Our Neighbors hype the Cascadia Cup

Pretty cool video from Vancouver hyping the match at Portland this Saturday.

Drew Carey - We want to be competitive worldwide

"[We not only want to] win the MLS cup, but be competitive worldwide — be the top team in the world." Carey says the goal is ambitious and nearly impossible with the current MLS salary cap, "but down the road that’s what we’re working towards."

David Tenney on Sounders advanced training tech

Great interview with Sounders conditioning coach gives some insights into how they have discovered and applied advanced technology to fine tune training and recovery to optimize game day performance. Tenney credits HRV (heart rate variability) with helping Alonso avoid late season quad strains and Riley never got fatigued according to the data. And this little tidbit on unexpected benefits from summer friendlies with top clubs: We noticed there were some European teams coming though Seattle for pre-season, who used what I would call a scientific approach to training, and were starting to figure out how to use it with the OmeagWave program. After coming by your facility, and seeing the information we were able to get from it, I decided it was an investment in improving how we prepare our athletes.

They say I'm a dreamer

With the Red Bulls take down of the Galaxy last night, the Sounders can pull within ONE point of LAG before Landycakes takes the pitch again. I know LAG losing or tying their last two games is a long shot but if we win the next two Saturdays we definitely put pressure on them when they take on Chivas on Sunday the 16th.
