All-Time Most Hated Mariners
I was visiting various SBN sites and visited Gaslamp Ball. While looking through the various fanposts, I found a post called
"All-Time Most Hated Padres By Position"
and while enjoying the comments on peoples opinions I thought maybe LL could have some fun with this.
However, I don't feel up to taking time to think of players for every position, so this is where i leave it up to you, the fans.
Tell us who your Most Hated/Least Favorite Mariners are, by position. I'll throw in a few names
C:
1B:
2B:
SS:
3B:
LF:
CF:
RF:
DH:
SP's:
RP'S:
Scott Spiezio, Bobby Ayala, Jeff Cirillo, Miguel Batista, Jo-El, RIchie Sexson and A-Rod to name a few
Please add in your all time most hated and i'll eventually post my list as well.
Pardon my lack of formatting/grammar as well
ADD IN: Managers as well
Adieu Fellow LL'ers
Well, the time has come. I actually debated for awhile if i was going to keep quiet, or make a quick post about it.
I've been a fan of this site since the LF3 days. I've had a ton of fun playing softball and football with you guys, and going to games.
However I have been given a chance to really make a change in my life, and as of Wednesday the 30th of january, I will be serving a mission for my church for roughly 2 yearsish. I've never been one to preach to my friends, and that will continue. My ability to follow baseball will be greatly diminished besides the a weekly newspaper, and Brett hooking me up with weekly email updates.
You guys can bet that i'll be back on this site in 2 years, and immersing myself back into this great game.
I've made some great friends here, so i felt comfortable posting about me leaving. I'll be limited to roughly 30 minutes of internet access a week, and most of that will be consumed by writing to my family and friends.
I'll never force or even suggest my beliefs to you guys, but i know this is what i felt was right to do.
If i get the chance, i'll try to make an occasional post, but if not, i'll be back in late december/early January 2010.
I would like to thank all of you guys for teaching me so much more about this game. Jeff for the recaps and showing new sabermetric stats that really make sense, and the rest of you guys who made it out for my Softball and Football games.
Alright, i'm done rambling about this. For the next 2 years, i'll be living in the Cleveland and Northern Ohio area Moving around periodicly, and I'll have a decent chance to attend an Indians game too. I'll never leave the Mariners though.
Farewell LL, I have a few pics from our events in my traveling photo album. I'll miss you guys
GO MARINERS!
Spring Training NRI List is out
for our beloved Mariners. Link here
No big suprises really. Aumont, lots of potential relief arms, A Corcoran and a guy named Bronson Kiheimahanaomauiakeo Sardinha to highlight the list.

LL Bowling? (poll added)
Right now i'm re-reading that LL Beer thread from February, and i found a section where people were talking about bowling and the idea came to my mind.
What if we do a LL Bowling night?
Most alleys offer a fairly cheap lane rental option per hour ($10-$25) and all you have to do is pay for shoes. Other options are pay per person, per game or Join all the teenagers on a Friday/Saturday night unlimited bowling 2-3 hour session or everyone pays per game.
Would anyone be up for doing this on a friday/saturday night sometime within the next month? Most alleys have beer on tap, cheap pitchers and usually let you bring your own drinks in as well.
Post if your interested, and if you know of a good alley in the area. If you know the name, i'll make some calls for weekend pricing or rental fees.
I love bowling, i'm decent at best (130-160 avg) but i figure its another LL social event we could do.
Post if you're interested.
Organized options for bowling
1: Rent a lane: Generally $10-25 per lane. Usually good for up to 5 people a lane. Also have to pay for shoes if you dont own any.
2: Pay per game: everyone pays per game (varies from $2ish a game to over 5) plus shoe rental if needed
3:Rock'n Bowl/Moneybowl: varies from $10-20 a person and usually includes shoes and unlimited games. Rock'n bowl is filled with teenagers, black lights, loud music and beer. Money bowl is mainly 18+ plus chances to make money hitting certain pin combos.
there might be more options, but thats generally the normal bowling alley fare

who likes the idea of 2 games, one on saturday, and then one on monday?
Please only vote if your going to play.
we'll play at cal anderson or green lake, and please suggest ideas of other things we could do before or after these games.
I'll take a roll call for each day in a few days after we find out what will work.
LL MVP Baseball screenshots
so the main part of the program is done. i'll be offering a beta download to whoever contacts me early.
I have a few body issues to work out, but i have some basic early screenshots. these havent been edited, and they were taken while just messing around.
My plan is to make some official looking baseball card images and post them in a thread. Right now, its a few people, but i'll soon get everyones picture on this thread. Sorry for the delay, lost interest, started watching the playoff and gained interest again.
Here's what i have. make sure you click and follow the instructions to see it in full quality
Left handed shortstop, making a fine play

Etowncoug throwing hard

i'm in the process of making a flickr/picasa account to host all my screens.

LL Mvp Baseball Thread (update 9-28)
Update [2007-9-28 3:43:49 by marinerschas2]: The major league roster is complete. i will be posting screenshots in the morning. The Pitching staff is complete.
SP:Jeff
SP:FWombat
SP:Marinerschas (had to)
SP:Gomez
SP:Corco
Long Man: Steve Trachsel
Middle Man: Rafael Soriano
Set Up: George Sherrill
Closer: JJ Putz
This is THE thread for any more MVP updates.
What I'm doing:
Creating a Lookout Landing team on MVP Baseball 2005 that will be available to download and play on your own. The team will consist of LL regulars and their screen names will be used as player names. We will be the Seattle Mariners. Jeff is our soft tossing lefty ace pitcher. I will post rosters/lineups when i complete them on this thread.
I will be making ratings based on what I've seen and then rate them up comparable to MLB players. the game rates many skills on a 1-100 basis. Nobody will probably have a rating under 30.
I have taken all the information that everyone has posted, but i still need more.
What i still need
from everybody:
Age
Handedness both batting and throwing
Music style prefrence: (rock, heavy rock, country, dance, rap, pop or latin)
batting stance (name a comparable mlb player please)
fielding Glove color
High or Low socks
What i need from people who have never played softball with us along with the previous questions:
body type, height, weight, speed (compare to a current mlb player), hair color, facial hair
also i need positions if you didn't post them previously. If you haven't played with us, you might be lucky to get a bench spot, but will likely end up in long relief or middle relief.
I will be updating this thread pretty frequently. I am hoping to have a decent roster done by the end of the week, with screenshots up sometime mid-week.
This team will also include the likes of Doyle, Carl Everett, Matt Kata and WFB, as well as other players we "love". and whether he likes it or not, RED will be our starting catcher.
The roster will be posted here shortly, and updated as i create it
If you have any other questions or requests that you dont want to post, or you just want to talk to me. Add me on AIM: bigchiz31 or msn: chasmarini @gmail.com (remove the space)
JOHNBAI: would you be willing to share other pics not posted from the LL games, I'd like to see if i have enough to even try portraits. email me or something
phildopip: i need a new number, 29 is reserved for red
Update [2007-9-25 5:40:14 by marinerschas2]: i'm done with the 7 or 8 player models who i had all the information for. i still have to make the other 10-15 players and then i'll start on every players ratings.
i also have bad news. certain players who weren't so hot at the plate have now become young and effective pitching
LL Softball Photos (chas's) + new project
so i took some photos too, and i felt like making a new diary.
All of the pics are clickable for full size

LL Softball 2 Review
Hey, thanks for coming out guys. I'm in a hurry right now, but i'll put up a bigger review with pics when i get back.
What you need to know:
Game 1:
Chas team 20
Johns Team 19
Game was played at Garfield park until the middle of the 7th when those punk 5 year old kids and their soccer kicked us out. We moved to Judkins park, which with its "quirks" (see misplaced bleachers) finished off the inning with a big comeback. I ended up hitting a walkoff single down the LF line with runners on 2nd and 3rd to cap the comeback with 2 outs in the 7th.
The second game, we switched up teams with this as the score.
My team lost to john's team. I can't recall the score, but it got close towards the end.
Finish off the reviews, i'll put my pics on later tonight when i get back home.
Thanks guys for coming out, we had a great time.
Post your recaps, moments and whatnot from the games in this thread.

Troy Glaus received steroids (SI)
just came out of sports illustrated.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/09/07/drug.probe/index.html
Former World Series MVP and four-time All-Star Troy Glaus, currently a third baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays, received multiple shipments of performance-enhancing steroids through an allegedly illegal internet distribution network, according to information obtained by SI.
man, i hate hearing about this stuff. It's digging a deeper and deeper grave for baseball
LL Softball 2! (early planning thread)
Lets do this again.
I have 2 dates that you guys can pick for. They'll be saturday's only though, as sunday nights are really tough for me in september.
I have 2 dates:
September 15th. The Mariners are in town playing the devil ray's later that night, there is a chance we could just meet up again at the park.
September 22nd day after my birthday and they play the Angels in Anaheim that night. We could meet up at a pub once again (or the ram for the underaged).
I assume we'd just play in the afternoon again. My friend Mike is in for sure, and 1 have one more guy who'd play. He's more of a high contact/low power, fielding specialist though.
Do we want to play in Garfield park again, or does anyone know the field condition at the other parks?
Post if your interested in part 2 here.
LL Softball recap thread
YOU WRITE THE RECAP!!!
Basicly, the 1st game was won in the bottom of the 7th, and the 2nd game was a texas blowout we played two 7 inning games without a run limit (not a great idea). No Strikeouts, No walks, batting team provides catcher.

JJ Putz intro. (better quality)
I took this video back on friday the 17th. This is much better quality then the video i had posted before.
I also think the sound quality is better. This is mainly just filler for the 300 character minimum. Let's go Mariners!

Sorry, had to goto the ballgame, then straight to camping then a 4 hour softball tournament.
Looks like its going to be Saturday, August 25th. 2:30 pm.
The final vote is for the place.
Green Lake, Garfield Park, or the park further down the street from garfield.
Let's get this done.
LL Softball final stuff thread [please re-vote]
[editor's note, by marinerschas2] Accidently deleted it, but redid the poll anyways.

So i'd say there is enough interest in this. Lets keep it moving.
Possible game:
how about August 27th. its before a family night with the $10 tickets. Cheap, and we could meet up at a park before. any objections? this is your thread.
Place to play: Sounds like Garfield Park is the winner, however Olympic stadium in Hoquiam and Joe Schmuck field in Eureka california just fell short of the popular vote.

guys, that is 24 players. Thats enough for 2 teams or for some people not to show, this is looking really good.
Remember, if you have a complaint about the location. This is your place to try and sway us. If you have a complaint about the day (i fear most of you will for some reason) this is your place.
We also seem to have enough equipment to go around also.
If you need a glove, athletic supporter (its only softball) or any other equipment (besides bats) please post it here. This is the best way to organize everything before hand.
The only favor i ask, is that when this happens, Jeff posts it like a normal game thread (with the table and lineups).
When all the details come together, we will discuss team setup and everyones final preferred positions, and set the final date, time and place.
If you cant make it, this is the thread to tell me, and i'll update the list. If you want to add your name, post it here. Any other complaints, suggestions and location and date swaying goes here too. [editor's note, by marinerschas2] ok, so we're going to need suggestions to get the most people in. I dont mind playing on a non-game day. We need to come to an agreement someday
LL Softball game?
This idea dawned on me after tonight game. I was curious if any of you would be interested in doing a lookout landing softball game. It'dbe open to all ages, sizes and anything else
It would just be a friendly softball game at a nearby park, before or after a game.
Right now i'm just gaging interest. If there is enough people that would do it, we would then advance to planning location, time etc...
Post if you'd be interested in meeting up maybe a few hours before a game, or after an afternoon game to play a friendly game of softball.
If your interested, and know of a park somewhat near the stadium, please suggest it. If this thing flys you should get some friends interested in playing as well.
Good idea guys?
post your preferred postions for the heck of it too. Lets have fun with this
1st Position: Left/Right Field
2nd Position: 1st base.
<<<<<--edit----->>>>>> Does anyone like the idea of Tacoma? Do it pre rainiers game possibly? I know of a ton of parks, theres less traffic, and its a shorter distance from our readers to the south. Let me know
JJ Putz Intro Video
per Jeff's request, heres what i got from todays game. The colors are weird sometimes, probably because im behind the dugout just below the concourse with the 12x zoom all the way out. Sorry its somewhat shaky, but its what i got.
when i get around to it, i'll upload a bunch of pics i took to my picasa and post a link.
I even saw red during BP, he was sitting 2 rows in front of My brother and I, in sec. 109 in right field. He got moved by the people who had tickets for those seats. I ended up having to change seats 5 times (damn left field bleacher tickets) Last i saw, he was way in the upper deck behind right field. I didn't get a pic, but he was wearing the pilots beltre jersey and had his heart Beltre sign.
Let me know if this will do. I'll try and do better next time.
LL The Band (off topic)
This may be wayyyy off topic, but i have an idea.
Imagine if Lookout Landing memebers formed a band. We'd need to know who played what instruments, who can sing and who has the "hook-ups" with the local liquor agency.
BUT
Before we figure out that stuff, We need a name!
My Fellow LL'ers, i have a request. We need a band name for us. It should have some sort of tie in with the Mariners, the nicknames we have for the players or it could be completely random.
Please suggest away. This could be fun
I'll add some in soon, but right now you guys have at it.
LL Nights pics and video
i had thought of an entire intro i could write on the drive home. I forgot it, so heres what i do have.

Please someone identify everyone, i didn't get everyones name.
Here's a couple with everyone doing the beltre dance, however the camera was having issues and i was trying to take the pic without them knowing.

and the videos. little did we know we had quite the dancer in Paul.
