The Slipper Still Fits Tumbleweeds...

This site has been DEAD lately,,, I mean, merry Chrimbus everyone, but lets talk Zags, and argue, and reminisce...

1. PARGO- in preseason game, against Sterns NO hornets, he had 15 points, 7 assists, 0 turnovers...then, in regular season opener rematch against SA (last years playoff opponent), he had 15 minutes, 3 assists, 3 turnovers... Memphis has potential, so does Pargo!

2. Ronny had 5 rebounds and a block, in 22 minutes vs. NJ, in opener, 4 fouls, come on, Ronny, you gotta shut "dim bulb" Mr Kardashian down!!

3. Gonzaga has won against Air Force, Moral Orel, Butler, and Zona, all in a row, plus wins against Wazzu and Notre Dame, which I think will look better as year progresses... Deep thinkers will naysay, and demean everyone we beat, (cause when you win, losing team doesn't look as good).. I think these are quality wins,,, we are just outside of top 25 in both polls, and have 10th ranked RPI in country!

4.. Lets beat Xavier, and go undefeated in confy,, I think this is possible, and if we pull it off, the confidence will be great for our freshman. Pangos and Bell continue to improve, Spangler and Quise get their groove in conference play,=FINAL FOUR BABY!

The Slipper Still Fits What We Want...

Or at least me. I am a bit dissatisfied with site right now...... I have been trying to follow AMMO for days, why can't I find a link? I know his team is Red Star Belgrade, or KK Crvena Zvedsda? I found one site offering to take my money, send me a link in 2-12 hours, maybe my Euroleague account gives me AMMO coverage? Let Me Clarify.... I love this site. It gives more than most. I can surf the net myself for many Zag related items. I want inside info, or at least info from people better at searching than myself... couldn't care less where you went to school, or your credentials........................... 1. Recruits- give me info, on possible recruits, leanings one way or another, etc... Zach does great with this.................. 2. Analysis- granted, you are not Bob Knight, or you would be on ESPN, or coaching in the final four...still don't be afraid to make a bold prediction, or at least anything I may not have heard... I love Zach on this, Will wrote a couple articles that reminded me of reading Sports Illustrated on the toilet as a nine yr. old, and no other "official" contributors have contributed enough for me to have an opinion on them. Many posters make bold predictions and analysis, and this is the fun of the site to me... we argue, agree, debate, whatever, but we have fun!...................... 3. Give me links for following AMMO, Jeremy, Heytvelt, etc... I have tried, I actually found some numbers on Heytvelt and Jeremy, but it is hard.... lets post, and keep posted links, preferably free, but if you have to pay, so be it.. Really, if someone can vouch for a good Euroleague, including AMMOS Adriatic League, site, even if it costs, I am in! This is where Gaz shines above all others, and I think we all need to fall in.

The Slipper Still Fits SWX reports,,, Adam has officially signed with pro club in Serbia!!! This is huge, to me!

December night, cold, 2003, watching the Zags play Stanford, with a couple old friends.. That was the night I decided AMMO was awesome, possibly my fave Zag ever...He looked like a shaved head version of Larry Bird, hitting mid range, and three point shot after shot, with a high, over the head release, that SCREAMED Larry Legend. Stanford kept trying to pull away, but AMMO kept us in it to the end! Fast forward to now. AMMO looked dominating at times in NBA ( a winter game against Minnesota when he singlehandedly carried team to win in 4th quartet), but mostly whiffed in the league, for various reasons.. AMMO now is being reborn in Serbia. For obvious hero worship, homer reasons, I will now follow Euroleague intently, but there is a different pot of gold than just getting to follow AMMO... My hope is that he will star, and we will have a diamond ambassador for recruiting talent rich Eastern Europe! GO ADAM, GO ZAGS!!!

The Slipper Still Fits Adam Morrison Eying a Comeback!!!

Just read in an article (www.hoopsworld.com/agent-adam-morrison-serbia-in-talks/), that Adam Morrison is in negotions with a high level Serbian pro team. This could be really great!! His offensive skillset might shine in the wide open, let er rip international scene. His agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed serious interest on both sides, while, according to the article, overseas reports have been reporting this as a "done deal"...Here's hoping AMMO has success, and who knows??? Shoot, he needs some work, for sure, but I can't imagine he couldn't have a Wally Sczerbiak type career, in the right situation.

The Slipper Still Fits I generally support coach Few on this site... We are lucky to have him. Our success from such a conference as the WCC is rarely duplicated...Still, I have TWO burning questions for coach Few...

1... Why don't you emphasize perimeter D...I know, I know, I have been a fan for 25+ years... in the years following the "Cinderella run",, It seemed like Big ten teams took us to the wood shed annually in the paint; 2000, Purdue had 20 offensive rebounds, and most of remember Zach Randolph, not only making fun of Dan Dickau's name, but killing us down low in the third round.. I believe we overreacted... positively, we generally recruited more athletic big men, capable of controlling the paint,,, negatively, we seemed to adopt an "inside out" philosophy on D, daring teams to beat us with the 3... They have. Routinely. Why do you pull players after one bad pass or shot, but let them remain in the game after lackadaisical, hand in the air, but two steps too late perimeter d? Elite teams like Butler, and half the Big East, have proven, if you emphasize it, you can control the perimeter. GET REAL, IN MORE THAN JUST LIP SERVICE. 2. I love Mike Hart.. I also love Mathis Keita.. I have reviewed my limited tape.. I know you see them in practice, and know more than any fan can pretend to about all your players. I fail to see why Keita couldn't have been a more athletic, more effective, "high defense, high motor" type game changer..

The Slipper Still Fits I'm in a NY State of Mind

In the early 90's, I went through a Karaoke phase, and was once told I did the best Billy Joel someone had ever heard... yea, she was drinking, but that was the prelude to quite a night..
And i ain't talkin bout the New Jersey Swamprats...GO KNICKS!!!!!

Starting lineup, Mr. Big shot,,,Landry (pac-ten sucks) Fields,,Amare, Melo, and, probable starting center, Ronny Turiaf!!

The former Zag, like usual, provides rugged interior d, more than a block a game, and always advocates for the Zags... Follow through jump

The Slipper Still Fits Give me the NIT

We will get over this weekend, so will the team.  However we have been hit over the head too many times with the truth...This team is more inconsistent, and looks worse at times than any team since our elite eight run... and even at our best, we haven't looked as good as our recent teams at their best, either.

I will put forth that I still believe this team can learn to play to their strengths (size, depth) more consistently, and make this post moot..right now, I am looking at this team like a used car,  AS IS....

The Slipper Still Fits Meetch will bring it.

Have never seen such a competitor with so much heart so discredited.  Someone suggested that Meetch was inferior to all 25 point guards in  "top 25 rankings".  Time to pull heads out and recognize that stats are for baseball and fantasy nerds.  Meetch is strong, fast, in your face... our best full court defender, and it ain't close.  So he doesn't fit the mold of our past point guards; hey how many national championships did we win with them?  No disrespect, I love our point guard tradition, but allow room for varying types of talent!  Yeah, Goodson needed to shoot hundreds of jumpers and free throws a day, and I hope he did.  But he can get the ball across the court against pressure.  He is a pitbull on defense.  He had the guts to go full court against Western Kentucky.  Few believes in him.  Get out of the way, and let him shine, his way, we will go far.

The Slipper Still Fits will be more positive later

Y

Yeah, I wonder why Memphis had their national title game LOSS vacated.  chris 74, all of "big blue", keep dreaming, people don't change, you will be angry in a few years.  I had a bad feeling when they anounced coaches for this event as Tyreke Evans, and John Wall.  Yup, Wiltjer is a Wildcat.  Great program, sad time with Cal.  Wiltjer looks great, he will be missed, but we will be fine.  Watch GBJ though... Kanter and Terrance committed to UW, and Slimeball snuck them in... not trying to be too negative though
