Arron Afflalo had another fantastic double-double to lead Denver over Memphis 123-101. In 31 minutes, AA had 22 points on 7-13 shooting and 6-6 FTs, 13 rebounds (to lead all players), an assist and zero turnovers.

Perhaps most impressive, he shut down the antithesis of a classy role-model by keeping OJ Mayo to 12 pts on 4-13 shooting and with 4 TOs.

"The NCAA said Tuesday that IUPUI allowed erroneous eligibility certification for 97 student-athletes from 2003-04 through 2006-07, demonstrating a lack of institutional control and a failure to monitor by the university."

An indication to what might happen to the "school" across town?

"When the Lakers were in Golden State last week, the Warriors had the opportunity to tie the game at the end with a three-pointer. Coming out of a timeout, Warriors rookie Stephen Curry walked past Kobe and asked, "You worried?"

Bryant, who has seen his share of pressure situations and hit six game-winners this season, sneered at the youngster.

"Worried?" he said. "Hit the three-pointer to tie the game and then I'll show you who should be worried. Worried?"

Curry and Monta Ellis both missed three-pointers in the final seconds."

Ernie Kent has been fired as the Oregon head coach after 13 years. It's been a long-time coming. Hope the guy finds something else productive to do. The more important question is who they hire next. The AP article mentions the possibility of P.J. Carlesimo, former coach of the Trailblazers. Oregon is opening a new $277 million court, so we'll see what impact that has on recruits/coaching hire.

Can't say it's much of a surprise, but Henderson will sign his LOI of become a toejam in the next few days. Owa, go to work! Put that prima donna and his wannabe rapper dad in their place!

Henderson had said he would wait until sanctions were announced against SUC. So this 'news', more than anything, indicates that justSC will get off with a slap on the wrist. Again, no surprise.

OKC beat Utah 119-111 in a playoff-positioning battle. Oklahoma City now has won 17 of their last 20 games. Westbrook was a beast with 30 pts (12 for 16 shooting), 3 rebounds, 11 assists.

Brian Price on choosing UCLA:

"A moment of fun or misbehavior meant nothing to Price if it might jeopardize his long-range plans.

Even the decision to go to UCLA over USC was motivated by the long run. Price was drawn to Westwood by its peaceful surroundings and diversity, and felt the serene setting might be a better fit than at USC, which wasn't far from where he grew up."

I love that a moment of misbehavior meant nothing. So awesome. I hope he does well at the Draft. But frankly, that won't matter. He will be a star in the NFL because he has the same internal drive that MJD has, one that isn't very common and will make him a better player than half the guys who draft higher.

Happy Pi Day!

Not to be outdone by his mentor - the new western conference rookie of the month - RW goes off against Sacramento in a 113-107 victory. Westbrook had 30 points, 13 assists (only 3 TO), and 5 rebounds.

Collison scored 35 pts and brought his team back from being down 25 pts. Unfortunately the Hornets came up short 108-100, partially due to a careless TO by DC late in the fourth. Regardless, the commentators were continuously singing DC's praise throughout the game. Just another amazing game and representation of what commitment in Coach Howland's system can do.

Brendan Lane sprained his ankle. He is now questionable for the game on thursday, which makes the rotation even more difficult considering Keefe is out for the season and Nelson is recovering from eye surgery.

Both excelled in an intense 109-107 victory for OKC. Westbrook even finished with a triple-double! It's amazing how well our former Bruins are doing in the league!

Not that we should care, but it has to do with $UC* (and any information about --- Owa's future ragdoll --- is relevant).

All signs point to Seantrel staying with SC. Firstly, there needs to be an announcement of specific punishments handed down by the NCAA before April 1st, which is quite possibly not going to happen. The hearings are late February, but specifics usually come several weeks later. Second, those punishments have to be enough to 'totally decimate the progam (his dad's words) for him to go elsewhere.

It's especially interesting that his dad is an aspiring musical artist and finds it necessary to refute any hope of working with Snoop Dog. Hmmm... do I smell something fishy again going on at the Mausoleum?

RW chased a quadruple double.
He led the Thunder to a 104-95 win over Golden State, putting in 21 points, 10 assists, 8 steals and 7 rebounds!
Always great to see the real Ben Ball Warriors dominate at the next level.

Reeves Nelson suffered a concussion early in the game but insisted on playing. Here's hoping he recovers quickly, because it was fairly obvious that something was wrong with him today.

I don't think anyone posted this as a fanshot yet. Apparently Arizona implement some sort of punishment for past events under Lute Olson's reign. It doesn't appear to be a ban on post-season play, but interesting nonetheless.

Please excuse me for the source, but it's still shocking nonetheless.

In the first few seconds of the clip, Owa ends all speculation on how to pronounce his full name.
The rest of the clip is somewhat decent, but old. I just thought we should all know and memorize his name so that we can thank his mom and family at the Rose Bowl next year for helping to bring such a great student-athlete into the Bruin family.

Watch the beginning of the video. On the second go, Owa bowls over Seantrel. Hopefully a sign of things to come!

Lamborghini at UCLA

Walking to class this morning (around 10am), I passed by Spaulding and saw a silver lamborghini (amazing car) with a texas license plate parked right next to the entrance to the field. Were there any recruits on campus? And who drives a Texas lamborghini? Could it be completely unrelated to football? (though that would be odd)

USC just fired it's student manager (probably the only 'student' affiliated with that program) for yelling at the refs in Eugene. Nothing normally wrong with that, except the coach actually blamed the team loss on the incident!!!

"He definitely is no longer with us," O'Neill said. "I know one thing. We had momentum with a two-point game and it turned into a four-point play. I've never heard of this happening before."

Kevin Love led Minnesota over New York 112-91 with 25 pts and 11 rebounds.
Ryan Hollins, recently put into the starting lineup, had a solid 16 points and 3 blocks.

He sounds like a good, upstanding kid. Obviously we all hope he comes here. Regardless though, I wish him well regardless of where he chooses among the three.

Arron Afflalo, arguably the hardest working Ben Ball Warrior and a true bruin, had the game of his pro career thus far. In 36 minutes he had 24 pts on 9-11 shooting (6-7 on threes), 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 7 assists, 0 turnovers. His +/- was +12 as Denver beat Charlotte 104-93 (though the nuggets were without Carmelo)

I know, it's shocking, huh? Jon Gold (with the input from Brandon Huffman I think) put together a list of our remaining prospects and predicts who will come to UCLA and why.

Watching tv at 1am, I just noticed that our very own Ryan Moya scored the only TD for the west team in the East-West Shrine game on a pass from BYU's Max Hall. He's only mentioned twice in the article since the West actually lost 13-10. Regardless, it's nice to see a guy like that get a little final recognition. Here's hoping he's drafted somewhere and finds a place on a roster.

A little more UCLA info from this game: Moya for this game was listed as a fullback. UCLA also had Reggie Carter, ATV and Terrence Austin play in the game.

The story is behind a subscription firewall, but there is a comment in the short intro open to everyone that I thought was funny.
"Anthony Jefferson took an official visit to his hometown team, UCLA, last weekend....I checked out all the stuff I hadn’t seen before like the dorms and just toured the whole campus. The dorms are really nice and very spacious."

I'm guessing they didn't show Jefferson the classic dorms: Dykstra, Hedrick, Rieber and Sproul. Spacious wouldn't be the word I'd use to describe those original four.

Although not a complete surprise (see Gold), Barr finally committed to UCLA over Notre Dame. He comes in as either an enormous RB (which causes injury questions) or as a LB (which we need more).

Just keeping everyone updated. Rykeem Yates committed to UCLA over the weekend.
