how UT can learn from JoePa

Since it was only a short year ago that we found ourselves in the same bowl situation as the Fightin' Farmers did this year, I thought it worth checking out this game.

What I saw on the Aggie end was disappointing, which in turn made me slightly more depressed about our loss on Turkey Day+1, but at the same time I saw something very interesting on the offensive side from Penn State.  I couldn't help but think about it in terms of 'what if Texas were to do the something similar?'

If you saw the game you may recall that Penn State has 2 good QB's:   one is more of a passer, the other more of a pure athlete/running QB.  What they did quite effectively was run a half dozen or more plays in which the starter (we'll call him Quaker Colt) brought in the play and then split out at WR while the other QB (Quaker Chiles) took the snap from center.

The formation alone messed with the Aggies D big time, and I was impressed that old school Joe Paterno adapted to the talent he had on hand.  Now if we could only do the same in the Burnt Orange Nation.  Comments?

Reggie Bush fined for antics in playoff game...

Given that there were a few posts about this after that game between the Bears and Saints, I have to say I'm glad they went back and acted on this.

a pretty decent playoff scenario

I'm not a huge fan of Dan Wetzel, writer for Yahoo Sports.  He's pretty typical of most East Coast/West Coast centric sports writers who think that between USC and Ohio St./Michigan/Notre Dame there is a vast wasteland that deserves little consideration outside of an occasional bone to Oklahoma, but he's got a pretty good format here outlined that might be worthy of discussion.

Comments, additions, subtractions?

Aggies in the Holiday Bowl

As a loyal Big XII'er I truly want to see all our teams, and especially the Texas teams in the Southern Div., do well.  However not everyone else feels that way.  Outside of the Oklahoma game, this is the most interseting Big XII game I see so I was wondering how the BON faithful are feeling.  Try not to think of the spuds like Brazos when responding...remember the better the rest of the conf does improves our chances when we get to conf play next year, and kills the entire 'how tough was your non-conf schedule' argument!
