Petagine!!!

Did you guys know that Roberto Petagine is STILL playing baseball. I just found him in the Korean Leagues. He's 38 and playing for a team called the LG Twins. He's fifth in the league in hitting at .342 and second in both homers and RBIs. That guy is my hero! Just an update for those of us that held a torch for so long.

I wish Billy Beane would bring Petagine back to the States for one more try, maybe in September after the Korean League season is over. It looks like LG is not going to make the playoffs. C'mon Billy, I dare you....

Andy Marte Trade

Can someone please tell me why the Marlins, the Mariners or the Astros have not traded for Andy Marte? This just makes too much sense for all involved, especially the Marlins, who have arms that the Indians need. All of these teams are in contention and are stuck with Bonifacio, Woodward and Keppinger/Blum at the hot corner. Marte may be a AAAA player, but he also just might be one of these guys that figured it out a year or two later than the rest. He can't be very expensive. I say, take a chance, Marlins!

What say you?

Community Synthesis Once More

How about I just knock it out? Everyone that has prepared a top 100, please just send it to me. I'll wait about a week to receive whatever I receive, and then I'll compile them. I was disappointed to see this not get done and don't want to see everyone's hard work go to waste. Please send your original Excel files to mac37203 at yahoo. Please make sure that they are Excel files, because I'm not going to have the time to transpose your non-Excel files.

Best-

David

Community Synthesis?

I just returned from being out of the country and hadn't been able to check in on the community synthesis project. When I left, I know that there was a posting talking about some of the rankings, that there were 229 players listed, etc., but I can't find it anywhere on the site. I would assume that it's done at this point. Could someone please let me know if this is indeed done yet, and if so, I would love to get a copy.

Thanks-

David

Immediate League Opening

Hey Guys-

We just lost a member three days before our free agent draft in a Basic Game APBA league (partly mail, quite a lot of face to face). It's a 28 team league that has been going since 1977. The reason that I thought that someone here might be interested is that you had better know the minors well to compete in this league. We play 165 game schedule, have a yearly convention, some of the best guys you would ever want to know. I've been in it since 1987, and these guys are like family.

Knowledge of APBA is a high priority. Write me at mac37203 at yahoo if you're interested and we can arrange a phone conversation to go over more info.

Edward Salcedo?

Not to go all 2007 on you guys, but does anyone know what in the hell happened to Edward Salcedo. I know all the Indian and Yankee stuff from back then, so need to repeat all that, but what is the 2008, going on 2009 scoop on this guy? Has anyone heard anything? Am I at 75 words yet? Damn. Not even close. I think that I shall never see, a poem as lovely as a tree? Okay, now? Good.
