I'm a life long Leaf fan that's temporarily moved to Montreal. I want the Leafs to win the Cup mostly to shut up everyone here.

Montreal Canadiens are Red Stripe:
They’re short, overpriced and don’t speak French either.

Toronto Maple Leafs are Guinness:
They’re slow and heavy, have a storied history, highly recognizable logo and are famous for their Irish head.

Sources also told Tedesco that George Gillett, the outgoing owner of the Montreal Canadiens, hammered Balsillie for telling a French-language newspaper in November of last year that the Canadiens were for sale, claiming that Balsillie's comments destabilized the franchise and directly contributed to Montreal's failure in the playoffs.

Q: What's the scariest thing you saw from a Flyers fan during your time in Philly?
A: There was one guy who had a Mohawk and tattoos on the side of his head, and he changed his name -- legally -- to Flyer Eric. That's probably the scariest thing I think I've seen.

Hockey Futures talks with James Reimer.

I wonder if we'll get to know him any better than this?

Joining Gilroy in his journey through minor hockey was his kid brother, Timmy. They grew up only a couple of blocks from the Nassau County Coliseum, the home of the New York Islanders. But the only player they knew was Wayne Gretzky. When it came time to sign up for numbers, the brothers both wanted No. 99.

"That was the first one taken and we got to practice late that day. I went 98 and he (Timmy) went 97."

But now No. 97 is the only number Gilroy will wear. That's because Timmy died at age 12, the result of a bicycle accident.

"On the day he passed away, I promised mom I'd always wear his number," said Gilroy.

I wonder if this will have any effect on the Leafs landing him, what with Burke's imposed "no numbers over 40" mandate.

Some strange, strange choices in there, including Kadri going 22nd? Just goes to show the NHL can't do anything right.

Hat tip to Kukla's.
