Heat’s Beasley admitted into rehab center
Really hate to see this, but at least he's doin the right thing
Heat acquire Richardson from Timberwolves for Blount
This guy is getting some serious frequent flyer miles this off season!
If the Amare deal actually happens.....
Would we still have the money or ability to sign an actual center (even if only for backup purposes)?
I hear callings that we could stick Amare himself in the center slot but lets be honest, even AZ papers say his defense is comparable to a cardboard cutout of a basketball player. However, I think that everybody agrees that defense and rebounding are two key issues that the Ws need to address this off season in order to have a more successful year. Giving up Biedrins for Amare creates a sizable deficit in interior defense and rebounding and what we get in return is a good offensive post presence and more scoring.
To solve these problems i think that investing in players such as Anderson Varejao or Marcin Gortat would be extremely helpful. Varejao has a player option and likely wont opt out unless he feels that the Shaq deal effectively nuked his minutes and he felt he would never play. He's more of an example of the type of player i'd like to see the Ws acquire Gortat, however, is a restricted free agent and after the VC deal that the magic just pulled they are certainly weak on finances especially if they have any desire to chase Hedo.
Would making a move at Gortat or another center to replace Biedrins for rebounding and defense be possible with the salary invested in Amare (since some sort of extension will likely be involved in the trade deal) and do you think that it is necessary?
