Canis Hoopus Great time (gasp) to be a wolves fan??

What???

Been lurking for quite a while (actually since I took a beating from posting the What about Wes? fan post -- look how that turned out) but damn isn't this long overdue for the pre-Unicorn-more-skinny-@$$-KG timberwolf fans!

Love in the 3 point contest -- my homer in me wants to see a Larry Bird performance!!

Rubio is going to feast (why do I have the feeling that Lin will win the ROY and make me boycott the NYK.

An actual dunker in the Sprite/Kia (better not blow a good show/event) SlamJam or whatever it is called.

Canis Hoopus Why hate on Wes...?

I hear things like " he can't dribble" and he is not a good fit for this team and I just don't understand it.  While I believe that Mr. Cuz' agent is full of it and the fact that it was released that we are draftting him is the kiss of death, I just don't understand why some here on CH hate Wes at 4.

Please keep in mind this is not fantasy football -- basketball or field hockey this is the NBA draft, so I don't understand the posts that say that Wes is too high at 4 but at 6 he is a steal.  This is where your team can pick a player to help your on the court perfomance and you do exactly that....this is not a 7 round - 11 player sport like football so trades like this years draft just won't happen -- because this displeases Mr. Stern!

My main point is the Wolves just like any other franchise would like to pull a trade down two spots and still end up with getting a player we want in a trade <without giving up more than a Gomes contract>....plain and simple things just don't happen this way.....unless you are the Wizards and you sell your soul and still get a dynamic PG even though you traded one away the previous year!

After the jump I will go into the numbers that we all can not dispute....

Canis Hoopus Never posted but hey...

<br /><br /><br /><br /><p> <!-- extended entry --> </p> Bulls/Wolves/Celtics three-way

Bulls trade: Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich, Jerome James, John Salmons, Devin Brown Bulls receive: Brian Cardinal, Ramon Sessions, Damien Wilkins, Wayne Ellington, Ray Allen Wolves trade: Brian Cardinal, Ramon Session, Damien Wilkins, Wayne Ellington Wolves receive: Luol Deng, Jerome James, Devin Brown Celtics trade: Ray Allen Celtics receive: Kirk Hinrich, John Salmons

For Chicago:

Chicago opens up an absolute ton of cap room (my estimate: $35.9M of space at a cap of $52.5M with Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson, Ramon Sessions, Wayne Ellington, and James Johnson on roster) while getting back some useable talent. Ramon Sessions would be a logical back-up for Derrick Rose and is paid a reasonable amount for the long term. Plus, he could also play next to Rose if necessary. Ray Allen is a good mentor for the young guys on this team for the remainder of the season in a role somewhat similar to the one he played for Michael Redd in Milwaukee. Ellington is another guy who could benefit from Allen’s tutelage and should become a valued contributor off the bench. With this trade, Chicago could offer the max to two different players.

For Minnesota:

While there is the possibility Minnesota will go after Rudy Gay in free agency, Luol Deng is a better fit with their current talent and a lower risk since he is already under contract and a more proven, reliable commodity. His mid-range shooting, defense, and mentality would help give an identity to a team that is still looking for one. What makes this trade even more logical for Minnesota is they give up relatively little talent to acquire Deng, especially if/when Ricky Rubio comes over, which would decrease the trade value of Sessions. It gives the Wolves a good core and enough flexibility to make more deals down the road.

For Boston:

Adding Hinrich and Salmons would give Boston the shot in the arm they need to make a real run at a title this season. What’s more, Salmons is signed for only one more season while Hinrich’s salary decreases in each remaining year, so the combined salary burden is somewhat close to what it would be in acquiring Andres Nocioni, except with dramatically more talent. Boston would get more versatile and the added depth on the perimeter would help both in terms of decreasing minutes in blowouts and increasing the chance of winning when injuries hit. Plus, Hinrich has a good history guarding Dwyane Wade, which could prove useful.

This trade is up on another site....most seem to be pipe dreams <MAYNHOLUP! spark it!!!> but this one seems to actually make sense for all team IMHO.  Please share your thoughts, I don't know about anyone else but I would love Deng for the measly cost of Razor Bench Ramon, I clean floors, really Cardinal and the Dukie.  Wayne is no where near a piece that is untouchable because he is the only one that can make a J on the Wolves without Hail Mary rocking in 50% of the Target Center.  Oh yeah, besides the one Nique dunk all season, Mr. Nephew can get the boot as well.....

Canis Hoopus Kahn on NBA TV

Ok, I post but not very often at all but I always sneek a chance to read what the fine people of CH have to say.  Terrell Brandon  Stop and Pop runs a nice site and frankly my homer may have found heaven in the MN blogs (Norseman, Canis, Twinkie) - but I am little suprised or very lost about the fact that no one is talking about Master Kahn-it-work on NBA TV.  I hope I just missed the topic or I skipped over it skimming through one day...

As far as I am concerned he explained the roles of Rubio and Flynn...Example, there was a site posting that Flynn was unhappy about the team also drafting Ruuubio.  Flynn is 20 and is coming to a young team and told he is a scoring guard - not a two guard.  Well, if I am Flynn I am happy either way, Rubio stays away for a year than fine I run the team...Rubio plays in MN --FINE, I guess I will score and still be the leader that everyone is praising him to be.  Not to hype up Flynn but let's really take a long look at his Syracuse team this past year -- anyone really stand out ??  Eric D is decent but is looking for Euro work at this point, D Greene left 2 yrs ago, now I know there are a few that like a 6'1 guard that can play D and huslte--but he can't shoot sorry....anyway I digress -- Flynn in no possible way I can think will be unhappy here.

Kahn threw some jabs at Kenny Smith <which were true....Steve did have a better J> and defended Rubio when Kenny threw some shots back...anyways I will post more in my reply if people seem interested in his entertaining interview....

Canis Hoopus Besides the fact that I can not STAND his jumper….

I think that Evans is definitely the pick if Harden, Thabeet, Griffin, Rubio and Curry are gone.  I actually love his length and ball handling over Curry J but the fact is Curry is a smarter player and may grow another inch.  Evans has a slow J and now I see why – the kid actually has a longer wingspan than Griffin and other 4s in the draft.  I think if we stay in our spot (#6) barring any major trade <which basically won’t happen> Evans should be the pick.  If Evans doesn’t seem willingness to learn and be a part of this team <Wolves not TEAM EVANS…look it up>.  Evans breathes life into Foye and helps us post from a lot of  positions on the floor….he D should be better than Bassy even if he doesn’t hold his arms up – due to his size and ability to hassle the passing lanes.

Like I said, Curry’s good old boy smarts are better than the Bill Cartwright<sp…Bulls/Knick C> Jumper but that is the worst we can do with the #4…..no DD please.  I just didn’t see anything but Mayo-lite at USC and some of the games he was the 2nd or 3rd best player on his own team.

What say you mortals?
