Yahoo Article on Prater
"Prater has kicked the game-winning field goal on the last play of regulation or in overtime four times during this stretch. That’s one shy of the NFL single-season record set by his predecessor, Jason Elam, in 2007."
Dat Matt Prater
Everyone's been talking about how this is a team game and giving props to our success to the defense, to BayBay, to decker, etc. HOW BOUT PRATER?!!!

Broncos CB Cox loses some memory after head injury
This is kind of scary...i hope he's okay
Why is Tebow's throwing motion such a big deal?
It was a problem in college yes and then he changed it but then it epically failed in pro day. so people are saying yes he changed it but he can't do it in a live game. so what? hasn't he shown that he has the ABILITY to change it? do you really think that McD, in my opinion probably one of the best QB coaches in the league right now if not ever, can't change that motion? don't we talk all the time about lineman linebackers corners who have bad technique or RBs and wide receivers with bad footwork or route running. they all get a chance to fix it, to develop a better technique and learn from the coaches. Tebow has all the raw talent, the smarts and the athleticism. everything else can be learned.
put it another way, for everyone that plays madden. in dynasty mode you can always develop the skills of certain players. catching, throwing accuracy, endurance etc they can all be built up. if your player shows higher potential? then the player will improve these skills at a faster rate. other things like speed, throwing power, kicking power, these are skills that cannot be improved and in my opinion these are the most important when looking at a draft. Al davis has this same idea, unfortunately he also has a tendency to draft players who have bad attitudes i.e. low potential so their imporovement by year is minimal or miniscule. Tebow: 84 speed, 91 throwing power, 85 acceleration, but with 99 potential :D lol. the future looks bright, give McD sometime to mold him
GO BRONCOS!
So which picks have we ended up with?
We have a 2nd rounder (45) 2 3rds (80, 87) 5th (137) and 6th (183rd)?
does this sound right to anyone that has actually kept a close watch? if it is...man i'm coming around to the tebow pick and am really looking forward to tomorrow. We'll have a chance to get guys for the trenches that everyone is lamenting that we missed out on today. we'll be okay :) so confused about the 4th round pick...
GO BRONCOS
WOOOOOOOOO THANK YOU!!
I LOVE THANKSGIVING!!! OH YEAH. stomach full of turkey and team winning for the first time in four weeks. no better feeling!! oh yeah.
THANK YOU to the Guru, Douglas, Steve, Jeremy, TJ and everyone else that focused on the big picture and helped stay positive!!! made this win so much sweeter to watch!!!
enjoy the rest of the break guys!! be careful to anyone going to brave the stores tomorrow like i am!!
WOOOOOOOOOOO WE WON!!!!
GO BRONCOS!
so for everyone wanting the deep passes....
we all saw how it worked out for us during the redskins game. It is obviously a high risk, high reward type of play (and we will never get that wide open during a playoff game) so i thought i'd follow how peyton manning and tom brady (in my opinion the two best quarterbacks in the league right now, and possibly ever in the history of the game) do on "deep" passes which i will define as passed of 30 yards or longer (in the air not after the catch yardage)
through three quarters, they are a combined 3-8 with one touchdown and two interceptions...
update: 4-9 two TD and 2 INT
update: 4-10 two TD and 3 INT
the two combined for only 8 deep passes? no ones complaining in their camp....
just fyi :)
I'm gonna try to keep my hopes up
This is getting harder and harder to write every week lol. *munches on chocolate ice cream mixed with beer and anti-depressants* but i'm gonna try and forget about this one *looks for other drugs that may cause memory loss* that was ugly in the 2nd half. it was not our defenses fault (though that run defense is looking worn down, the nickel defense is getting owned by 3 WR formations) but how badly do we need kyle orton now? this is why mcdaniels let cutler go, to run his system, he needs someone who can be smart with the ball, not someone with an amazing arm and kyle orton has certainly showed he can throw the ball all over the field and fit it into really tight spaces.
This game was not on the defense, it was not on the coaches, it was on the fact that our STARTING QB got hurt in an awful looking run and our Backup QB was not up to the task of filling in for him.
we have to forget about this game cause san diego is coming next week and you know if we win that game, all will be forgiven and forgotten :) such is the way of nfl football.
try to keep your heads up, take the taunting that you're gonna get from everyone and stay positive (very hard i know)
if its any reconciliation, we're on a 3 game losing streak and still in line to get a first round bye if the season ended today :) gotta keep fighting gotta keep fighting.
We. Are. Six. And. Three. :)
GO BRONCOS!! (go eagles!!)
hamilton gets benched....maybe...
http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_13764502?source=rss
I guess we kind of all saw this coming, dunno how much an improvement this will be though. Hochstein's will probably be better in the power blocking scheme but we'll see. Playing against washington will be a good test, despite how horrible their team is. they got good defensive lineman and haynesworth is always a risk to take you down, rip off your helmet, and stomp on your head.
we shall see, we shall see :)
GO BRONCOS!
COME ON PEOPLE!
are you kidding me?!! seriously.. We. Are. Freakin. Six. And. Two. repeat after me. We. Are. Freakin. Six. And. Two.
Yes we've gotten owned by two teams in the past two weeks but think about who these guys are. They are the two teams that went to the AFC freakin Championship last year. Yes each year is a new year (obviously, once again, We.Are.Freakin. Six. And. Two.) but both teams brought back most of their teams. Ravens could easily be 7-1 right now, but it is what it is.What if we had lost to New england and won last night? we'd still be 6-2... yet i doubt there would be as many doubters as there are posting right now... what if we had lost to dallas but won against baltimore? still SIX AND TWO!
No orton is NOT a bad QB. Is he the answer for the future? maybe, probably not. But he is NOT a BAD QB! Look at what he did in first half aside from that interception where moreno got picked by the ref? i mean seriously? yeah he doesn't look good when he's under pressure BUT WHO DOES?!!! isn't that what we've been talking about ALLL FREAKIN YEAR?!! how do you beat an amazing QB like tom brady, or carson palmer or tony romo (maybe not "amazing" for romo but still a great QB) YOU RUSH HIM. you put him in pressure situations, you get in the backfield. i'm not making up excuses for him, he obviously played a bad game but we have a playoff team, we're gonna get there and hopefuly right this ship before the playoffs begin.
one more time guys. We. Are. Freakin. Six. And. Two.
GO BRONCOS!

Don't jump off the bandwagon :D
Alright i know the games not over yet, but there doesn't seem to be much of a chance left but this is a warning to everyone preparing to jump off the bandwagon and questioning mcd, questioning orton, etc. this was ONE game. we are still 6-1! we'll have an extra day to prepare for a good pittsburgh team at home. Yeah this game was ugly, yeah we got dominated, yeah what mcd did at times seemed weird but i've learned not to question the guy anymore :D.
keep your heads up, if you're depressed (like i am at the moment) go eat some leftover halloween chocolate (which i am about to do :D) and prepare for next week cause we're gonna BRING IT!! Looking forward to how our coaches and our players respond to this loss
GO BRONCOS!

wooohoooooooooooo larsen is baaaacccckkkkk
quote from Lindsay Jones article:
Linebacker Spencer Larsen made his return to practice for the first time since injuring his shoulder shortly before kickoff of the season opener in Cincinnati.
wooohooo!!! missed this guy. him, hillis, mcbath and woodyard running down the field at a punt/kickoff returner... *drools* plus maybe he'll help on those key 3rd down conversions we can't seem to get.
can't wait to see our team with him BACK on the field.
GO BRONCOS!

Gotta talk about the rush defense
We've been going crazy over all these other stats: we're 6-0, our offense is top 10, defense is no 1, no 3rd down conversions given up in the 2nd half in the last 5 games, outscoring our opponents 76-10 in the second. we've left out one very amazing stat: we have not given up 100 yards rushing all year. Not a 100 yard rusher like that ravens streak, but 100 yards AS A TEAM.
consider this quote from a brian howell column:
So far, no team the Broncos have played has rushed for 100 yards. The Broncos are the only team in the league that has held every opponent under 100.
That’s impressive, considering four of the six teams the Broncos have played average more than 100 yards per game on the ground — Dallas (161.0), New England (116.3), Cincinnati (113.2) and Cleveland (103.7).
how awesome is that? doesn't that just give you a warm feeling inside? Yeah i know its probably cause our opponents haven't been running the ball that much in the 4th quarter cause they're usually behind and whatnot but we held the cowboys down didn't we? THEY still ran the ball in the 4th quarter. You know what else this stat says? we don't give up big runs. why did the ravens finally lose their streak of 39 games without a 100 yard rusher? benson had a long 28 yd TD run and like 5 double-digit yardage runs. thats around 78 yards right there! we don't give up those kind of runs.
GO BRONCOS!
PS how awesome is our team that we have so much to be talking about and miss a stat like this?

haha our MHR bloggers are awesome
John Bena if you haven't read this article already, you should read this
http://www.denverpost.com/premium/broncos/ci_13555845
If any of ya'll tuned in during john's Sunday night MHR radio, this article is basically what John talked about; the dominance of the broncos in the 2nd half over their opponents. In fact, klis even uses the exact same stats that john told us that night; just 3 days later.
maybe mike klis was listening that night for ideas to write about.....
mcdaniels is too awesome not to like
When you watch mcdaniels during and after games, i mean..how could you NOT like him? even if you've disagreed with the hiring all along, i hope you've come around by now. he is just so exciting to watch. he's not like most coaches who keep their emotions in their back pocket the entire game, but lets it out whenever he can. I LOVED that after the dallas game as he walked off the field he pointed to the fans and yelled out thank you. and then after todays win he goes out in th emiddle of field, faces the fans and gives 4 fist pumps. that was just AWESOME to see and i almost fist-pumped right along with him except that probably would've destroyed my computer monitor.
looking forward to our first primetime game against the chargers!!
GO BRONCOS!
McDaniel's awesomeness
I think everyone needs to either go to Horse Tracks or nfl.com and watch both "mcdaniels wired" and the "anatomy of the marshall TD" cause these two videos show just how awesome mcdaniels is and has been for our team. The way he coaches on the field is just awesome. Not only that, but he's taught all of his players to recognize the same nuances he recognizes on the field. On the marshall play, you hear mcdaniels say 3 corners and instantly both orton and marshall understand that its going to be man. They both see that newman has decided to play tight after playing a soft coverage on an earlier play so they know the jam is coming. Marshall completely owns newman at the line and the rest is history. That was just awesome to see and hear.
You listen to the mic'd video and you see like..almost a two-sided persona of mcdaniels. He's a head coach but he's also a little kid enjoying this awesome game. listen when marshall scores, mcdaniel's voice is pretty much completely gone from yelling all game and he's just letting out all of his emotions and his voice just breaks. It is both hilarious and awesome to see.
can't wait for the pats. GO BRONCOS
PS at the end of the mic'd video mcdaniels goes and thanks brian dawkins and you see right there the respect that our team has for their head coach. Dawkins is like..3 years older than mcdaniels but he calls him "sir". I don't know about you but i would not refer to any guy three years younger than me as "sir" unless i had a deep respect for that person.
Romo's inconsistency
I went back to last years games and looked at every single of one of the cowboys losses (and a couple of the wins) and heres what i found.
win over browns: 1st quarter 7-7 69 yards 1 TD.
loss to redskins: 1st quarter 7-11 80 yards TD (however cowboys had a 5 and out, and a 3 and out on their first 2 drives)
win over cincy: 1st quarter 3-5 55 yds. (cowboys score 17 points on their first 3 possessions)
loss to arizona: 1st quarter 2-6 14 yds fumble (cowboys have 1 first down in the first quarter)
(injured for 4 games)
win over seattle: 1st quarter 7-9 118 yds TD
loss to pittsburgh: 1st quarter 4-8 29 yds INT on second throw
loss to baltimore: 1st quarter 2-5 14 yds INT on second throw
just a little heads up on his inconsistency. he seems to have a wavering confidence that requires a good start to have a good game. hopefully with our new and improved D, we'll be able to get to him early, force a bad start and WIN THIS GAME!!
GO BRONCOS
Brandon Marshall's catch
everyone's been kinda down on marshall about the way he's playing and whatnot and i must admit i was one of them. i've always felt like we needed him so when i heard the trade rumors beginning, i started freaking out a little. Then the season started and marshall still looked like crap. It didn't look like he knew what he was doing and it didn't look like he cared that he didn't know.
After watching the oakland game, i think i have my confidence in him back. Yes the touchdown was good but the catch that did it for me was near the end of the game, on 4th and 1 or 2, marshall beat asamugha (who, in my opinion, is the best cornerback in the league right now) with an amazing catch. I think marshall's back (knock on wood) and i think our offense is that much better with him.
GO BRONCOS!!

Refute of Woody
This morning i read an article by Woody Paige... he was not very optimistic as usual. He never is. But then when the season goes well, he's always the first one back on the bandwagon and it just annoys me to no end (yet i still read his articles, ironic how that works out...). I just need to rant a little and MHR seems to receive these well :).
He mentioned the lack of turnovers in the article. This was an issue with me too, but after reading a couple of articles by hoosierteacher (whose opinion i respect a lot more than woody's) i feel like we shouldn't be too worried. We had virtually no turnover's last year because our pass rush sucked. period. That was the root of all of our evils on defense. So far from what i've seen in the preseason, we're shouldn't be too worried. We've been getting to the quarterback whether we rush 3, or 4, or 5. Turnovers are created by defensive players taking risks, which usually only happens when we're ahead. Tacklers will try harder to strip the ball, cornerbacks will jump routes, etc. Watching the preseason games, everyone seemed to be more concerned with making the sure tackle or preventing the deep ball rather than getting a turnover. I love our defense this year and until they have a couple of extremely bad games, i'm gonna maintain my faith in them.
The main point of his article, however, was that the broncos would only go 4-12. If you purely look at what happened last year and cut out any intangibles out of the equation then yeah 4-12 seems plausible. but COME ON woody, you live in denver, have a LITTLE faith. I offer my opinion team by team on how we'll do this year and please please refute me if you feel i'm wrong, i'm hardly the most knowledgeable football fan out there.
Cincy- Assuming orton or simms will be able to start, this should be a win for us. Even with them out, i think(hope) our running game will be good enough to beat them. They are a much improved team from last year but palmer is still worried about his knee. I just dont' feel like he's comfortable in the pocket yet and our pass rush won't help that out any.
1-0
Cleveland- enough said.
2-0
Oakland- Al davis - enough said.
3-0
Dallas- This will be a toughie. We've beaten them before and thats when they had a better defense and TO was playing well. their rushing attack will be difficult to stop with the 3-headed monster of choice, jones, and barber. Romo to roy williams will always be a problem and their backup receivers are unproven talents. This is a home game and despite our record, i think home games give our team the intangibles. We have a chance, however minuscule that chance may be.
3-1
New England - Brady's back... assist coaches never seem to do well when they face their former boss in belicheck. It's another home game, but this is a team that could make the superbowl again this year. Stuff happens.
3-2
San Diego-its an away game so hochuli won't be there for us. They didn't change much of their personnel so i feel like their defense is still weak. Hopefully with a pass rush we'll be able to disrupt rivers. I think LT has one last good year with him but sproles isn't much easier to stop.
3-3
Baltimore- Both teams are coming off a bye week. Yes flacco was good last year, yes now he has one more year under his belt, but who does he have ot throw it to? derrick mason and mark clayton? Todd heap will probably have a good game but i think we can pretty much crowd the box against this team and if we can stop the run, we'll be okay. Their defense is amazing but Ray Lewis is getting old and i feel like their corners are extremely weak (they have foxworth as their starting CB, i love the guy but he didn't play too well for us). I think we have a chance to pull off an upset here.
4-3
Pittsburgh- the defending super bowl champs who downgraded their WRs with the loss of nate washington, They also lost Bryant Mcfadden to free agency. This team is still amazing though (unless roethlisberger gets hurt again).
4-4
Washington-Don't really know how to gauge this team. They seem like they've improved with the addition of haynesworth and adding deangelo hall last year. But we all saw what eddie royal did to the poor guy and their offense still doesn't seem all that impressive (they've really wasted clinton protis' talent, really wish we kept him but we got champ for him so its ok). Haynesworth won't bother our QB cause our O-line is amazing and whoever plays across from hall will rip him up.
5-4
San Diego- see above. Home game this time though, hochuli might be reffing. theres a chance
5-5
NY Giants- no receiving corp, though hakeem nicks looks really good. Eli's nothing like his brother but they still have that really good defense. I honestly think its a toss-up because we seem to play very well against the NFC.
6-5
KC- we dont' paly well at their stadium in december... but its a new coach so you never know.
6-6
Indy- I hate peyton manning. But its a new coach. Transitions are always a little weird even if nothing else has changed aside from the head coach.
6-7
Oakland-again, al davis, enough said.
7-7
Philly- haha we get to take a look at VIck, which might be scary. Either that or he and mcnabb with bash egos while dawkins picks em off. Still, a really good team that will make the playoffs.
7-8
KC: nice, a home game, last hurrah for a 500 season
8-8
GO BRONCS!
