A bored hopeful trade target post....
With the small trade of DA today I decided to visit our neighbors at Indy Cornrows to check on my hopeful trade deadline target, Mr Granger. So I was looking for any mentions of Houston & Granger in the same sentence and of course these are the same as us just fans putting up wishes in hopes that they come true but I ran across this:
"So in my opinion, Bird should be looking at PG/youngster combos in any Granger trade, and trying to get draft picks too. Like Devin Harris and Derrick Favors, or Aaron Brooks, Jordan Hill and a draft pick, etc…"
Well as i said its just a fan making suggestions but I was curious as to what would we trade for Granger? I think he would be a great addition & I'd do the trade. I'd also try to trade Ariza for a good PG to compensate for the loss of Brooks either to back up Lowry or start.
So what do you guys think?
Bosh may be shooting for the stars but how bout a deal with the big bad Wolves...
Ok in another post I commented about a possible deal with the T-Wolves since the scenario of Bosh coming here was, at that time, thought to be all but crushed. We all know now that the 5 team rumor was said to be untrue per Bosh's agent. Knowing that the Wolves have 3 picks in the top 23 plus ours in the 2nd round they are going to be 1) looking to move some picks 2) maybe looking to trade Big Al since this was the word around the camp fire earlier this season & 3) not too keen on starting a team so young & inexperienced, they may be looking to add a veteran. That being said & since more than 2 mock drafts have then taking Demarcus Cousins I was thinking maybe, just maybe Dork Elvis could somehow coax the Wolves into a deal for say 4th pick & big Al for our 14th pick, next years right to exchange picks with the Knicks & oh I don't know Battier & say Taylor or they may want Hill & Brooks which in that case I'd ask for Sessions also, or maybe Battier & Brooks, which again I'd ask for Sessions as a back up to Lowry. These guys are loaded in the front court & IF Daryl could possible convince Kahn to flip picks & give us Al we'd be a pretty good squad with Cousins as a back up C & Scola & Jefferson @ the 4. I'm not 100% sure on any deal involving Brooks going out but I do like how Lowry runs the point & if Sessions comes with Cousins(4th pick) & Big Al I think it'd be very hard not to consider it!?
Just a little from a SLAM mag interview with Daryl Morey...
SLAM: .....You’re headed toward the free agent period. Where are you in terms of talks with Tracy McGrady?
DM: It’s going to take until the trade deadline if anything happens. We’ve started to figure out who are going to be involved in terms of buyers and sellers. There are deals we would do and there are some that teams we are talking to would do, but right now things are pretty far apart. Odds are that it will take until the deadline.
SLAM: There is a lot of money coming off the cap for your team at the end of this season. Are you looking to make a big push in the off-season?
DM: Yeah, the money that’s coming off with McGrady, if we don’t trade him, is money we’re authorized to spend by Mr. [Les] Alexander. The salary cap will make it hard to spend directly so a trade or a sign-and-trade will probably be the best way for it to happen....... The players are developing into championship caliber players, meaning they could fit on to a championship team. We have a chance this year to make a trade that could really help us make some noise in this year’s playoffs. We’re still trying to make the playoffs this year but even if we don’t, which is a possibility, we feel we’re setting ourselves up to have a great team in the near future.
So with these few words, take them for what you will, it shows Morey is trying to help the Rockets now without jeopardizing our future. This to me means that if a trade shows itself but the other team asks for Brooks/Budinger/Landry/LowryAriza it probably won't happen, unless it's for Bosh/Johnson! Do you guys see any REAL possible trades this year that will help for the future without jeopardizing it, if so who? I'm not talking Wade & Bosh for Andersen & Cook! From the trades rumored I don't see any that will help. The Bulls trade doesn't help, we just get stuck with Salmons for an extra year (I'd rather have JT than Salmons), anyone the Knicks can offer doesn't help it's pure cap space, so they'd have to do a 3 team trade with ???? The Wiz trade would have been good but I read they wanted Lowry or Landry or Scola so that shows why it failed and I would agree with that decision from Morey, smart move!! 76ers trade would tie up cap for years to come so that probably won't happen (I'd still like to have Iguodala as a 3rd option next to Yao & ????). So with 5 days til deadliine, it's going to be interesting to see what presents itself or not, let your imaginations run wild (& your GM hat more than likely)!
Igoudala to Houston, maybe...
Just reading around the internet & came across this:
According to this source, the Rockets have expressed interest in a deal involving Iguodala, but he must be paired with better, younger talent than Dalembert. The source also said that the Rockets and Sixers have not talked in "more than a week", making a deal unlikely, but said any deal involving Iguodala "has a chance."
So what do you guys think? Hes a 2 guard he'd more than take T-macs place but is he the Rockets answer to "who will be the next BIG star" in Houston? After all if T-mac is traded you are looking for that star player or potentially a star player. I for one wouldn't mind Iggy but that's if noone better is available!
