Sportsnet.ca is reporting that Willie Mitchell is on his way to D.C. within the next few days to workout and demonstrate his health to one of the few teams seeming to be an option for the Vancouver defenseman.

Sources tell Sportsnet that after working out with the Los Angeles Kings last week, Mitchell has apparently showcased his health to the San Jose Sharks and his club for the last four seasons, the Vancouver Canucks.

Mitchell is trying to make a comeback after suffering a season-ending concussion last January.

The workouts have reportedly gone well, and now the 33-year-old is expected to visit the Washington Capitals.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Caps and Blackhawks do not have a deal in place:

Now, while this is a tweet to debunk something, there had to be something there to debunk. I looked at some of the Chicago blogs, and saw nothing there. Anyone know where this "speculation" is coming from? It almost seems to give the "speculation" more merit. I'm praying for Pat Sharp!
