Picture Post! 10/3 & 10/4
Allllllllrighty then!
Its been a pretty fun couple of days to end this A's season. While the play hasn't been anything memorable, the Season Ticket Holder event and the AN tailgate most certainly were. I was seriously blown away by the caliber of the appreciation party the A's organization threw yesterday on the field and in the East Side Club. Getting the opportunity to meet and greet the players reminded me a lot of my Spring Training experience, when everything had yet to be decided and the atmosphere was full of hope. This time it was more bittersweet, but this celebration of our fandom went a long way to taking the sting out of having to say goodbye to 2009. I left the Coli last night with a smile on my face.
The final AN tailgate and group ticket event was everything I hoped for! A huge thank you to everyone that came and made this last day of the season so special for me. Your generosity always overwhelms! You are such a fun bunch to hang with and I look forward to more of the same in the new year. I'm pretty exhausted and everything is kind of a blur, so I'll let you guys reminisce about yesterday, today, or whatever else you can think of that made you smile about this year.
But first, some pictures:
See you around AN, everyone!

10/4 Tailgate: Bodies & Goodies - Update, Free Ticket!
Hellooooo!
So, this is it kids! We're about a week away from the A's last game of the season and our farewell tailgate. Don't know about you, but even with the dearth of sports we have during the fall and winter, I will still miss baseball. The crack of the bat, lazing in the sunshine, the good company, the hilarious game threads...I could go on and on. Waaah! It went by so fast!
Anyway, back to business. The tailgate to end the season. Sniff!
Thanks to everyone who purchased the group tickets. We'll be in Section 108, Rows 14, 15, & 16.
Update: Hey all! I have one free ticket for Sunday. Please email me if you can use it!
Thanks, too, to everyone who has already committed to bringing food and equipment. You make my life easier and you are the best party people ever!
With this post I would like to get a fairly accurate head count, of both the group ticket holders and those who already had them, for the tailgate. Who is coming and who can contribute.
Our needs are thus:
Grills
Brunchy things
Tables
Chips and dips
Sides
Beverages
Sweets
(I'll be bringing the condiments, utensils, cups, and paper goods)
My plan is to set up here at around 9:30am. That is the East side of the North Lot A, Rows 12 - 14. Email me if you need my cell to make sure you can find us. Help for this stage is very much appreciated!
Please respond in the poll below so's we can plan accordingly, and thanks again everyone!
For those who can't make it this time, a little story. Earlier this year we held our own awesome fANfest at the John Lewis Glass showroom in East Oakland because the A's organization decided to go in a different direction with their fan appreciation day. We had a great time, and Nico has expressed the wish to make it an annual gathering. I'm all for this and I think Mr. Lewis would also be okay with it. So, come February, we'll no doubt do a little preseason gathering in anticipation of ST and the 2010 season. Stay tuned! And...
Let's Go Oakland!

A's Finale Tailgate & Ticket Update
Hey, Y'all!
One last reminder that ticket orders for the final A's game on 10/4 are due tomorrow. We are short by 2 for the minimum of 25 tickets to qualify for the group discount. If we don't manage to qualify, I'll be in touch with everyone who did order to go over the options.
Update: We now have the minimum for the group discount. We still have a block of 50 though, so anyone else that wants to get in on this action, please, join us!
In the meantime...
It's time we started thinking about the pre-game tailgate!
I hope this will be the tailgate to end all tailgates! Its an early one, but I think we're up to the challenge. We'll assemble at the same Bat Place.
That is the East side of the North Lot A, Rows 12 - 14. I'll be in touch with anyone who needs my cell to make sure you can find us. I'll be there at 9:30 to set up with anyone else who can haul their asses out of bed that early.
I like a breakfast tailgate, don't you? We can let our food freak flag fly early (say that ten times fast!) and then work it off inside the stadium and possibly eat again after. Its an added bonus.
You know the breakdown. We need:
Grills
Breakfasty things
Tables
Chips and dips
Sides
Beverages
Sweets
Let's get creative peeps! Check out the sites of your favorite chefs and get crazy!
I'll have all the basics like paper goods and condiments, so, don't worry about that stuff, my lovelies. Yes, and free kraut, too!
For those who haven't yet decided to join your AN brethren...we're fun, we're feisty, and we're loyal to the end!
Let's Go Oakland!

Ticket Orders For 10/4, A's v. Angels
Its me again!
I'm ready to begin taking ticket orders for the final game of the A's 2009 season, to be accompanied by our last AN tailgate of same. I've reserved 50 seats in the Lower Box Section 108 (edge of the MVP seats) through Ticket Services, who have assured me there are plenty to go around. We need at least 25 for the group discount and, from what I could glean from this post where I took AN's temperature, we should have that and then some. Yay! If it seems early on like we will need more than the 50 I've reserved, rest assured I will alert Ticket Services and up the count as needed, but the sooner you respond the better.
You can do this in one of two ways:
- Send me the $27 per ticket through PayPal to the email address in my profile, and be sure to include your User ID and name in the message section.
- Mail me a check for the $27 per ticket to: Lynn Zboyovsky, c/o John Lewis Glass Studio, 10229 Pearmain Street, Oakland, CA 94603. Include your User ID, name, and email address so's I can contact you later.
All purchases are due by no later than September 16th, so if you will be mailing me a check, please make sure to allow for that. I'll be at the park on September 17th and will settle with Ticket Services then. Once I have them in my hot little hand, I will contact you to confirm. You can let me know then whether you would like me to send them to you or hold them for distribution at the tailgate.
For those of you that already have tickets for this game but want to join the tailgate, I'll post again right before the ticket deadline to continue the ball rolling for that.
Let's end this season on an up note by getting together one last time to celebrate our great community and beloved boys in the Green and Gold!
Lets GO A's!

Final Series, Final Tailgate - UPDATE!
Hi Everyone!
There has been some interest by several in getting together one last time at the end of the season and doing the tailgate thing. I just spoke with Brian in Ticket Services and he said there is good availability for a group for both of the weekend games against the Angels on 10/3 and 10/4.
Update: So, guys...since it seems pretty clear that Option 1 is the way we want to go and, because of the Cal game on Saturday, it also looks like we will be doing this on Sunday, 10/4. I'm going to put down the deposit for the group. I'll follow this up with a post early next week to ask you for your orders and how to pay. Yay!
Here are some options:
1. Lower Box (closer in than AN Day)
First 20 rows
$27
2. Plaza Level (beyond the bases)
Section 226
$22
3. Plaza Outfield (beyond the bases)
Section 230
$16
Here's a link to the stadium seating map

AN Day VI Tailgate!
Alright, let's do this!
Saturday, August 22, 2009
Detroit @ A's
3:30pm to Game Time
Fireworks Night!
It's time to party, people, and celebrate our AN-ness. This is about us (well okay, it is a little about our boys in the green and gold, too). So, bring your blanket, your goodies, and you!
Baseballgirl tells me she bought 46 tickets for our group, and that there are at least another 25-30 people who already have tickets, so she guesses anywhere from 80-100 people at our little BBQ.
LITTLE?!
We will set up in the East side of the North Lot A, at the end of rows 12-14. If someone could post that map in the comments, that would be sweet! I'm shooting to be there at 3pm along with anyone else that can be there early to help with set up. I hope to have an AN banner so we can be easy to find.
You know the drill. We need food, and lots of it! We ANer's like to eat, and drink.
Here be the run down:
Grills
Dogs, burgers, etc.
Tables
Chips and dips
Sides
Beverages
Desserts
We'll be making a Costco run for the basics like paper goods, condiments, some beverages, and some food. For those who can't bring, please consider a donation to cover the cost for this.
If you're on the fence about attending, all I can say is . . . please join us! You'll meet some great folks, eat some great food, and get the chance to connect with your team through the people that share your passion!
Please respond in the poll and comments so we can get a reliable head count and figure out what is needed. If I've forgotten anything, please, speak up.
LET'S GO OAKLAND!

AN Home Opener Tailgate Photos
My flickr set is here.
Thanks to everyone who came yesterday and contributed to the fun. We had a fantastic turn out and serious amounts of delicious food and drink. Thanks especially to saint, mrod, and group, who were so hospitable and welcoming. The afternoon turned out to be surprisingly beautiful (if a little windy).
It was great to be able to put faces to names and I apologize that I couldn't remember them all so I could identify you in the photos. I met so many awesome people yesterday! Please don't hesitate to remind me so I can update the descriptions in the set.
Anybody else having images from yesterday, feel free to add them.
Thanks again everybody!

AN Tailgate, Last Call Y'all!
One more day kids! Then we get to see our boys back at home!
I'm so excited, as are we all, I know!
Just a final reminder that a bunch of us will be tailgating in Lot A, between Gates A and D starting at 3:30 pm and going until around 6 pm. We want to wrap things up shortly thereafter so we can be inside for the A's 6:30 pm tribute to the Oakland Police officers we lost on March 21st.
There will be flags and banners aplenty to identify the group, so you should be able to find us easily. If you want to stop by and visit during the game, a number of us will be sitting in Section 231, Rows 6 and 7, Seats 1 through 4. Come say Hi!
This is what we have so far:
jlaff: Chips
mikev: Gas grill
DCinWC: Dogs
Dogfather: Hot Links, small grill, ice, coolers, cups
gigglingone: Cupcakes
skigurl: Buns
Pam5981: Veggies, or something to grill
Nate: Chips
brian.only: Salsa
Englishmajor: Veggies, nibbles, non-alkie bevs
jeffro: A scrumptious dessert
lynnzgal: Guacamole, shrimp, condiments, paper goods, utensils
So, just at first glance...um, BEER?
A table might be nice too if one of you guys with a truck can swing that.
Sorry if I left anyone off the list and feel free to clue me in if so, or if things have changed for you. My email address is with my profile. I'll probably go shopping somewhere in the next 24 hours, so let me know if I can pick anything up for my busy brethren.
See you at the Coli!
