In my draft, I got a little shafted with respect to closers, and I was only able to get Chris Ray (whom, when I saw he was on my team, I could not recall drafting), Brian Fuentes, and Joel Zumaya Yeah Yeahs. Now get this: Armandogeddon is still available. In light of his seeming resurgence, should I add Mando and cut Zumaya, since I'd be getting a surer number of saves (20+, to be conservative)? Or should I look at Zumaya as a longer-term investment, waiting for the inevitable day when Todd Jones gets a bacterial infection of some sort? Or should I cut someone on my bench (probably one of Ryan "George" Zimmerman, Ian Kinsler, or Barry "Legal" Bonds)? (Our league is 9 teams deep.)

Giants finally add more power

The most powerful source of power in our solar system, in fact -- AT&T Park is adding solar panels. The power won't go to the stadium, though -- it'll be dumped back onto PG&E's grid. Kudos, in any case.

Perhaps more relevantly:

Despite the Giants' addition, opposing pitchers still plan to pitch around Bonds.

With Bochy aboard, I'd have thought that the team, and in particular Barry, would bunt less.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mccwriting/

I went with Yahoo Groups, and for the moment all y'all who wanted to sign up, go there and join. The details aren't settled yet -- hey, if anyone can come up with a snazzier title than McCovey Chronicles Writing Group, then by all means! -- but we'll (hopefully) come to a consensus once we're all in (like Winn).

Seeing as a number of us are into writing, I thought maybe we'd like to form a writing group where we'd share and critique each other's works. I'd like to gauge the possible interest first before laying the infrastructure (I'm thinking a Yahoo! Group or somesuch) -- who's in like Flynn?
