Just a good ol' boy, born and raised here in NC. I have been a hockey fan since the 70's. Wouldn't give you a nickel for a NASCAR race or walk across the street to meet a driver. I have true love for the game and have been a fan of the Hurricanes sine they were the Whalers.

Wishing all the Canes faithful a wonderful and thanks filled day. We have so much to be thankful for today, family, health, employment, to being able to live free in the best country in the world. Just take the time to tell those whom mean the most just how thankful you are...........and I for one am very thankful for a little Southern Fried Hockey............

Canes Country We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

These words are as powerful today as they were 235 years ago, let's remember this today and the days to follow. Take a break from the fireworks and the hot dogs to remember how we got here and the sacrifices that have been made to keep us here. Pray for those that stand watch over this freedom in every corner of the world, that we may continue to live free.

Have a safe and happy Fourth !!!!

Canes Country Thanks to all who serve or have served


Just a quick Thank You to all the folks who work to make this world a better place. Thank you all for a job well done.

We will continue to remember you and your families in our prayers.... Thank you to all who did not return,,,, you are forever in our thoughts and prayers......

Thanks to all the families that have loved ones somewhere else other than where they should be....we thank you for your sacrifice..

Canes Country twas the night before Christmas


Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the (Canes) nation

Not a fan was stirring, not even a mouse;

The skates were all hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The players and fans were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of Lord Stanley danced in their heads;

And mamma in her ' Cam jersey, and I in my cap,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the rink there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so confused and so slow,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Mo.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Skinner! now, Staal ! now, Corvo and RU!

On, Wardo! on Gleason! on, Rosie and Cole!

To the top of the bench! and over the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild HURRICANES fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to the nose bleed section the coursers they flew,

With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Mo too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little skate.

As I drew in my head, and was turning around,

Down the chimney St. Mo came with a bound.

He was dressed in a cheap suit, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with with one of his cheaper loud ties;

A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin well he didn't have a beard;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;

He had a broad face and a land a glare in his eyes,

That squinted even more when he laughed like a scowl or a geer.

He was short and skinny, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when he coached, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I a season nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And filled all the skates with jocks and new pucks; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night"

Canes Country Riding The Storm Out

Good evening all......

I was all set for a week on the coast then a fella by the name of Earl thought different. As I watched the local news waiting for the Weather Channel to show up. My wife busied herself with the packing, we had been told to leave the island. I have lived in North Carolina for all my almost 45 years and have never fled a hurricane I did witness Hugo and the aftermath that followed, but never been told to evacuate. As I drove and filled in with the mass exodus my mind was a drift with thoughts of the storm and the omen it brought, not a omen of dread or doom but one of a positive note. There is another storm on the on way. I will take the omen of the pending Hurricane as one of future victories for our beloved Canes just as swift and destructive as Earl we will have a wining season and show the nay sayers  what youth can bring to the table. It is a promise of things to come both good and bad, we will turn a few heads this year and will stick around in the post-season.

Canes Country My first post



Good evening,

First time posting, long time reading......... just wanted to say hey. I am proud to be a Canes fan and always will be.. 

I live right outside of Charlotte and can not wait until the Canes have a team local. The folks around here think they know a thing or two about sports teams they don't know squat. If it aint basketball or don't go around in a circle they just don't get it.  We try and make it to a few games every year, and as many activities as we can.
