I'm a Washington Capitals fan (currently living in Boston), but I'm friendly to anyone who loves hockey at all levels.
I don't troll and I don't tolerate people who do.
And I particularly like it when Canadian teams come to town, because I get to sing two national anthems.

Why was Dale Hunter so awesome? Easy - he had three legs.
(Hey, it's all-star weekend. Having no serious hockey is boring. Cut me some slack.)

OFB touches on the subject of NHL contraction.
What do you all think? I had mentioned in last night's game thread that I didn't think the NHL could support 30 teams. As much as I wouldn't want to see contraction or franchises moved, given the economic climate and forecast, it's certainly a possibility.
Something to talk about on an off day.

Emrick to miss Bridgestone Winter Classic
Mike Emrick apparently has come down with a case of laryngitis and will not be calling the play-by-play for the Winter Classic. Dave Strader will take his place.
Without devolving into announcer-bashing, I will say that I like Strader's "announcing style" more than Emrick's and that this game just because more appealing (as if it needed it.)
Not really Caps news, but I figure everyone here would be interested. Looking forward to a good game tomorrow!

Team Canada's Della Rovere day-to-day with injury
Hey, he wouldn't be Capitals property is he wasn't out there getting hurt! :)
Seriously, though - heal up quickly, Delly.

NHL Radio.
Since those of us who weren’t there last night were all forced to listen to last night’s game on the radio, I figured I’d throw this out there.
A little background: I’m a Capitals fan, but I live in the Boston area for school. I almost never see Caps games on TV. Not only do I not have a Center Ice package, but my cable plan doesn’t even have Versus (Hi! I’m a grad student!) I do get NESN, so I get to see Bruins games, which is OK (Jack Edwards notwithstanding), but the bottom line is I don’t really want to follow the Bruins, I want to follow the Capitals. So when Boston and Washington are playing on the same night, most likely the TV is off and NHL Radio is on. (Unless, of course, they’re playing each other.) Sometimes I listen to the opposing team’s broadcast just to hear it called from a different perspective. I dig Steve Kolbe, but sometimes a change of pace is nice.
So I guess that’s my open question – does anyone else use/rely on/like to check out the radio broadcasts?
