I don't know if this might be a bit premature, but i was wondering how many people on the bloodyelbow are going to UFC 100. My friend and I just ordered our tickets for the event and the expo, and are staying in the Tropicana. If there is a good amount of people, maybe we should all pick a place to meet up and have a few drinks. Tell me what you all think.

5 guys the UFC should get

We all know that the UFC pretty much has a monopoly when it comes to MMA, but there is still some great talent out there that many fans would love for the UFC to pick up. I thought it would be a great for everyone to talk about who their 5 personal picks would be, so I will start it out.

1. Fedor - Fedor is a great fighter, and i have hated on him in the past, but this weekend he has proved that he is the top dog once again. Honestly, if he ends up fighting Barnett (who will never be in the UFC), there will be no one left for him to fight. With the UFC, there are so many great matchups. Velasquez, Carwin, and De Santos are all great up-and-comers that could be Championship level by the time Fedor could get to the UFC. Randy vs Fedor is still a dream fight. Brock vs Fedor might sell more PPV's than any fight ever, and as far as matchup wise could be Fedor's toughest test. Fighters like Gonzaga and Kongo could pull a Thiago Alves and just go on a tear and become legitimate threats again. Lets not forget Frank Mir, one guy that matches up very well with his new found standup. The possibilities are endless.

2. Allistar Overeem - This guy, Evans, and Alves were the most improved fighters last year and he seems to only be getting better. He is coming off a brutal beatdown of a K-1 champ in a K-1 match! He is a super exciting fighter and is a great talker. Plus, this would bring a legitimate European star for the UFC to use in its shows over there. He comes in right as a contender to the title. Heavyweights are where the big money is at and he has the total package: he is a top fighter and he is insanely huge/ripped, and he loves to add drama to a fight.

3. Gegard Mousai - Right now Anderson Silva looks unbeatable, but i think this guy could give him the biggest challenge to date. Only 23, yet he is a vetern of the sport with 27 fights against top talent such as Jacre, Kang, Manhoef, and Hector Lombard. He has great striking which he showed in his recent knockout over a K-1 champ and great submissions as well. This is what is needed to beat Silva, being great in every aspect, not just the ground. I still don't believe that Maia can come in with Silva and eat some punches to be able to take him to the ground, but Mousai could.

4. Little Nog - After his dominating win over Matyushenko this weekend, he has propelled his self in the top 10 LHWs again. Even though this is the deepest division in the UFC as far as contenders, he would be great to throw in the mix. With the loss of Sokoju, the win one-loose-one streaks of Chuck, Wandy, Vera, and Jardine, little Nog would be a breath of fresh air and he would provide many new interesting matchups. Also, the angle of having twin brothers fight in 2 divisions would be great.

5. Shinya Aoki - with BJ moving up, the lightweight division is kind of in a weird state. The division is great and exciting, but lacks many true contenders. Lets look: Sherk is the doing what Rich Franklin has done the last few years, beat every contender, but show that he can not beat the champ. Even though he maybe the second best LW fighter, people don't want to see him lose to BJ 5 times. KFlo has reinvented himself and became a force, but lets look at who he is beat: Huerta, who was fed scrubs coming up, Lauzon, good but very green, Joe Stevenson, which after BJ has fallen apart, etc... Diego Sanchez is the only other top contender right now, but that is based on his performance at WW, having never fought at LW. Now that is over, lol, Aoki provides many great new matchups and a style no one else in the UFC has: he works only to take it to the ground and confuse you with crazy submissions. While the other fighter is trying to get out of all of these, he opens his opponent up for something easy and he takes advantage. Even though BJ loves to stand, i would love to see these guys grapple. Dustin Hazlett's growth in popularity shows that great submissions artists are becoming more appreciated in the UFC.

Honorable Mentions:

Vitor Belfort - if he is back to his old self, he could be one of the biggest stars in the UFC right now

King Mo - he = young, middleweight Rampage

Evan Tanner is Retiring.....Maybe

Check out this new blog from Evan Tanner on spiketv.com. Tanner says that if he can't get his health issues fixed, he is going to retire.

"It was a long walk back to the dressing room after the fight. The doctor was there waiting on me, telling me I had to go to the hospital to get a CAT scan and stitches, letting me know they were giving me a medical suspension of 45 days. I was in no mood for that, and I know I was rude about it. I’ve known him for a while, but I don’t think I ever got his name. If he happens to read this, I would like to offer him my sincerest apology for my disrespectful behavior.

I was pissed off about the fight, f**king sad, f**king raging, on edge, all of it heavy with me, trying to maintain, trying not to explode. Camera men in my face, corner men, doctors, security, paramedics, friends, journalists, too many bodies crowding me, too many hands pulling me too many ways. I couldn't move, I couldn't breath, standing there afraid of the man that would come out if I lost control. I broke free, turned my back, stepped into the bathroom and closed the door. I tried to catch my breath in that small space, tried to calm down.

I took a moment to myself, then stepped out, talked to who I needed to talk to, signed what needed to be signed, and handled what needed to be handled.

The dressing room cleared, and I had another moment to myself. I was there gathering my things when Brad walked around the corner with a small hand held video camera. He understood where I was, and respectfully asked if he could have a moment to ask a few questions. I've known Brad for a little while. He's always seemed like a good guy. I had no idea where to footage would be used, there are so many cameras all the time. I wasn't paying so much attention to the camera. It was more like I was talking to a friend. I guess that's the footage that's been out on the internet. I haven't seen it.

Losing sucks. It’s been pretty tough the last couple of days. I’ve been keeping to myself. I haven’t felt like talking with anyone. I haven't seen anything about the fight. I know I looked really bad. I don’t need to see it, or hear about it to know that. I’ve been having some serious health problems for a while now. They’ve caused me some problems in my daily life and have seriously affected my training. I obviously haven’t been the same guy in the ring.

I’m going to be taking a little time off to see a doctor. If we can’t get this health issue figured out, I’m done, I’m retiring. I don’t want to step back into the Octagon unless I’m 100%, and I can give the fans the type of fight they deserve to see.

I don’t see it coming to that though. Tomorrow I’m hopping on the bike, and riding up to Oregon to visit the good doctor. I’ve got a good feeling about things.

I’ll be posting up pictures from Saturday night in the next couple of days, and I’ll definitely be telling the story of the motorcycle trip to Oregon."

I as with most people kind of saw this coming. Losing in a dramatic fashion is always devasting to someone who is trying to make a comeback, especially a former champion. It is probably a good idea because as a fan, I want to remember Evan Tanner as the guy that smashed punks like Phil Baroni and David Terrell, instead on the guy that gets smashed by mid-level fighters.

Confirmed fighter on new TUF

When me and my buddies were watching the TUF finale, i noticed that one fighter in the ring and one of the promo shots looked famaliar. The guy i saw was Allen Browning from Lexington,Ky. He trains at the 4 Seasons MMA gym in Lexington and he gave me and my friend are first ever MMA lesson. I also know one of his friends and he said that he would be on the show. He was fighting for the AFL mma promotion, the same one that just signed ex-WWE wrestler Bobby Lashley. This is the first i've heard of this story on the internet, so i must have the scoop i guess.
