiscal year off strong in the final two quarters with reaping profits and come out on top, we the investors are loving it. Of course we will bicker, and have the what ifs, but if the lions capitalize with wins, we are still ahead of the game. We can improve, but no one and nothing in this world is "purrfrrrect", we have to enjoy the positive outcomes.
I see it as two seasons ago or even last year, the lions were a first half team, a team that struggled to finish games. This season I see a totally different team that has the confidence and passion to finish the game until the last second. Although it is a nail biting, hair pulling process, the adversity we are facing can only have great impacts on this team in the future. We as fans should be very, very proud of this team and their effort. After all we are the fans, we love to see w's. I have all the faith and confidence in the world that schwartz, gunn, linehan, and crew will do their jobs and coach this team up to even higher levels of prosperity.
That's my spill, rather some agree or disagree. Lets enjoy this ride..the sky is the limit.

ESPN's "Ranking NFL starting quarterbacks"
Link :
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview10/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=5489176
Ok... So I was browsing on ESPN and noticed this article by John Clayton.. I think some of it is garbage... Stafford is listed in the hit or miss stage/category of qbs...
According to Clayton Stafford has a 55% chance of becoming an elite qb
Now read and compare his chances to some of the other QB'S chances .. The most glaring one for me Sam Bradford.. come on 85% in comparison to Stafford's 55%. Bradford has not taken a single "regular" season game snap, yet he is already being hailed as if he is better than Peyton, Brees, or any other elite QB for that matter. On top of that, where are Bradford's weapons? The article clearly lays that out on the table. So in essence I think Stafford is was undervalued, while Bradford for one is overvalued at this stage. I am not saying Bradford doesn't have the potential to be an elite qb in the future.
That is my opinion on the topic. Please disect the article for yourself and give me some opinions.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why not Tony Washington!
I know this has been discussed..and if you are going to leave comments about " we already talked about this" then stop reading this and move on...if you want to have a legit comment you may proceed..
Tony Washington could be a very good fit for the lions or any organization for that matter... we all worried about the fact that he is a registered sex offender blah blah blah..the kid was 15 or 16 at the time...young children and teenagers make mistakes..everyone in this country and in this world makes mistakes..includingyou and I...no one is perfect..but what will set you apart is you admitting to your mistakes with sincerity and doing your best to make good and never making that mistake again..how do we learn..mainly from mistakes..when your young.. if you touch a hot stove...you know not to do it again..right..obviously our justice system recognizes that humans will make bad choices...once they pay their dues they should be given a second chance...Ithere have been several multi-million and billion dollar frauds in this country...that have had severe consequences for thousands of people.. company goes bankrupt, employees lose their jobs, retirees lose pensions, investors suffer from loss etc. all because of selfish greedy people who make poor decisions and manipulate financials...and what do you know.. some of those people spend time in jail...then afterwards have a job with the SEC or the FBI..how is that ..because those people are thought to have learned from those mistakes and now they are given a responsibility to help detect and prevent frauds that could ruin others lives as well.. I know you say that may not be on the same level as a sex offender..well child molesters walk the streets everyday..and you may walk by one and not even know it...All am getting at is the fact that this young man has made right..he payed the time made sincere testimonies regarding his actions.he went to a Conservative christian college..If a christian school had the heart to accept him then why cant we or the NFL..this reminds me a lot of Michael Oher situation..although not really the same...a young man who just needed and wanted to be accepted with all the natural talents...I have a feeling that if this guy gets a shot he will be successful and teams will look back and regret ... like others have mentioned if you can run a dog fighting inhumane organization..kill a man even if not at fault... be a druggie.. or whatever and still be in the NFL this guy deserves a chance Too... let me know what you guys think thanks
Bruce Campbell ???
I am not sure about this guy...but he was projected to go in the first rd by fan pick ..but also tought to be one of the better OL in the draft.. He has fallen off the radar.. does anyone know if there is an off the field issue with him or does he not have the talent... because the lions could use some OL help I know they said it would take a little time to develop him but I am shocked to see he is on the board after three rds.
Any suggestions:
BTW: I am pleased with the picks thus far I hope we can find a hidden gem LB and S
With the second pick the detroit lions select __________?
Ok,
So with Hargrove visiting people are jumping on the idea that Okung would be the pick if a deal goes thru... I would not say that for sure... I think the defense is a major problem...still have holes at the CB position..Houston maybe the best we have... if Pacman Jones comes in and we get Wilson in RD. 2 they maybe ok... but I still would not be convinced at this point that Okung would be the pick... Ibecause Pitts is also coming to town..if we sign pitts as well would think Berry maybe the pick.. Yes we need a young stud @ LT but Defense is a bigger need and I think Berry is higher on the draft board in my opinion not taking need into consideration need...the d-line could be solid with Bosch - Hill - Williams - Hargrove ...depth with avril at end and hargrove could fill in a depth at DT as well.. the o-line could be addressed in a later rd.... so Berry may very well be the pick - Berry and Delmas would be one hell of a tandem..also consider Berry could potentially play CB as well so a player that could fill a big whole on D... as far as the RB situation is concerned .. I hope we can get Hardesty in the 5th.. many think he may fall that far..if he does take him...
so this if we have to get rid of a 3rd to get hargrove and we sign pitts my dream draft would be
1st Berry
2nd Wilson
4th OL
5th Hardesty
and the rest BPA
I would be 100% satisfied with those moves lmk what you guys think
...Bored and just have a question/thought
Well... I see Javon Walker is looking to make a comeback into the league...
Yes we signed Nate ..but I dont really like B. Johnson or Northcutt... If we could get rid of one or both of those guys I wouldn't mind seeing Javon Walker given a chance.. I think he could be really cheap because his lack of production over the past couple of years..but just imagine if he comes back 75-90% ...
CJ.. Nate .. and Javon as our three receivers... I think that would be nice...
Another Note:
My thoughts on Pac Man Jones.
I dont know which way to go on this one... I mean he has character issues..he may be a disturbance in the club house..but if we get rid of northcutt and get javon in the scenario above..he could be added to be a return man ... and depth at the cb position... I think Schwartz could straighten him up.. so a contract with incentives would be crucial... dont throw a lot of money at him unless he produces..
Thanks .. sorry if its not to par...
I am pretty new to this site
Jordan Shipley
If Jordan Shipley is available with our third round pick, should we draft him?
I think If we addressed the D-Line and DB position with picks one and two it could make sense.. First we would also need to sign a RB in FA... I think Chester Taylor would be a great choice... he should have a lot of miles left in him... thus if we sign the RB and draft two defensive players with our first two picks ... a WR could be a possibility. .I know many would frown upon this but we need another WR.. he would make a great Slot receiver... another young weapon for stafford...with CJ, pettigrew, and Shipley ...Stafford would have a lot of options and quite frankly ones who can catch...so let me know what you guys think... I personally think shipley will be gone way before our 3rd pick
