Ohio State vs Wisconsin Highlights
This was tweeted a couple hours ago but just in case people haven't seen it ... its awesome.
Montage of highlights with Matt Lepay's call at the appropriate moments.
A Statistical Comparison
Lets compare two Wisconsin basketball players' advanced statistical metrics, and a third player from a top-10 team.
Player 1 uses 25% of his team's possessions when he is on the floor (which happens 87% of the time). His offensive rating (roughly speaking, a measure of how many points he creates via scoring or assists per 100 possessions) is 132.5, which leads the country for players that take more than 24% of his team's shots.
Player 2 uses 31% of his team's possessions, is on the floor 88% of the time, and has an offensive rating of 122.4, good for 103rd in the country.
Player 3 uses 27% of his team's possessions, is on the floor 90% of the time, and has an offensive rating of 122.5.
Wisconsin to face NC State in 2010 Big Ten/ACC Challenge
Assuming this is accurate, I'm pretty disappointed - was hoping to get another marquee matchup. ACC probably didn't want to deal with that again this season.
Andy Katz: Leuer Follows the Wisconsin Way
The most interesting bits are where Ryan talks about his recruiting philosophy. He says straight out that he'd take a one and done if they fit the system.
Oddball Stat of the Week
George Kottaras:
.188 BA, .318 OBP, .438 SLG, OPS .756, OPS+ 100(?!)
Consistency - it's what's Brewin'!
Chaos in the Big Ten
Illinois' wild week, with wins over MSU (somewhat expected) and Wisconsin (stunning), and subsequent loss to Ohio State (being a fan of the Illini must be awesome) has thrown the Big Ten into disarray. So much so that a four-way tie for the regular season championship is not only possible, but perhaps probable. How does it shape up for the four contenders?
The next seven games, and conference predictions
Michigan State has to be the presumptive conference favorite at this point - thanks to an 11 team Big Ten they avoid OSU on the road, and their only remaining road challenges are at Wisconsin and Purdue. Their two game lead over the 4 - 2 Badgers gives them the inside line to the championship.
Wisconsin, Ohio State and Purdue will probably come in at 13 - 5.
Both OSU and Purdue have three conference losses, and both have road games at MSU and face each other on the road.
See below for game by game predictions for the Badgers, who have the most wiggle room in their remaining schedule to move up.
Barring any major upsets (and they don't seem likely, given the pervasive conference mediocrity this season), the four teams above should go into the NCAA tourney seeded between 1 - 6, with the top two teams getting 2 or 3 seeds, and the other two going in seeded 5 - 6 thanks to mediocre out of conference play.
