Question for Yankees/Red Sox Fans

This question refers to the no hitter that Clay Buchholz threw last season. I am in a fantasy league that has minor league rosters. I happen to be a Yankees fan and have Buchholz on my minor league roster. Since he is on my roster (and only for that reason) I found myself cheering for him that he would complete the no no. My question for Yankees fans is if you were in my position would you have cheered for Buchholz from a fantasy perspective? And for Red Sox fans, if you had Hughes or Chamberlain on your roster and they were about to complete a no no, would you cheer for them even though you are a Boston fan?

What are your thoughts on this guy? He was a top talented prospect before he was traded to Philadelphia, then kinda fell off the board after that. Now that he is back in Chicago it looks like he may have re-established himself as a possible #2 starter, and maybe a top 20 talent. He is 9-7 with a 3.18 ERA in 27 starts this year in AA for the White Sox. 150 IP, 116 H, 57 BB, 185 SO and only 10 HR. He has better control this year, and cut down on the number of HR given up (10 this year compared to 24 last year). He turns 22 on the 19th of this month so he is still young. What do you think?

Youkilis

Is Kevin Youkilis going to be a starter next season, or will the Red Sox find someone else to start at first base leaving Youkilis as a backup? If he remains the starter do you think he can improve his power numbers, possibly reaching 20 homeruns next season? And also, where do you think he will fit into their lineup? Any predictions on what his stat line will be if he is the starter?

I don't remember if there has already been a diary posted about Johnny Peralta, but what does everyone think he will do in 2007? He had a really good rookie season and then had a rough one last year. Maybe it was just a second year slump, does anyone think he can return to his 2005 form? Does anyone know what kind of work ethic Peralta has? Just wondering if maybe he will head into this offseason with a little more incentive to prove to everyone that he can repeat the season he had in 2005.

Phil Stockman

Anyone think there is a possibility that Stockman could become the Braves next closer. His numbers at Richmond were nasty: 0.91 ERA, 2 saves, 29 inn, 9 hits, 0 HR, 10 BB, 39 SO. He is also 6'8" tall and weighs 250 pounds. The Diamondbacks released him and the Braves picked him up. He has the intimidation factor with him because of how big he is. Could he be the next Bobby Jenks?

Boston??????????

I just don't see how everyone can think that Boston is going to have a better record from 2006-2009. They are going to have a lot of questions at multiple postitions this year. I think that the Yankees have better players at more positions than the Red Sox do.
1b - Boston - Youkilis
     Yanks - Giambi
-The yankees obviously have the advantage here, especially if we were judging on pure hitting. I think Giambi is going to build on his second half performance from last year and have a productive year in 2006.

2b - Boston - Loretta
     Yanks - Cano
-The Red Sox have the advantage here with a veteran presence in Loretta, but I like Cano and think he is going to become a top of the line second baseman in the near future.

3b - Boston - Lowell
     Yanks - ARod
-Major advantage here for the Yankees in the AL reigning MVP. Lowell is a question mark, but could redeem his career playing in Boston.

SS - Boston - Gonzalez
     Yanks - Jeter
-Another major advantage to the Yanks. Jeter is an elite player, he can be counted on to make the big plays and put up numbers year after year.

C - Boston - Varitek
    Yanks - Posada
-Advantage to the Red Sox, but both catchers are on the decline offensively speaking.

LF - Bos. - Manny
     Yanks - Matsui
     - Advantage to the Red Sox, can't go wrong with Manny in your lineup. His defense is terrible though.

CF - Bos. - Cocoa
     Yanks - Damon
-Have to go with Damon here because he has produced consistent numbers. He will score a ton of runs in that lineup, he arm is terrible though. Who knows if Crisp can keeping improving his numbers or if he will taper out.

RF - Bos. - Nixon
     Yanks - Sheffield
-Got to go with Sheff here, Nixon is injury prone and Sheff is a much better hitter anyways, although his numbers will probably start to decline this year due to age.

SP - Bos. - Schilling, Arroyo, Wakefield, Beckett, Papelbon?
Yanks - Johnson, Mussina, Chacon, Wang, Pavano
-Could go either way depending on injury situations. I don't think that Schilling will ever return to his original performance capability. If the Yanks stay healthy, I think you have to go with their starters if Schilling doesn't bolster the front of that rotation.

RP - Boston - CL FOulke
     Yanks - CL Mariano
-The Yanks have the clear advantage at the tail end of the bullpen here. Foulke is a question mark, Timlin is getting old, but they do have a good pitcher for the future in Hansen.
The Yanks also have question marks with Farnsworth and the other guys they brought in this offseason. But the X factor here is Dotel, he could really help them down the stretch.

Just curious about what everyone else thinks. Going by these positions, I would say that the Yanks have a 7-3 comparative advantage heading into this year. What does everyone else think?
