I guess you could call me the resident female at RR. It's a tough job, but someone has to pick up after all these slobs ;) Just kidding. When I'm not busy making non-important comments in the game threads or working on BOD posts, I'm out at the ballpark watching my boys in blue.
Unfortunately I tend to lurk in the shadows and forget about RR from October to April.

"Adam writes [an email] that he's going to a pro game in Kansas City and he gets to meet some of the players because of this deal they have for up-and-coming baseball players. Do I want any autographs? I rack my brain and can't think of anyone, so I tell him to surprise me."
Even fictional characters circa 2009 had trouble figuring out super stars from the KC Royals...Hopefully this Adam kid was smart and got a Grienke autograph. More to come as I continue to read this gem of a book...including a possible book review.

Scrub of the Year: 2011 Edition
From what I've heard on talk radio and from friends and family, everyone is absolutely convinced that the downfall of the entire Royals franchise is going to fall on the shoulders of Alex Gordon. I mean, hello? The Alex Gordon domination watch as of March 31st was 0-5 with 3 Ks. If that doesn't reek of scrubyness, I don't know what does. The sooner we all agree that he's of no worth, the sooner we can get on with writing off the season. It's all part of the process after all, right?

New Rule: You don't post Ks for your pitcher when he gives up more homers than strike outs. Please, for God's sake take it down BEFORE it gets to the 9th inning. We don't need an homage to his brilliant cookie tossing performance.
Pat Venditte: Switch Pitcher
This kid is a switch pitcher in the Yankee farm system. That's so...crazy. I don't even have words for it.
Totals as of May 6, 2005-2009 (I'm a sucker for this)
- 2009: 17-11 (607), 1st, 4th best in Majors!
- 2008: 14-18 (438), 4th, back 2.5
- 2007: 10-22 (313), 5th, back 10
- 2006: 7-21 (250), 5th, back 13
- 2005: 7-22 (241), 5th, back 15
BOD: Boyfriend of the Day, May 6th, 2009 PLUS a special BOD Poll!
This is a special edition BOD in that I have a bit of a problem. My totals are very skewed! I have players such as Callaspo and Crisp that have been freaking BOSS all season but are lagging in points. I want to make sure that players that are doing well day to day get a little love. So What I'm going to do is give you a chance to vote on players you think have contributed over the past 1/6th (roughly) of the season. So leave a comment with that players name in the subject, and if you want to vote, reply to THAT comment with something like +1 or second or third or what have you. Try not to let the May games affect you but if they do, so be it!
The player with the most points will get...oh, 10 BOD points, second place will get 7 BOD points, and third place will get 5 BOD points. If there are other players who have multiple votes but not enough for placing, I will award them 1-3 BOD points, depending on the number of votes for them.
This new segment? We're gonna call it the BOD Monthly Socialism Experiment. Because I feel a little like Stalin right now, minus the 'stache and the killing of millions. Either that or I feel like Bowser when he gets all badass in the last five turns of a Mario Party game.
BOD: Boyfriend of the day, April 22nd, 24th, 27th, 29th, 30th
Whoo doggy. WIth the help of some fellow RR readers, I have finally worked up the courage to play catch up. Just realize that some of these games will not get a SK, and that's fine. Too much love is a bad thing at times.
Now all I have left to do is update that damn list of points! I really need to learn how to use excel to make my life easier!
BOD: Boyfriend of the Day, May 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th
Okay, so I'm getting this out of the way now. And we're going to get April up and then I'm going to do tonight's game. Because God only knows how much I need a distraction from stupid men right now.

BOD: Boyfriend of the Day, April 18, 2009
Major bummer that I don't have two of these. I was hoping for a double post, which is why this is so tardy. Add in homework, driving, and meetings and well...yes :) But we're discussing a gem of a game that I am particularly proud of and think would be akin to the DDJ walk off homer from last year in terms of its importance to the direction of our team and where this franchise will be heading in the next few months/years.
Royals as of April 19th, 2005-2009
- 7-4/.636 (2009) 1st in division
- 9-8/.529 (2008) 2nd in division
- 4-9/.308 (2005) 5th in division
- 4-11/.267 (2007) 5th in division
- 2-11/.154 (2006) 5th in division

I hate decisions. Bah!
BOD: Boyfriends of the Day, April 13 & 14, 2009
My week has been busy so that would be why this is so late. Over the past 5 days I have literally had 5 tests/quizzes so you're just lucky that I got to watch baseball at all, huh! So I'm going to go ahead and post these both in the same. Which, as a note, may be what happens for other series match ups as well. I'm still tweaking my methods!

BOD: Boyfriend of the Day, April 12, 2009
Phew, what a doozy! Let's get this bizzle rolling, yeah?
"If we don’t get (in the playoffs), then in our eyes we had a failed season," Royals catcher John Buck says. "It’s not a matter of, ‘Let’s just get better and try to play .500 baseball.’ That’s not even close to where we want to be. Who cares what our record is? Our goal is the playoffs.
"You talk to anybody in this clubhouse, and they all believe that we can go to the playoffs. That’s a feeling that has never been in this clubhouse since I got here (in June 2004). Ever."
BOD: Boyfriend of the Day, April 8, 2009
Welcome to the first of what will be many Boyfriend of the Day posts! Generally I try to get these up before the next game starts, but with day games, I get a bit behind.
The point totals will be the same as last year. A BOD (boyfriend of the day) is worth 3 points, a SK (smitten kitten) is worth 2 points, and an HM (honorable mention) is worth 1 point. The points will be accumulated and totaled over the season and the winner will be announced at the end of the season.
I will also try and give totals every once in a while, but I've found over the years that having that for every single game is often what keeps me from posting as often. My solution is that at the end of each series, I will throw up totals in the final BOD post for that series (if it's the last game of the series), or in a quick fanshot.
Claim your 2009 Boyfriend! Get Jalepena while he's HOT!
Okay, so I'm throwing this up before I go to breakfast at my math conference. Yes, I said it. So hopefully I can lay down the ground rules easily and those of you who have been around can explain it if I'm not 100% clear.
1) Should the Royals start raking, I will most likely switch it from a BOD (boyfriend of the day) to a BOS(s?) (Boyfriend of the series) just to help keep my sanity. This means that we may not end up with the same number of wins as boyfriends.
2) Last year I made the promise of brownies to the winner. I promise that I will look at the last total and whoever was in the lead will get some home baked (not special, sorry) yummyness courtesy of loyal2.
3) here is how it works:
* pick your favorite player. Please note that once a player is picked, only one other person may claim him. That is, only two per boyfriend.
* Each time the Royals win, I will post up a BOD/BOS post, telling who I felt was the best player of the game. If players make me unreasonably angry, I may also pick a Scrub of the Day (SOD)...even though Angel Berroa is the permanent forever-SOD. There is no statistics that go into my evaluation, no real thought past what I saw on the field and what I liked.
* I try not to give my favorites any emphasis, so I won't be telling you who they are.
* There will be a running total of boyfriends, and they will be calculated at the end of the year. Winner will get brownies.
So, any questions? Alright...pick your boyfriend!
OT: UCM Mules make it to NCAA Division II Elite 8, fall short in semi-finals
Just thought I'd share the semi-success of my school's basketball team. Whooo!
The Third Annual Loyal2's Guide to Free Sh*t, or: What Sort of Promotions are the Royals Throwing out this Year?
Hello again, my lovelies! Have you missed me? Do you even know me? Well...either way, I guess this will work. I'm Loyal2theRoyals, the on-again, off-again resident female on the blog (but not the ONLY resident female on the blog...just the longest existing one). And by resident, I mean 'around for the season but not so much during the winter', and by female, I mean....female. ANYWAYS! I know there are always new faces that pop up over the times when I'm not here, so I thought I would give that intro again.
I would also like to note that I had a GLORIOUS trip to Utah/Arizona, and had a blasty blast. Zack sucked it up pitching and I was not aware that he was signing autographs after he finished pitching (Thanks, Dad for not telling me!) but apparently my seats were in just the right spot to where anytime they got a closeup on a righty batting, you could totally see me and my friends. Buahahaha. I win. It was quite the adventure, and I'm glad that I went!

OT: Spring Break in AZ/NV/UT Advice
Long time no see, Royals Review. Welcome to RR to anyone who is new and has not met me yet. I'm the self-proclaimed resident female, though I have a tendency to go into hibernation mode between September and February. But hell, the pitchers report soon enough! Time for me to crawl out of my hole and be social again :)
The main reason for me posting this is that over my spring break, myself and two of my friends are planning on taking a trip to the southwest to see some natural beauty, some Sin City lights, some old friends, and of course to catch a game of baseball in Surprise, AZ!
What I'm looking for generally is an idea of things to do in Las Vegas and things to do in the Phoenix area. For those of you who do know me fairly well, you know that I used to go to school in Utah. So I don't need as much help planning things for that area, but anything is welcome. I'll be going to the March 18th game, which is evidently being shown on FSKC...kinda cool if you ask me :D
For those of you who've gone to ST before, what do you suggest doing? What time should we show up, how easy is it to see players and get autographs/photos/whatever? I'd like to try and at least meet a few of my faves. Maybe.
Royals Spud
Everyone loves Mr. Potatohead. Get one that loves the Royals!
John Buck and his sons were on the news tonight. They are ADORABLE!!!
Sorry :) Those boys are really cute and made my non-sports filled night a little better.
2008 All Hottie All Stars: National League
Yesterday brought you the American League Lineup, today we have the boys from the senior circuit, ready and rearing to go. Get your bids in now: we're about to see if Justin Huber made the NL team as the Padre's lone representative or not!
2008 All Hottie All Stars: American League
Only the likes of loyal2 could bring you something as amazing as the all hottie all stars. I have no game to watch tonight, so I need something to keep me entertained until Friday.
If I were picking the All Stars, it wouldn't be based solely on whether they play for a popular team their stats and grittyness. No, my friends, it would be based on attractiveness and likeability.
In the first of a very very short series, I bring you the American League team...if it were based on looks.
From the photoshopper who brought you the Perez dispenser, it's THE BILLSBURY DOUGH BOY!
BOD: Boyfriend of the Day July 12, 2008
Best. Game. Ever. (Also, if anyone is going to the game tomorrow, I'll be seated in section 318 row D. Come say hello :D I'll either be wearing my Greinke Jersey, dark grey Royals shirt, or Buck shirt...not that that helps any). And one final note, I have some epic photos from the series that may be shared so that we may all remember 2008 as the year that Grass Creek was won over by our boys in blue.
Boyfriend of the Day
David DeJesus!
Best photos ever? Maybe. I don't even have to explain why he deserves this. And if you don't know why, SHAME ON YOU.
Smitten Kitten
Mark Grudzielanek!
Hey look Ma! I can spell that without looking it up anymore! Ahem, anyways. This is more of a shout out to my boi. 2,000 hits is a great accomplishment and it deserves some recognition. Loyal2 knows how to appreciate good hitting when she sees it.
BOD: Boyfriend of the Day July 7, 10 & 11, 2008
BOYFRIEND-A-PALOOZA 2008, BIZZLES! Reasons I'm triple-ing up: 1) wanted an excuse for 3 boyfriends in one go 2) don't want to clog up the fanposts 3) at the grandma's place and 4) I wanted an excuse to use an ampersand. Sorry there is still not July BOM...might replace that with an RRASBBFTW (Royals Review All Star Break Boyfriend For The Win)...we'll try to come up with something more catchy in the next 24 or so hours. My apologies for not getting these up sooner, but I'm taking 5 credits within a 7-8 week period and had discussion board, about 100 pages of reading, and a 4-7 page paper due between Sunday and yesterday. Classes I pay for come before obligations for which I get no payment. Anyways, let's get to the boyfriends. I will give the boys in order with one giant standings update at the end, try and keep up.
July 7, 2008
Boyfriend of the Day
John Buck!
Buck had the game winning shot against Tampa, keeping our boys from being swept by the evil Rays! He went 2 for 5 for the game.
Smitten Kitten
Gil Meche!
Not one of his best games, but he kept the Royals ahead through his 5.1 innings of work, striking out 5.
July 10, 2008
Boyfriend of the Day
Zack Greinke!
Zack had a great game, going for 7 innings, holding the White Sox to just 1 run while striking out 8. Wowie Zowie!
Smitten Kitten
Mark Teahen!
Mark went 2 for 4 with a game running in the park home run. There is a reason McDreamy (yes, the nickname is making a comeback) is my #2 favorite-y fave player. Seriously, we were out at Applebee's when it happened and I kinda went apeshit in the middle of dinner. It was GLORIOUS.
July 11, 2008
Boyfriend of the Day
Luke Hochevar!
Another quality start from Hoch, going for 7 innings with 4 Ks and only 1 run allowed.
Smitten Kitten
David DeJesus!
Haha, you thought I was going to give it to Ross, didn't you? HAH. David went 1 for 4, but knocked in 2 runs, crucial given that without those runs the game may have gone into extra innings and...possibly a loss. Yeeeeeah.
Support the 'Stache! Or: Why we can already say 'No Way' to Jose's All Star Game Dreams
Additionally, the team is giving out 20,000 moustaches at tonight's game as a clever and friendly reminder that 1) real women have facial hair. 2) everyone looks better when they look like a dick. 3) don't forget to vote for the Yankee, lest we not have ANY representation at the game --OHWAIT.
BOD: Boyfriend of the Day, July 3, 2008
Boyfriend of the Day
Jose Guillen!
2 for 4 with a walk, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI. He's so selfish, just look at him.
Smitten Kitten
Look at that baby, he's almost cute so young and--NO JOSE, YOU CANNOT YELL AT HIM FOR HIS YOUTH. BAD JOSE GUILLEN, BAD!
Anyways, Tony went 2 for 4 and met his yearly HR quota. Huzzah! He's so gritty it hurts.
As a note, keep your eyes peeled for BOM: June!
