a very obscure, but very possible solution for our backup QB

I like the idea of drafting a backup QB for Romo this offseason and think that my school (Abilene Christian) may have just produced a great candidate.

Billy Malone just graduated from ACU and led our team to a perfect regular season that ended in us being ranked #2 nationally in Div 2. We did lose a heartbreaker in the third round of the playoffs but in the second round we won by the score of 93-68 (not a typo)

Just watching Billy play every week convinced me that he could make a decent backup in the NFL. He is more poised in the pocket than any college QB I've seen and literally looks like a man among boys. This is probably due to the fact that he will be 26 by the time the draft comes around which is the main reason I think he is prime to be a backup. His story is very long and entertaining and I'll post a link to a NY Times article about him later on here. His age brings the experience we need and his obscurity make it easier for us to get him.

Also I think it would be great because another famous Cowboys backup QB came out of ACU. The one-hit-wonder Clint Longley.

Billy was a D1 recruit before his heart condition forced him to take a few years off. Now hes perfectly healthy. (talks more about it in the articles about him)

This is Billy's ACU profile

This is the story of Billy's career and is probably the best comeback story of any player entering the draft this year (read both pgs)

This is another profile of Billy with his stats for his first three years

This is another article by Bruce Feldman of ESPN about billys story

I honestly think Billy could be a very plausible solution to our backup QB situation, and his age is what is keeping his draft stock from rising which would be all the better for the Cowboys so we dont have to use one of ou higher picks to pick him up

I know we have tons of people that are on this blog and we've all watched tons of football in our lives. Im sure that there's a good number of awesome, crazy, or unbelievable moments that weve seen here so i figured we could share some of our best football memories here (not just cowboys).

The two most memorable football moments in my life happened just last year. First i got to go see Coppell High School beat Southlake carroll in double overtime in what was probably the overall best football game ive ever seen.

My other is prob the most fun I've had at a game when I went to my school's (Abilene Christian-D2) opening playoff game this year. Yall might of heard about it on ESPN but ACU beat west texas a&m 93-68. seeing that much scoring was a spectacle to behold and ill never forget it

Did I turn off the game on Sunday? Yes.

Do I believe that this team lacked passion and desire wen they needed it most? Yes.

Do I think that this team needs to have a lot of changes? Yes.

But what I don't think is that we need to tear everything down that we have built up right now. We don't need to crucify our quarterback. We don't need to cut our best offensive weapon for the past 3 seasons (TO). We don't need to pick up our torches and pitchforks in order to run Wade and/or Jerry out of town.

Right now it feels like the Cowboys, the team we love the most have hit rock bottom. It feels like we have put out the absolute worst product that this team can possibly put out. I just want everyone to take a breath and look at the whole picture. Going 9-7 and missing the playoffs by one game is a hell of a rock bottom to hit. If this is our worst performance then that makes me even more excited to see a better one from us. We will rebound. We will change.

The Lions went freaking 0 and 16 this year. The Chiefs and Rams went 2 and 14 and the Browns, Bengals, and Seahawks went 4 and 12. Would you rather be one of these teams?

Our "worst" is still better than 18 teams in the NFL.

STOP POLARIZING when it comes to the cowboys. It seems like everyone here is like freaking Katy Perry and things are either hot or cold, black or white. Was this season was a failure? YES. But so was every other season in the teams history except for 5.

This isn't the end of the world guys. I'm only 18 years old and I've grown up watching the Cowboys, sadly the only super bowl I even remember being cognizant of is our last one.

I understand that most of the people here lived through the glory days and are dying to see them again. I've grown up with concussion Troy, Emmitt just stretching for the record and a whole lot of 5-11 crap. I wish more than anything for the cowboys to be the best in the land and dominant in every aspect but that takes time to develop.

I don't want to be a team that has a revolving door at head coach, or quarterback, or any position because that is simply a recipe for failure. Do you remember Quincy the cokehead, or Henson and Chutch the baseball players? How about Vinny T or Bledso, the two with cinderblocks for feet? I remember the feeling that I had when we put Romo in for Drew and as the season panned out we realized that we had finally gotten a quarterback. A real quarterback. This is his third season to see playing time in the NFL. His third. At this point, the first round pick Troy hadnt won a superbowl either. Kinda harsh that we expect undrafted Romo to be more polished and ready for Troy. Give him a break, he's our quarterback, we can't do that to our quarterback (no I'm not crying haha)

Sure get a new coach for next year. If he fails to win a superbowl do you fire him? Then what? At some point you're going to have to let a system to get settled and I don't think that even 2 years is enough to do that.

Look at the winners of the SB lately and tell me who had only a second year HC? I may be wrong but i think the only one (and it was a freak example because he was handed the unquestionably best defense in the league) is Gruden with the Bucs.

I agree that Wade needs to get this team into shape, fix the chemistry and the penalties and be a little more strict. Run him out of town? I dont think so. Be grateful for a minute that there are no fans going to Cowboy games wearing brown bags on their heads...

Espn just reported that Josh Howard admits to smoking marijuana during the offseason. Just the whipped cream that we need on top of this great playoff run so far. Apparantly he claims that it does not affect his play or his character. I dont know about most of you guys but I would think twice before sending my kid to a basketball camp in the summer where the sponser is a pothead. The mavs did not need this right now
